A Swedish Cottage Straight from an Astrid Lindgren Story

While the city might be a little dark and grey right now, the countryside is bursting with vibrant autumn colours, and country homes are truly having their moment. Cue: endless daydreams about swapping city streets for gravel driveways and apple trees (it’ll likely never happen, of course, but it’s fun to imagine!).

That’s exactly where my mind wandered when I stumbled upon this dreamy house in Malmby, west of Stockholm. The fairy tale-like property dates back to 1927 and feels like something straight out of an Astrid Lindgren story.

And something extra special happens when a house like this finds the right owner, and this one clearly has. Green is the colour of choice throughout, flowing from the conservatory and kitchen to the living room and bedroom. It’s a calm, grounded shade that ties the whole home together, natural, timeless and wonderfully traditional.

Meanwhile, every corner tells a story: a ceramics collection lined up on the windowsill, a cupboard brimming with textiles, patterned upholstery and curtains, and perfectly chosen vintage pieces. It’s the kind of home that feels cherished. I can’t help but hope the next owner will treasure it just as much. Could that be you? Take the tour… but fair warning, you might just fall in love!

Wonderful – so much soul! Did you feel it too?

I bet this house is as cosy as can be at this time of year, but it also comes into its own in summertime, when you can throw open all the windows and doors.

Is green your shade? I have surprisingly little of it at home in the city, but I think it’s a particularly lovely shade for a country home. Do you agree?

Would you like to see a few more country homes on this autumn day in November?

Inside a Beautiful Light Swedish Villa That’s Bathed in Natural Light

Do you ever find yourself slipping onto estate agent websites, dreaming over local villas that are wildly out of budget — but irresistible all the same? It’s a pastime I’m no stranger to. I confess, on more than one occasion, I’ve even turned up to viewings — Per in tow — looking completely bewildered!

This villa, to me, is one of those dreamy homes. Had it been closer, I’d have certainly signed up for the viewing!

Located in picturesque Gamla Enskede, Stockholm, the villa has everything I love in a home: a pretty façade, a beautiful, light and airy entrance (complete with a window seat — after all, a girl needs to be comfortable when taking off her shoes, right?), large open-plan rooms, each with a traditional tiled masonry fireplace, high ceilings, a dining nook drenched in light, and the perfect party kitchen! Be still, beating heart.

While it's simply decorated, the fresh white, grey and green tones create the perfect blank canvas to springboard into your own design palette, ready for your signature touch. Time to get those Pinterest moodboards going? Oh, what fun I could have with this one.

Breathtaking property! It’s all that sunshine pouring in that I really love. One of the beautiful things about open-plan living is how the entire space feels light, airy, and spacious, creating a wonderful sense of calm.

Could you imagine living in a Swedish house like this? If so, you can find out more about it here. And if you happen to be the lucky one to snap it up… could I at least invite myself over for a cup of tea?

Would you like to see a few more dreamy Swedish villas this bright and sunny Monday? Take a look at:

Here's to a little dreaming at the start of the week!

Soft Greens and Floral Dreams: A Gothenburg Apartment Tour

It's Friday, the sun is shining, and spring is in the air here in Sweden! Throughout the city, small signs of spring are popping up everywhere—from delicate first buds appearing on rose bushes clinging to the sides of houses to vibrant crocuses brightening the roadsides. Even so, when you live in an apartment high above the city, nature and the changing seasons can sometimes feel distant. That's why I was so captivated by this lovely Gothenburg home.

Laid out over two floors—with a brand-new loft conversion—the apartment has been thoughtfully decorated in soft shades of green, creating a wonderful sense of harmony throughout the living space. Even more charming, subtle botanical-themed wallpaper adorns the walls, while floral textiles decorate the bedroom beneath an oil painting of blooms arranged in a vase. And throughout the home, you'll find pretty yet simple displays of fresh spring flowers.

A gentle reminder for us all to pick up our Friday flowers!

Another aspect of this Swedish apartment that caught my attention was the blend of materials—warm wood and exposed brickwork create visual interest and contribute beautifully to the mix of old and new elements throughout the space.

Ready for a look around? Let's go!

It's definitely the raw materials that caught my eye—such a clever way of highlighting architectural details that you might not have noticed otherwise.

Despite the more minimalistic feel of the decor (the flat is currently for sale via Entrance), glimpses of personal touches shine through, such as this floral retro stool beside the bed and the pink Panton chair!

I realise that without ALL the images, the gymnastic rings and ropes might seem strange, but if you click here for the complete tour, you'll also see a nice children's room, which explains their presence!

Is there anything that stood out to you in particular about this Gothenburg loft? If so, I'd love to hear your thoughts below as always!

For a few more Scandinavian city apartment tours this weekend check out:

Did you see the tours earlier this week? If not, don't miss Anna's coastal home on a Swedish island (I loved reading all your comments!) and a rustic surfer's cabin that's currently for sale in Tasmania, complete with its own Headland!

Have a fantastic weekend all!
