A charming, small swedish home in white and pastels

Hello there! Although we all may still be feeling the cold snap of winter (brrrr!), the days are getting longer and I'm starting to feel spring is around the corner (optimist, me?!). That's why I thought I'd share this lovely Swedish home decorated in white with pops of pretty pastel and floral detail throughout. It belongs to Stockholm-based photographer, stylist and journalist Emmy Lundström (who blogs here). Watch out for the clever space-saving ideas too (loving the window / wall divider). Enjoy!

I do love this space. It's fresh and cute all at the same time with some really lovely feminine touches.

Is this your kind of style?

Get the look: sofa, pirum parum print, source a large ruler here, find similar rugs here, linen beddingvintage brown bottle, source vintage floral wrapping paper / wallpaper here.

Other homes with a pastel touch include a lovely home in a former kindergaten, and the cosy and relaxed home of a Norwegian blogger. Oh go on then. Here's the entire decorating with pastels archive.

A charming one room Swedish apartment

After two days rushing around it's lovely to be back home again enjoying a slow morning - coffee by my side (loving my new brewer), candles lit, snow outside the window, ah, so civilised! Today's home tour is a master class in how to decorate a one room apartment  (it's mere 45 m2 - (480 f2) - really!).  The space has everything - lovely open kitchen and dining area, cosy sitting room, private sleeping nook (tucked behind the wall), and even a cosy chill-out corner (above the bedroom).  Loving the white floors, pretty pastel accents and fabulous artwork too! What a charming studio?

VĂĄningen & Villan

Could you imagine pottering around here today? I certainly could!

Get the look: source industrial pendant lights here, Smeg refrigerator, Aröd floor lamp. Although not sold in a pair - how nice is this vintage wall lamp - I might buy it to go opposite my scissor lamp?), mix and match pastel chairs. Does anyone know who the large piece of art is by? If so wonderful if you can leave a comment below.

A lovely light-filled Dutch family houseboat

Yaaaay, it's the weekend (almost)! The sun's shining and I can see the sea sparkling in the distance (definitely heading off for a swim shortly!)....but first today's tour. Could you imagine anything more wonderful than living on a house boat at this time of year? Brought up in a sailing family, I was practically born on a boat and this would be my dream come true, but it does conjure up images of a rather dark, cramped living space. Not in this Dutch house boat captured by Binti Home though. Located a mere 10 minutes from the centre of Amsterdam, Annelie (co-owner of Bynorr.nl), Hans and baby Scott's home is flooded with natural light. The self-designed open-plan space is uncluttered with fresh white walls and pretty pastel accessories.  The only real hint that it's afloat is from the water seen from the living room window. Such a lovely family home, don't you think?

Homeowner: ByNorr.nl. Binti Home (shared with kind permission). Featured in Flair Magazine.

Apart from the fresh colours, patterns and light wood I think my favourite thing about this home is the mix-match coffee tables in the living room. How about you?

I love the cute children's room too. For similar inspiration it's well worth popping over to fellow Malmö blogger Paul et Paula. My favourite online children shops right now are The Youngsters (owned by my talented interior designer friend Genevieve who also lives in Malmö and who I recently collaborated with on my little girls bedroom) and British/Swedish brand Indikidual (Syreeta used to live here too!) - so lucky to be surrounded by such talented people!

There are a load more pictures of this lovely home plus a full write-up over at Binti Home and Flair Magazine (in Dutch).

For more inspiration from Holland this weekend (after all, the Dutch do have such a great sense of style don't they?) there's an entire archive here (scroll through the first one as it's most likely this home).

Have a wonderful couple of days and for those of you in America...long weekend!

PS if you fancy a dip this afternoon but have no where to go - you can always imagine yourself relaxing in one of these beautiful swimming pools. Love!

