Fab ways to do 'big patterned' wallpaper

Thinking of adding a little something to your walls? We all know big patterned wallpaper is big this Autumn. But, for an updated look how about thinking outside of the four walls as shown in this inspiring Elle Interiör shoot....

I like the idea of wallpapering my husband and kids too, they'd look fab in floral! Any ideas for your home?

Have a lovely weekend and see you Monday!

PS want more inspiration? To read more about the shoot and the wallpaper hop over to Elle Interiör.

A white home in Helsinki, Finland

It's no secret that I am completely drawn to homes with white floors! I don't know why but I just love them. As impractical as they can be for families with small children, I think they create a stunning effect, almost like the furniture is floating.  With the light fading here in Scandinavia and the days getting shorter by the minute, brightening up the interior is something of a priority! Finland based interior architect Joanna Laajisto and her husband, photographer Mikko Ryhänen completely rock the white floor look in their home in Töölö (I defy you to pronounce that!), Helsinki. You may have seen their home before on Scandinavian Deko and other fab blogs, but isn't it worth another look?!

PS I definitely need to acquire a set of those Bertoia Side Chairs to go round my dining table.
What's your experience of white floors? Are they as difficult to live with as I imagine?

On a completely different note, I pleasantly surprised myself today (this doesn't happen very often!). My computer calendar just went 'ping' and I went in to check what meeting I had scheduled. Only to find; 'Me time - 1 hour'. Bliss! I can warmly recommend this, who knows, enough hours of 'me time' a week may just allow you to build a home like the one above!

A back-to-basics scandinavian feel summer cottage

Over the weekend I kept hearing about the beautiful weather everyone was getting across Europe. And then suddenly it arrived here in Sweden - one balmy day. And then it disappeared as quickly as it arrived. But still it was here long enough to remind us that the summer isn't over yet. So today's post is dedicated to the last days of the fading Scandinavian summer and to Oregon based interior designer Jessica Helgerson who has chosen to spend everyday like it was summer with her family in this beautiful rurual retreat on Sauvie Island.

I love the back to basics nature of this home, it's just as it should be. A place where a family can be together and enjoy the outdoors. Beautiful!

Do you have a summer cottage or a retreat anywhere you love to go to just get away from it all?

My man's family have a cottage by the sea on the West coast of Sweden which his Grandfather built. It's still furnished the way it was then and has a wonderful feel to it. I love spending time there with my little family. x

Interior by a Stockholm based photographer

Evening all! You may have seen these beautiful interior pictures by Stockholm based photographer Sanna Lindberg before, but I just simply can't see enough of this wonderful home. The owners have the most amazing taste, all their furniture is so beautiful and interesting and I love the touches of pastel.

PS the bedroom colours are also beautiful, not a palette I would normally put together but they work so well. I always think that people who can put the unexpected together are the most talented of all.

Any touches you like in particular?

Check out other beautiful interior shots by Sanna Lindgren here.

Black, white and a splash of colour

It's Friiiiiday! Yay!! In case you're out house hunting this weekend, how about this little gem in Gothenburg, Sweden sold through Alvhem. It belongs to Johanna Laskey, the blogger behind Tant Johanna (thanks Anu for the credit!) and she sure does know a thing or two about interior design, not to mention a bit of a dab hand with paint and colours. I love the blue doors! Amazingly the entire apartment is only 51 m2 - you'd never guess looking at the pictures.

Just so many fab things about this apartment - they've used black and white as a basis and then added splashes of colour and interesting items. I love how they have roughly painted the legs of their home office desk. I have the same one (try the VIKA Artur trestle legs from IKEA)- could this be a project for the weekend?!

Speaking of the weekend, and on a girly note (sorry boys!) I spotted these v.cool hair tutorials over at A Cup of Jo. I am actually wearing the top knot today and it was soooo simple to do (a few seconds)! Perfect!

Have a great weekend all!

Retro with a contemporary twist

Bold patterned wallpapers with motifs such as dogs wearing hats are at the centre of Swedish designer
Lisa Bengtsson's fabulous designs. And they are show cased with panache in her recently sold apartment here in Sweden, which features the 'Family Wallpaper' in the kitchen and the 'Tillsammans Wallpaper' in the kids room and sitting room. I love her mix of old and new interior style too, note the vintage lockers in the childrens bedroom, the industrial style coffee table and the green 'kakelugn'.

The great news is that Lisa's products can be bought in La Maison D'Anna G's shiny new webshop (approach with caution and the day after payday - you will want everything in the shop...).

Is there a particular wallpaper of Lisa's you could see in your home? Or do you prefer a more simple / clean look? Personally I think the 'Tilsammans' one is so much fun, just need to find a space for it and then convince my man. Hmmm, could take a while!
