Get The Look: A Cosy Blue and White Swedish Pad

Tjena raringar!  I've got a cosy little number to share with you today in the form of a charming 53 square metre / 570 square foot apartment in Linnéstaden, Gothenburg. It's one of those pads that you could totally imagine rocking about in and enjoying a fika on the balcony in the spring sunshine (someone told me that the Swedish word fika means something completely different in their own language. I mean, completely different! Just in case you have other ideas, I'm talking coffee and cake!!).  There are a couple of things that really stand out to me about this lovely home. The first is the small bedroom with the pretty row of hooks (FYI - I discovered some in HM Home the other day and they're selling out like hot cakes!) and lace curtains, and the second is the 'evening green' colour in the sitting room - so calming! Let's go for a snoop...

1. Frama E27 light*
2. Wooden peg rail
3. Evening Green paint by Jotun
4. Menu chair*
5. Tine K Home Lounge Chair
6. Vintage rug* (only 1 available! if sold, try here* for similar)

Believe it or not the coffee table is also from H&M Home (I wrote to Elli who designed this space and nearly fell off my chair when she told me). Sadly, I couldn't find it on the H&M homepage, but if you're interested you could always ask in store. I also found similar striped linen bedding here*.

All in all, a lovely space, don't you think?

This middle blue colour is set to be huge this year in terms of interiors and fashion. For more inspiration, I'm loving all the shades of blue in this stunning Norwegian home which I featured a few weeks back, the slightly more vibrant middle blue in the wonderful home of a Swedish food blogger and Sofie Amalie's Danish home with pops of bright colours again a blue background.

Have a wonderful day friends, I hope the sun is shining where you are too!

Everyday Glam In The Fabulous Home of Kyla Herbes

Shall we kick off the week with a little glam,  glam with a hipster touch? I'm talking about the wonderful Chicago home of Kyla Herbes. Kyla has a soft spot for pink (girl after my own heart) - and loves to team it with gold for a touch of everyday glam. I've been following Kyla's blog House of Hipsters for a while, and it always makes me laugh (Kyla's a writing queen - she even scooped up the Amara blog prize for 'best written blog').  But the main reason I nip in is to swoon over her decor which she describes as "just being different". The living space combines vintage, art deco, contemporary and the odd mid-century piece, and it totally works! Ready to put a smile on your face this Monday? Here goes...

First picture: Pelle chandelier* from West Elm (also seen in this fabulous studio apartment), rug from Annie Selke

Above picture: this bar cart* is similar

Print from 45 Three Modern

Love the fabulous Crane Fonda coral wallpaper inside Kyla's hallway guest closet - such a perfect idea! Suddenly made me think of the fact that my children can never close the cupboard door in our hallway and it drives me insane. But perhaps if I lined it with some funky wallpaper.... hmmm. Could you imagine doing this too?!

One of the things I love about Kyla's homes is that there is just so much to look at. You can look through these pictures countless times and still spot something unique.

Shelving from South Loop Loft, armchair picked up at The Savoy Flea, this leather pouf* is similar.

Perfect way to jazz up a tiny guest bathroom: the Party Animal wallpaper by House of Hackney!

Aaaaah, I love this. It makes me want to go a little more out there (starting with our downstairs loo!). How about you?

I also love that Pelle chandelier*, I'm thinking it could go over my kitchen breakfast bar (although I'm afraid this only seems too be available in the US - is that right?).

Did you get any ideas for your home?

See more of Kyla's home here and here.

Have a fabulous start to the week - I hope the sun is shining where you are too!

My Home: Beautiful Limited Edition SKY Lamps From Bornholm, Denmark

Collaboration* In my mind, lighting is one of the fundamental ways Scandinavians create such beautiful homes. As soon as the sun dips beneath the horizon, the living space becomes bathed in a soft warm, golden light which is as cosy it is calm. The design of the light itself is of equal importance - it's form, style and colour adding something to the space when unlit. Listening to recent trend talks, I was excited to hear lights are set to be a big thing everywhere in 2019 - with every light becoming art in itself. Over the past year I've become a big fan of lighting by Danish glass-blower Pernille Bülow (remember these beautiful SKY pendants over my dining table?). To celebrate 30 successful years since opening her glassblower workshop in Svaneke on the island of Bornholm, Pernille has launched the limited edition SKY lamp. And it's so beautiful! The mouth blown pendant lamp comes in three sizes and has a smoky glass and brass finish - with every piece numbered one to one hundred! I've been looking for something to go over my bar cart for what feels like forever  -  and I think these lights are perfect. I particularly love them clustered together, what do you think?

I am thinking of combining these with the three I already have at some point to make a cluster of 6 - for even bigger impact! You can also add different colours from the collection too.

The mouth blown limited edition SKY lamp is available through the Pernille Bülow webshop. My cluster is made up of a size small (14 cm), medium (18cm) and Large (22 cm).

You'll need to be quick, I've got a feeling these are going to sell out very fast!

Wishing you a wonderful Sunday!

Niki

*This post was brought to you in collaboration with Pernille Bülow, however all words and pictures are my own and I only ever work with brands I truly love and think you will too!

Two Idyllic Cottages To Rent In Denmark This Summer

It's going to reach a high of 12 degrees Celsius (53 degrees Fahrenheit) here in southern Sweden tomorrow and we're seriously excited (we've been waiting 6 months for this, I kid you not!). If you walk through Malmö tomorrow, you'll see people outside cafes in droves, with faces tilted towards the sun. With warmer weather finally on its way, my thoughts are drifting to the summer holidays and carefree days by the sea. If you haven't been to this part of the world in summertime, it's an absolute must. In case you're wondering where to stay, I stumbled across these two idyllic coastal cabins on Airbnb last week while planning my day by the Danish coast. Both are located in beautiful holiday destinations on the Danish coast and are a relatively short hop from Copenhagen!

1. Liseleje
Danes flock to Liseleje on the Danish riviera in the summer time to enjoy the authentic fishing village, al fresco dining on the quay and the long, golden stretch of sand. This charming white washed cottage sleeps 6 and is a mere 600 metres from the beach - and the interior is as pretty as can be!

2. Rørvig
About a one hour and a quarter drive from the Danish capital, this rustic log cabin is surrounded by woodland and situated near Rørvig harbour which is lined with quayside restaurants, cafes and shops. The area is also great for hikes. I'm loving the rustic vibe! Oh and it sleeps 6.

Could you imagine spending your summer holidays at one of these lovely cottages?

I certainly could!

For more Danish summer cottage inspiration, I'm also loving these homes (although they're sadly not available to rent!):

A charming cottage on the island of Fejø
An idyllic Danish summer cottage
A Danish retreat

Wishing you a wonderful weekend friends.

Roll on the Danish summer!
