An Artist's Swedish Home in Soft Coral Tones

Whenever I sit down to write a blog post, I always think, I'll keep this one quick—I have so much to do! And yet, I inevitably find myself agonizing over the pictures, attempting (and failing) to narrow them down to a neat, compact selection. Before I know it, I’ve ended up with over twenty images! But honestly, when a home has so many beautiful corners, how can you not share them all?

That’s exactly the case with Cornelia Berntsson’s home. Nestled in Uppland, north of Stockholm, Cornelia designed this charming cottage herself, where she lives with her partner and their young child. The interior is a warm, inviting mix of pale coral and cream tones, accented with dashes of red and ochre—a delicious combination that feels both soothing and vibrant.

As an artist, Cornelia has filled her home with her own paintings, adding a colourful, playful touch throughout. This creative flair reaches its peak in the hallway, where bold storage and a checkered floor create a theatrical effect—no doubt bringing a smile every time someone steps out the door or comes back home!

Enjoy the pictures—there are plenty to take in!

The children's bedroom and bathroom have both been painted in 'pale coral' from Lycke.

Beautiful!

It can be tricky to get a pinkish hue just right—too much of a blue undertone, and you risk ending up with a bubblegum shade or even something slightly purple. But the pale coral notes in Cornelia's home strike the perfect balance—soft and warm. Do you agree?

I’m a big fan of pairing this with bright red—something we've been seeing a lot in Danish homes, like this one and this one too.

It was also fun to see her art on many of the walls. You can discover more about her work over at @corneliabernts. And there are plenty more angles from Cornelia's home on her instagram @morbyvillan

Is there anything that caught your eye in Cornelia's home?

Why not take a look at a few more artist's homes today? I love:

I mentioned that I have a lot to do this week, and the main reason is that tomorrow, I’m meeting up with my sisters for a hut-to-hut cross-country ski trip in Geilo, Norway! (I have one older sister who lives in Mallorca and one younger sister who lives in London.) Have you ever done something like that? If so, any tips? It’s the first time we’ve ever tried it, so we’re venturing well outside our comfort zone—but after my incredible trip to Bodø and Lofoten last June, I’m keen to discover more of Norway!

The good news is, I’ll be bringing my camera along in the hope of sharing the trip with you on My Scandinavian Home afterwards (you might also like to see some behind the scenes on my instagram stories. The bad news? I won’t be able to take my laptop with me (hey, I know my limits—it just wouldn’t be sensible to carry it on my back along those trails!). So, I’ll be taking a short break but will be back here next Wednesday.

Thank you so much for your patience, I hope you have a wonderful rest of the week!

Niki

PS I am very much looking forward to reading your comments from Monday's post and beyond this evening over a glass of wine, it's always a pleasure!

Step Inside Frederika’s Relaxed and Artistic Stockholm Home

Tjena! Hur är läget?

There’s nothing quite like a cozy home that feels truly lived in. Of course, most homes are full of life in reality—but when it comes to photos, they’re often tidied up for the camera: clutter cleared, paintings straightened, wires neatly tucked away.

As co-founder of the Stockholm-based photography and production agency Sylvie, Frederika Palmstierna is no stranger to beautifully styled and captured interiors. But when it comes to her private Instagram, she prefers a more spontaneous approach—sharing glimpses of her home whenever the mood strikes. It might be a view of her kitchen’s gallery wall as she sips her morning coffee or a snapshot of her dog snoozing on the bed. And in every frame, her unique sense of interior style shines through.

Think mix-and-match dining chairs, charming oil paintings, sculptural figurines, seashells, stacks of well-loved books, and even an incredible mural. Everywhere you look, there’s something to discover.

Enjoy the relaxed tour (and keep a look out for a snoozing 'Caspar'!).

In Sweden, the leaves often don't come out in time for Easter, so it's popular to adorn birch branches with ornaments to create a pretty display—as seen above.

