Splashes of yellow with pretty pastels

There's no denying that Muuto is one of my favourite Nordic brands. They are always spot on with the latest trends, and I love the designs and colours. This selection of images were styled for Muuto by my neighbour's company All The Way To Paris (ATWTP) (you can see my neighbour Petra's beautiful former home here). I'd like a new house just so that I can buy the huge pink Muuto sofa (do you think my husband would agree to that?!).

For more pastel inspiration you could try my 'decorating with pastels label'....I love pale pink with yellow it's such a great way to update the home for spring don't you think?

For other homes with splashes of yellow (the colour de jour it seems) you might want to check out this and this home.

Would you dare go for a bold sofa?

Have a lovely day!

A wonderful white and wood holiday home

I hope you had a lovely weekend? If you've been following my blog for a while you'll know one of my long term dream is to buy and do up a summer cottage by a lake in Sweden (do you share a similar dream?). My moodboards for this dream home are endless but once thing's for sure, I'll be adding this home. Designed by Frag Woodall, the concept is basic, drawing on natural materials and light and keeping to a simple palette of black, white and wood.

This wood and white combination is perfect for a summer home don't you think? The 'basket' in the corner of the room is made from Marimekko fabric. I love the striped bedding too- any idea where it's from?

But there's a twist. Interestingly this is actually an apartment in Sydney which has been designed to look like a holiday home. There's hope for us all yet! Thank you for the info Jessica at Nordic Space.

For more weekend retreat / holiday inspiration I am loving these homes (warning: could take you a good hour to scroll through them all - this home will come up first but just go on passed it).

Have a lovely Monday and see you tomorrow!

A Malmö home with a touch of brass

I do love to come across homes from here in Southern Sweden. This one is currently for sale through Bo-laget (come and join the Malmö massive!). Decorated in monochrome tones the apartment is a real case of spot the designer piece....with a few real favourites of mine too!

Bo-laget via 79 ideas

I spy the Eames DSR chairs in black (15% off with MYSCAN), Wishbone chair, Tom Dixon bronze copper Shade light, Knoll diamond armchair (both on sale! :)

The apartment itself has beautiful bones, and although I live in a house I often dream about moving into one of the beautiful old apartments inthe centre of town (is the grass always greener?!).

Other beautiful homes from Bo-laget here, here and here. Which one is your favourite?

Have a wonderful weekend!

A splash of yellow in a Skåne home

Thank you so much to Dagny for sharing her office in yesterday's guest post. Moving from Iceland to Sweden for today's post, here's a house from our home county of Skåne (Fladie to be precise!). This family home currently for sale is a perfect blend of white, exposed brick and industrial with a few Scandinavian design classics and the odd pop of sunny yellow.

Bo Center

Such a great combination, I could live here, could you?

I spy the Eames DAR chairs (15% off with code MYSCAN), the yellow bumling light and Knoll Diamond chair.

I do love a splash of yellow, it's such a happy colour. See other perfect examples of how yellow can add a ray of sun to a home here.

Do you have any yellow in your home?

Guest post: Dagný Björg, Feel Inspired

Hi there! I'm Dagný Björg from Feel Inspired Blog filling in while Niki's away. Hope you've had a lovely start of twenty-fourteen. Did you make any new year's resolutions? I make a few each year although they pretty much stay the same year after year. Mine include the classics like exercise more often, cook more at home, try out more recipes and get more organized. To stay organized I started off by cleaning out my office area. I had a shelf besides my desk that got cluttered very easily and so I stored all of that away so that the environment in which I study is calm and easy. I am still looking for the perfect little rug though, my feet get so cold on these tiles.

The desk and trestles are from IKEA, the box to store paper clips and other little things is from Ferm Living, I have my HAY spinning top right next to it. The calendar and stool were designed by me. Notebook, diary and pen I bought from Hrím. And what is a desk without a coffee cup? Mine is from Design Letters.

