A lovely laid back flat in Malmö, Sweden

Hello! How was your weekend?! We headed out for a walk and barbecue in the forest on Saturday (one of our favourite ways to wile away a day) and then yesterday I had a photo shoot at my friend Gen's flat (you might recognise her name as I've featured her fab office and kitchen before), it was so much fun! More pics to follow later on in the week. Meanwhile, just round the corner is another cosy apartment which has just gone on the market.  There is something so warm about this space, don't you think? Enjoy!

I love how relaxed and personal this space feels!

It makes me want to string some lights up and paint a few walls (Farrow & Ball sells similar colours)....and as for that Palm Jungle wallpaper?! Love it!

I also love the vintage kimono- not only does it make a perfect robe, it also adds to the decor too!

Other items I know and love in this southern Sweden apartment: sitting room / dining area Stockholm sofa in Sandbacka green from IKEA, Eames chairs, string lights, source vintage botanical school posters here (this one from Slovakia is particularly lovely!).   Outdoors - Gotland sheepskin.

A new find for my home!

I made an exciting discovery this week. I've been planning a new nook in my sitting room and looking for something fab to break up the white walls. My search led me to these beautiful handmade mobiles. Sold through Lappalainen, each mobile is handmade to order in the couple's studio in an old warehouse building in Hanau near Frankfurt, Germany. The designs include brass dot, black brass, copper copper and mobile brass (my favourite) as well as plenty of other versions. What a find?! Oh and they ship worldwide too - perfect!

A soothing Swedish space that ticks every box

Happy Friday! Yay! The sun's come out here in Malmö just for the occasion (either that or the weather elves read Wednesday's post and got the fear!! Ha!). This week we've been rocking around the world (virtually speaking of course)- with beautiful home tours in New Zealand, The Netherlands, and California, I hope you've enjoyed the ride! But today I really felt it was time to come home (it'd be kinda rude not to when the sun's come out specially, right?!). In my mind, this lovely family home in Gothenburg ticks absolutely every box - including beautiful high ceilings, large windows, a dining area bathed in light, a lovely work space, plenty of storage and two beautiful bedrooms! Oh and there's also the soothing neutral tones and two masonry ovens to cosy up to. Can I move in please?!

A studio is transformed into a lovely guest room

How wonderful would it be to have a dedicated guest room with a big double bed, made up with fresh, soft bed linen and light pouring in from the windows? For most of us this isn't a reality so we have to make do with the rooms we already have. But who's to say they can't be transformed into a warm and inviting guest room?!  My talented friend Holly Marder for example, uses a sofa bed in her studio in The Netherlands to transform the space into a private sphere for guests when they come to stay. Plus I noticed, that she has even left out a few noteworthy coffee table books (eh hem!) on the nightstand for them to peruse!

What a great solution? It helps that her studio is absolutely lovely too. I think it might be time I nipped over to The Netherlands to pay her a visit, don't you?! Te he he!

Any ideas to share on how to make a guest room inviting? I try to live by the following:

- Give a little guided tour when they arrive so they can find everything they need and feel at home
- Leave out a little welcome package in their room that includes: a towel, hair towel (better still, a hair turban - I love these!), dressing gown, slippers and wifi code.
- Place a pile of recent magazines (and a few coffee table books I know they'll love) on the night stand.
- Fresh flowers in the bedroom also add a wonderful touch!