The happy home of Marij Hessel volume II

The Dutch home of My Attic blogger Marij Hessel was one of the most popular posts of 2014, and for good reason! I was therefore soooo excited to discover the Dutch designer has taken some new shots of her delightful home (and I also found some oldies which haven't been showed here before too). Her white walled and floored home acts as a blank canvas for pretty pastel cushions a mix of scandinavian modern and mid-century finds and bold prints. Marij - we love your style!

Photographs / styling / homeowner: Marij Hessel, My Attic shared with kind permission.

The Dutch really do know how to add colour don't they? And this is the year for it, as we starting to see bold colours enter the home in a big way.

A few items from Marij's home I love:  The black and white diamond rug is from Urban Outfitters (who incidentally have the most fab textiles right now, I've just ordered this rug and cushion for my home). Find similar mid-century bureaus on LiveAuctioneers.  Artek 66 chairs in the dining area.

The boho trend has already brought us pom pom blankets and Macrame wall hangings. And now hanging plant holders are sneaking into the picture too, I'm loving these chevron  and macrame ones.

More Dutch home inspiration here (for fab neon paint) and here (for pretty pastels) - and if you fancy visiting Holland this spring / summer I love this delightful city house and this idyllic cabin for rent.

Have a lovely day!

A charming and relaxed Dutch home

This lovely home by a canal in Amersfoort, The Netherlands, oozes charm and happiness. The family of four - Irene, her husband and two little girls - designed the living space themselves and centred everything around the home-made dining table where they like to gather. When Irene is not working as an assistant Product Manager she is busy hunting for flee market finds and working on cool DIY projects around her home which are documented on her blog. I love the relaxed, personal  feel of the space. It makes me want to embark on a few DIY projects of my own, how about you?

Anything that stands out to you in particular?

I really like the kitchen dresser. Irene painted it in several colours before deciding on mint green (try Farrow & Ball Teresa's green or Pale Powder for a similar effect). Other Dutch homes with great examples of hand painted furniture include this and this home).

You can see more of this home captured by Celine Nuberg and a full write up (in Dutch) here.

Since we're going all out Dutch today - you might want to check out other fab homes from The Netherland's previously featured here including this, this and this one. I love the use of colour!

Have a lovely day!

PS I'm so pleased to see the return of wonderful sponsor Dorayaky, a shop selling 100% handmade bags. Each bag is designed and manufactured by the creative duo Auroro PĂ©rez and Fernando Albero in their studio in Valencia, Spain. The result is a range of personal handbags which capture their love for design and well-made objects.

A whimsical floral and pastel home in Belgium

It feels strange writing about whimsical florals and pretty pastels while there's snow on the ground, but that's exactly what sets this home apart.  The space belongs to Yvonne Eikkenduijn, her husband Bo and 3 hens in Lommel on the Belgium-Dutch border. Yvonne describes her style as -Scandinavian -English, and I see an element of Dutch too. Yvonne is a photographer, blogger, and author of two books: yvestown in the kitchen and weekend ontbijtboek. She also bakes a mean cake. I could imagine hanging out here with the smell of freshly baked cake hanging in the air, how about you?!

Holly Marder. Homes with Heart Decor8.

Is this your kind of style?

A few items I know and love: Smeg fridge, Cath Kidsen wallpaper, Muuto E27 light, Bertoia chair. Paint a cupboard in Farrow & Ball Middleton Pink for a similar effect.

See more pics and read about Yvonne's home here.

Have you been to Belgium? I'm working with a Belgium interior designer Mieke Van Roey this week and she says Ghent is fabulous for interior design shopping. I'm also keen to visit this restaurant in Brussels and perhaps do a little clothes shopping in Antwerp. And of course - a stop at Yvonne's home for a slice of cake would be nice too! Belgium is officially added to my travel board!

Yvonne's home has been beautifully captured by Holly Marder for her Homes with Heart column. Holly came to visit last year and at the same time photographed Tina's fab home. Her bedroom is one of the most popular posts ever featured on My Scandinavian Home! And I've featured lots of homes she has styled / photographed in Holland including this, this and this home. I can't wait to see what she does next!

Have a lovely day!
