An open family space in Gothenburg

For those of you who felt yesterdays home was a little too minamilist  (I really enjoyed reading your comments!), here's a slightly more cosy, family home for you In Gothenburg, Sweden. Stadshem have cleverly styled this Swedish apartment so that every corner is functional and inviting with soft textiles thrown over sofas, chairs and the bed. I love how the space is so open with large double doors thrown open creating a feeling of movement.

Any favourite features?

The more I look at the home tours each day the more impressed I am that the spaces look so complete. I have sooooo many projects on my to do list but just can't seem to get anything ticked off. And then of course before I do anything it's a weigh up - 'new white floors and wood burning stove...or a family holiday'?! You can imagine which wins :) Does anyone else feel like this? Or is your home decorating complete?

PS On a brigher note, did you manage to pack 20 things off for recycling yesterday?! Mine are already bundled and ready to go! And tonight, I might just find another 20.....I'm getting into this now!

A beautiful, minimal Danish home

Morning all! I hope you all had a lovely weekend? Here it was er 'fresh', infact it snowed. So I decided to do some de-cluttering and went on a mission to throw away ( read donate to charity) 20 items I didn't need / want/ like anymore. And it was so satisfying, I could definitely recommend it. This beautiful Danish home by Studio Baki Architects is a perfect example of a clutter free space and will be my inspiration for the week as my de-cluttering continues!

Photography Tim Wahlfried (with kind permission) for Studio Baki Archtiects via Jelanie Shop

*sigh* so many beautiful pieces but if I had to pick one it would be the Tom Dixon Copper Shade Light. What about you?!

Do you have too many things in your home? Or have you got the perfect balance?

A beautifully renovated Finnish cabin

Spring has sort of arrived in Scandinavia and summer cottages are starting to be prepped for weekend visits and the wonderful month of July. This newly renovated cottage in the Finnish archepelegoes belongs to the editor behind inspiring blog Time of the Aquarius, and her partner and three children. It really has been a labour of love through the winter (trust me, I've seen the 'before' pictures!) but the work they've done so far is simply stunning.

Time of the Aquarius

The cottage is about three hours from their home (by car and ferry) and they plan to spend their long summer days their with their three children. How idyllic! Do you have a summer cottage or a weekend retreat?

Before I shoot off for the weekend, I have an important announcement......

.....the Lucky winner of the fab ML Design industrial pendent light (drum roll please...) is Britta Högström. Mette will be in contact with you to organise delivery. Thank you to everyone who entered!

And here's my round-up of fab not-to-be-missed interior news from the web:

If there's one interior site you must visit this weekend it's this Tumblr - it made me laugh so much. Thanks for the tip Mariela!

If you love Finnish style (errr hello!) and a great make-over, check out Varpunen for a fab before and after.

I have a friend who has been talking about getting a new sofa for two years (not even an exaggeration, it could be longer). This uber cool list of top ten sofas is for you Ullis.

And finally, because we all love a home tour.....check out this East London home tour courtesy of Living Etc complete with beautiful Wishbone chairs. And a beautiful Scandinavian inspired Melbourne home.

I hopy you all have a wonderful weekend! See you Monday!

An apartment in black, white and blue

Hi guys, I'm back! I had such a lovely time skiing with my family and friends in St Anton in the Austrian Alpes, have you been there? I'm already missing the mountains but it's also lovely to be home. I hope you all had a lovely Easter too? This Stockholm home is a recent edition to the Fantastic Frank 'for sale' portfolio. I love the white, black and blue colour scheme and as usual, fab styling!

Stylist: Sofie Ganeva.  Photograher: Emily Laye for Fantastic Frank

Which accent colour would you choose to go with black and white? I think I would go for dusty pink or the colour of the moment - apricot.

While I was away the very lovely Charlotte Minty published an inspiration profile interview with me. You can pop over and read it if you like here.

Have a lovely day!

Guest post: Monochrome in Malmö

I'm Hanna from Doyoufancythis.com. It's such an honour to write a guest post here at My Scandinavian Home and I wanted to find the perfect home to show you. Since I know Niki likes monochrome colors and interiors in black and white I think this Malmö apartment is perfect for the occasion. This minimalistic, yet cozy space is located in the picturesque square of Davidshall in Malmö and is really something else. Just look at those great white walls and the dark wood, the almost to-good-to-be-true terrace and the sophisticated colors throughout. I hope you'll enjoy this lovely apartment and Niki, have a great vacation! /Hanna of Doyoufancythis.com.
