My home: kitchen star

Hello! Well can you believe it, it's still snowing?! And my Mum called me from London this morning all excited as it's snowing there too! ('What's all the fuss about?' I hear you guys North of South Sweden asking?! haha!). Today I thought I'd share a couple of pics from my kitchen. I have a bit of a black, white, light grey and wood theme going on. And of course a star for a touch of Christmas.

My Scandinavian Home

The mat on the floor is a traditional Swedish Tasmatta  (rag rug) which are handwoven on a loom using strips of recycled cloth.  Believe it or not, Swedish friends, I bought these two rag rugs in Jysk! I love that they have strips of silver cloth mixed in with the weave.

The tray is the Bricka Plattan by Barbro Tryberg.

Dreaming of a white Christmas

The world outside my window is covered with a thick blanket of snow and even as I write the snow is falling silently from the sky,  a real Swedish winter wonderland! To celebrate, here's a beautiful home festooned with white Christmas decorations styled by Sarah Ellison for Real Living. Even the bathroom has a touch of festive spirit which. So for those of you who don't have snow, this is the perfect way to bring a touch of 'white Christmas' indoors!

My home: Christmas tree

I hope you had a lovely weekend! Here in Sweden we were in for a treat - SNOW! According to tradition my little family and I went out to a sustainable forest and chopped down our own tree which we celebrated with glögg and hot chocolate (it was minus 5 after all BRRRRR!). Here are a few pictures of our shiny new Christmas tree!

Soft pastels and bold brights in Malmö

It's the weekend - woohoo! Before I dash off I wanted to share this apartment which is currently for sale here in Malmö. It's in Rörsjöstaden which is packed with beautiful buildings from the late 19th /early 20th century. What caught my eye the most is the pretty sitting room, I love the colours in the cushions and the mix of art on the wall. Another interesting thing about this home is how it starts off all white and soft pastels and then suddenly, the home office /creative room takes on an entirely different colour scheme altogether........

Any thoughts on why this happened?! I have some theories....:)

Do you have a running colour theme through out your home or do you switch according to the purpose of the room?

Right folks, time to head home. I'm so happy that it's finally OK to let loose all the Christmas decorations!
