A dreamlike Swedish Family home that's full of inspiring details

I've just got back from a whirlwind 24 hours in Stockholm taking in all the latest news from the Swedish design world. While at the furniture fair, I also met some lovely people - including Hanna Östberg. Hanna and her husband Mike live in a beautiful turn-of-the-century house in Täby, not far from the capital. The couple are a real dab hand at DIY and have taken on many of the projects in the house themselves, transforming it from a rundown property, to a fairy-tale family home. Included in the extensive work has been a complete overhaul of the exterior including adding a turret! Inside, the pair have revamped every room in the house, creating an elegant living space in earthy natural hues and beautiful nature-inspired wallpaper. Ready to feel inspired?

What a stunning home! So beautiful, warm and homely.

I particularly love the wallpaper and the rich earthy tones. Little wonder Hanna was invited to the fair to help design the stand for acclaimed Swedish design Lisa Hilland (who lives in my neighbourhood - Sweden is a small place!) - she has such an amazing eye for colour and detail!

A few details:
The dreamlike wallpaper in the children's bedroom is the Woodland wallpaper in charcoal
Kitchen cabinets are painted in French Gray from Farrow & Ball
The wallpaper on the ceiling in the dining room is Woodland from Cole & Son

I would be happy to update this list / source any other items for you - give me a shout in the comments below if you're curious about something!

Is there anything that caught your eye?

Before and After: A Swedish Attic Apartment Gets a Cosy Makeover

As I roll through the snow Swedish countryside on route to the Stockholm Furniture Fair  today, I thought I'd stop by to share a wonderful renovation project a few hours north of the capital. Josefine Gunhamre, her husband Rikard and their four legged friends Buddy and Frank rent the top floor of her parent's house in Lexe, just outside Gävle. With it's own entrance, stairwell, kitchen and bathroom, the 65 m2 / 700 f2 apartment is completely separate from the rest of the house. Tucked under the roof, the angles can be tricky to navigate, but with a lot of work, Josefine and Rikard have made great use of the space they have, and transformed a dated space into a cosy, warm and inviting living space.

The internet connection is so poor on this train that I'm going to keep it short and sweet! Wishing you a great Wednesday! If you'd like to follow my visit to the Stockholm Furniture Fair, head on over to my instagram stories for the latest updates!

Holiday Rental: An Architects' Villa in Österlen, Sweden

I'm often being asked to recommend holiday homes in South Sweden. There are plenty out there, but some have that extra magical design touch! Although I haven't experienced this Architect's villa in Grevlunda, Österlen in person, from the listing it looks like somewhere I'd love to stay! Nestled among a one hundred year old apple orchard, the wooden villa is near the picturesque village of Kivik  on the Baltic coast. Inside, it's pared back and full of fab vintage pieces - as well as small reminders of the surrounding nature. Outside it has a small guesthouse, a clay boule pitch and plenty of sociable areas. But I rather like the idea of pulling up a chair under an apple tree and reading a book! Here are some snapshots!

Could you imagine hanging out here this summer? If so, you can find the full listing here for more info!

Oh, and if you are in the area, don't forget to sample the apple juice - the area is famous for its juicy, sweet red apples!

Looking for other places to stay in Sweden? Here's a list of holiday homes, Airbnbs and design hotels I compiled a while back (maybe it's time for an update soon, what do you think?). I've always wanted to stay at Stedsans in the Woods too!

Have a great start to the week!

A Charming Swedish Cottage with Beams and Cosy Fireplaces

Bringing you all the cosy Friday feels with this Swedish country home. Currently on the market, this charming, rustic home is nestled into 101 m2 (1087 f2) of living space on the shore of Lake Mälaren, Sweden. Think old beams. wonky ceilings, cosy wood-burning stoves and lots of warmth! Could this be your next home?

What a mysig (cosy) home! I love how it's full of beautiful historical details. I'd be perfectly happy to spend my weekend here (maybe the month..... or even the year), how about you?

Is there anything that you love in particular about this cottage?