Thanks to Niki for having me over. Hopefully I'll see you over at my Feel Inspired Blog.

Tuesday DIY: a fab walk-in wardrobe on a shoe-string

In the first chapter of The Happiness Project, Gretchen Rubin talks about how de-cluttering and organising your home is the first step to feeling happier. I have to say, I admire people who make organising spaces look so effortless. One girl who knows her stuff is the talented interior designer Nina Holst from the Norwegian blog Stylizimo. She created this fab DIY walk-in-wardrobe on a shoe-string budget.

Nina Holst, Stylizimo with kind permission

I spy two MALM chest of drawers, the STOLMEN used as a clothing rack, BYGEL which nina spray painted herself in gold, and two LEDSJÖ lamps all from IKEA.

To read more about how Nina created this space you can check out the original post here.

I would love to organise my jewellery and sunglasses in the same way in my dressing room. Thanks so much for the idea Nina! For more cool wardrobe inspiration you can always check here.

And if you're up for other DIY ideas this week you might want to check out this simple dotted wall, a cloud shaped door mat or a wall clock using a leather belt. So simple yet so cool.

We are traveling South (in Thailand) tomorrow so I am handing the reigns to Dagny of Icelandic blog Feel Inspired for the day. Have a lovely day and I'll be back Thursday!

A fab home tour with a twist

Happy Monday! This year I've shown at least three homes for sale through Fantastic Frank. Honestly, looking through their website is like flipping through an interior magazine! So you can imagine how excited I was to find Fantastic Frank have collaborated with Swedish label MES DAMES to shoot home. With roots in France and now based in Stockholm, MES DAMES was founded by designer Lisa Wikander and creates beautifully tailored and cool clothes with a twist for women. Love the home and am so excited about the whole idea...so inspiring!

A round bed? Why not?!

See more images of the home and collection here, or for a complete write up check out the FF blog

Other exciting Fantastic Frank inspiration include this, this and this post.

Or if you'd like to take a peek inside the homes of other fashion designers check out this or this home. So wonderful!

This home has totally got me thinking about who I'd team my home with. Perhaps Danish fashion brand Sofie Schnoor? Or my other staple favourite clothing company Day? Who would you team your home with?

Have a lovely day!

A fresh, bright and beautiful Dutch cottage

I do love a weekend escape. This white country cottage belonging to interior designer and co-owner of NU interieur /ontwerp Nathalie Fransen, architect Bas Van Egmond and their three children in the Netherlands hits the mark! The Dutch cottage has been renovated into a beautiful, fresh, light space using among other things, a lick of white paint, a new kitchen and bathroom. For a relatively small space of 34 metres square this family weekend retreat gives an illusion of space. Take me there!

Holly Marder for Decor8

I love this cottage, it has everything I could dream of in a holiday cottage, how about you?

You can see more pictures and read more about this Dutch space here

For more Scandinavian retreat inspiration you might want to check out this page (warning: you might want to pour yourself a coffee first, you could wile away a good hour looking through these Scandinavian rural retreats!).

Have a lovely weekend!

PS we're off to the jungle here in Thailand for the weekend, exciting! See you Monday.

The black and white workspace of a Finnish blogger

A few weeks ago I posted a beautiful collaborative workspace in San Francisco and it was so popular I thought I'd post about another inspirational office today (because we can't all be on holiday in the Philippines!). This black and white work corner belongs to the editor of Finnish blog Lily. One of the things I love most about this corner is that it totally blends in to the area around it (love the black leather sofa). I could certainly sit here and blog, could you work here?

Lily with kind permission
The space includes an Eames DSR chair (15% discount with code MYSCAN) and the Aröd task light from IKEA.

You can also see her mix and match dining space here. Love the way she's photographed it don't you?

I also love this Norwegian work space, this beautiful white and light wood work area and this art studio. How about you?

Have a lovely day!
