The serene home of a Norwegian photographer

Hello, how are you today?! I'm so inspired by bloggers who capture their home in beautiful ways and inspire with their daily vignettes, creativity and beautiful photography. A fine example of this is the Norwegian blogger / photographer  Elisabeth Heier who features inspiring daily snapshots of her serene white home (if you don't already follow her blog I can definitely recommend it!). Here are a few her latest images.

Simple yet beautiful and serene. I love the layers of white. The black and white photo montage, and the spring flowers. I spy a stool like mine (which I bought from Lovely & Co). I also love the Kubus 4 candleholder - I'm holding out for the copper one which arrives in stores at the end of March.

What do you like most about this home?

Previous shots of Elisabeth's beautiful home can be found here, and her previous home here. So lovely don't you think?

Have a lovely day!

Subtle Festive Touches in a Norwegian Home

Morning! I'm a little bleary eyed after a red eye flight from New York, which landed at 7 a.m. this morning at Copenhagen (1am USA time) GUH!!! I think I'm on my third coffee and it's not working - help! Jet lag tips welcome! Despite my cloudy mind, I wanted to stop by and share some beautifully subtle Christmas decorations in the Norwegian home of photographer Elisabeth Heier (you might recall this inspiring post of her Christmassy home a few years back!). Elisabeth has gone for a 'less is more' approach this year since she is moving shortly. Even so, I absolutely love the festive touches, calm tones (with a hint of wine-red) and the combination of the grey with brass. Enjoy!

Oh so lovely! Everything looks so calm and organised! I could quite happily sleep off my jet lag here!

Is there anything that stands out to you?

Get the look: Pick up pretty brass Christmas ornaments at Ferm Living (incidentally - I also spotted a brass Christmass tree stand in the webshop too - love that!), I love this elegant candlestick holder by SKULTUNA, small brass tree.

I'm going to do my best to pop back in before the weekend kicks off but since I'm fading fast I'd better say 'have a wonderful' weekend now (just in case!).

See you Monday!

PS I was happy to see a write-up in the New York Times about Scandinavian-themed books this week (even more so, because it includes my Lagom Book - yay!). It's worth taking a peek if you fancy taking it easy this holiday with a nice (Scandi-inspired) book or two!

Cosy sitting room the Norwegian way

There's a distinctive chill in the air here in Southern Sweden (how about where you are?) and I've noticed people are starting to get out their cosy knits BRRRRR! When I feel a nip in the air it always makes me romanticise about long walks in the snow followed by a steaming cup of hot chocolate (with a touch of rum) while thawing feet by the fire. This sitting room from the home of Norwegian blogger and photographer Elisabeth Heier is a firm favourite - just look at that wood burning stove and log storage!

I love the hall way too - I think that's a House Doctor rug - beautiful!

I'm a big fan of Elisabeth's styling and photography (as you well know!) and have posted on her home before here and here. So beautiful!

If you're on the look out for wood burning stoves as I am check out these homes....

PS I loved the discussion on Facebook yesterday on 'all white homes' so many different opinions!

Have a lovely, cosy day!

The perfect Norwegian home for a summer's day

When the sun shines in Sweden I feel the need to spend the entire day outside (I guess this isn't the case when you live somewhere warm and sunny all year round?!). But there is an exception to this. The Norwegian home of blogger and photographer Elisabeth Heier is one of those spaces where you could easily flit between inside and outside on a beautiful day, depending on your mood. Not only is the home bright and airy but it also has several different places you can sit and relax with a book or magazine - window nook, dining table, outdoor terrace....and still enjoy the warmth of natural sunlight and the nature beyond. I could spend a summer's day here could you?

Elisabeth is such a wonderful photographer and her blog is almost entirely made up of pictures she has taken of her own home. So impressive!

See previous posts from her home herehere and here.

I spy a few classic items I love: Knoll Diamond chair and Eames side chair DSR.