In the bedroom, Frederika has applied Misty Forest wallpaper from Boråstapeter that looks like a beautiful mural.

Lovely! So personal, full of character, and packed with interesting furniture and charming details. A perfect tour to set the tone for the week, don’t you think?

Did anything catch your eye? Any details or ideas you’d love to recreate in your own home? I’d love to hear your thoughts!

In the meantime, here are a few more cozy and relaxed home tours to enjoy on this bright day:

Wishing you all a wonderful start to the week!

Inside Kristina's Light & Airy Copenhagen Home with Statement Lighting

There’s nothing quite like a sunny Friday in Sweden—two reasons to celebrate! Just across the bridge in Copenhagen, I can picture the city buzzing with life as locals spill onto the pavements, gathering in restaurants, cafés, and bars to make the most of the warm spring sunshine we’ve been waiting for.

Kristina Yndgaard and her young family live in Frederiksberg, one of my favourite neighbourhoods in the Danish capital. Kristina’s style is effortlessly pared-back, with soothing earthy tones that, combined with a pale wood floor, create a fresh, airy feel. Her ‘less is more’ approach means every piece she’s chosen stands out, not just for its function but for its beautiful form and design.

As you take in her home, keep an eye out for four very cool lights—each making a statement in its own way. From a sculptural overhead lamp to a perfectly placed table lamp, Kristina’s choices prove just how much lighting can elevate a space. And don’t miss the charming little basket hanging from a door handle or the smart sofa tray—ideal for your morning coffee!

Ready to feel inspired?

The incredible Flotation pendant light over the dining table is by Ingo Maurer and the dining table was a flea market find.

I have a real passion for lighting - and one of my favourites is the Snoopy Lamp - seen here. I love that Kristina has chosen the green version which really stands out and makes a statement. The rattan bar table is vintage.

I love this little wooden tray with a curved underside - it works perfectly for wider sofa arms! A green and white striped cushion adds a cool modern twist to the beige sofa and creates balance with the Snoopy lamp.

The Bestlite collection by Gubi is a Danish classic and extremely popular in Denmark. I am a really big fan! And just how cute is the cot (also known as the Boxspring Co-sleeper)?

Kristina is keen on sewing and has a small side business making everything from baby dummy straps and cushion covers to lamp shades and Christmas decorations out of pretty floral fabrics, evidence of which can be seen on the side of the cot. Check out her work here

I also think this Large Mushroom lamp is also very cute - especially in a children's bedroom!

I hope you enjoyed this little tour of Kristina’s light and airy home—it perfectly captures the mood of a sunny Friday in Copenhagen, don’t you think?

Did any details stand out to you? And what about the lamps? I love how they make such a statement! Lighting plays a huge role in setting the atmosphere in a home, and I’ve noticed a lot of chatter on Instagram lately about avoiding overhead lighting at all costs. Personally, I don’t agree.

I take my cues from the Scandinavians—they know how to create a warm, inviting atmosphere while still keeping things practical. From what I’ve learned, the key to great lighting is variety: a mix of low lighting, tabletop lamps, task lighting, and yes, even overhead lighting. That way, you have the right light for every mood and activity.

If you do have an overhead light, the best approach is to install a dimmer switch. That way, you can brighten the space when you need clear visibility and then soften it for those cosy, relaxed moments. Would you agree?

If you’d like to see more of Kristina’s home—and quite possibly the cutest baby in the world—head over to her Instagram: @kyngaard.

And if you’re in the mood for more beautiful Danish homes today, why not revisit:

A touch of calm in Alisan's serene home
A Copenhagen home full of books and vintage design treasures

Right, that's it from me–I'm off to enjoy a little sunshine and soak up some very much needed Vitamin D! Tomorrow evening we're heading to the theatre to see the Roxette musical 'Joy Ride' - being a Swedish band, Roxette is extremely popular here, as you can imagine! Have you ever been a fan?

I hope you have some fun plans too!

See you Monday! Kram!