I hope you have a lovely Wednesday!

A beautiful Norwegian home in summer time

Hello! How's your week going? Today I thought I'd revisit one of my favourite Norwegian homes - that of photographer Elisbeth Heier. Her home is in a state of constant change, with fresh updates almost every week.  Right now it's looking beautiful and summery with pools of light, fresh greenery and a lovely terrace. And there'll always be that famous window nook. Let's take a look at what's happening in Elisabeth's home...

Photography: Elisabeth Heier shared with kind permission.

Oh how I could spend the day flitting between the sunlounger and the daybed with a great book, how about you?! Also love these outdoor spaces and nooks.

And speaking of books I note from Elisabeth's blog that she's been taking a leaf out of Hilary Robertson's beautiful Monochrome Home (take a peek inside here). So worth a read if you love a pared-back black and white space.

You can see more lovely snapshots of Elisabeth's home here and here. I also love these pictures of her home in winter.

Last night I was up until the early hours working on my book (I had to wait until the girls had gone to bed)- I'm getting so excited now as I'm nearly there!! Will definitely let you know once it's finished! While I was working I took a look around my usual favourite blogs for a little new energy. One post really stood out. Everyone loves to ask 'what's your favourite colour'? but Oh Joy asks 'What's your least favourite colour'? And the answer is so much more interesting! Mine's red - it makes me feel stressed - you'll never see me wearing it or find it in my home. What's your least favourite colour?

Have a lovely day!

The cosy and relaxed home of a Norwegian blogger

Well hello there! It was a long time since I showed a Norwegian home, too long I'd say. So I thought you might like today's home tour for two reason: firstly it will introduce you to a wonderful Norwegian blog: Marsipan og Smilefjes (unless of course you already follow it?) and secondly these images taken by the blog author Marthe of her own home which she shares with Rasmus, Mathea and Anna will make you feel like you're right there in a her relaxed cosy white and wood house in Norway. So lovely, don't you think?

What a beautiful home don't you think?! I love the touch of pastel (although I'm a 'hot' colour wannabe I'm a real pastel girl at heart, how about you?).

Other bloggers homes I love include the Norwegian home of Elisabeth heier, the serene home of a Swedish fashion blogger and the home of a Danish fashion blogger. If you're up for a little more inspiration today you can always have a fun snoop around the Norwegian home tours I've shown here previously (scroll passed this one as it will come up first).

I hope you have a lovely day!

My big Easter DIY egg edit

Do you have any Easter holiday traditions? Every year the girls and I come to London to spend it with my parents (P stays behind in Sweden to get our boat ready for the season, which is actually one of the highlights of his year - men?!). Besides the annual Easter egg hunt (we like the trail at Ham House), the girls and I also love to decorate the home with handmade pieces. This year we're taking inspiration from these fab eggs (and a bunny napkin for the easter table - how cute is that?!)....

Will you be making any of these?!

Just in case, here's how:

1 and 2: Love the cute bunny ear tiaras by Zwo:ste
3: Girl.Inspired made these fab eggs with gold glitter.
4, 5: The talented Elisabeth Heier describes how to make these pretty gold eggs here. And pretty eggs with feathers.
5: I'm loving these glam 'pendant' eggs by Lene Bjerre
6: These delicate flowers in egg shells are so simple yet so pretty.
6: This year's 'marble' effect eggs by Nina Holst
7:  Find out how to make these bunny napkins here.

Other Easter holiday links I love:

Easter DIY ideas from Sweden (that 'black egg' table decoration).

Beautiful linen for your Easter table (buy similar here - or how about this linen one with ruffles - I know?!)

Free printable Star Wars Easter Bunny Boxes.

Easter carrot cake, and the most delicious looking maple dijon roasted carrots

Veggie Easter 'nest' recipe.

Have an eggcellent (eh hem) day.....Back tomorrow with one of my usual home tours!
