A House and Garden with a Beautiful Greenhouse on The Swedish Island of Gotland

Today I'm taking you to the magical Swedish island of Gotland for a tour of Linnea's romantic home and garden. Linnéa lives in south Gotland with her husband and their two children Lilly and Harry. During the day Linnéa runs interior shop Ladan I Hemse (a must visit if you're on Gotland!) and online baby boutique  Papijjon Sweden together with her best friend Sandra. And luckily for us, she also takes the time to share snapshots of her house and garden - including DIY ideas and her latest flee market finds on her beautiful instagram feed @leitntoinspiration. 

Think deep green and dark brown tones, traditional wallpaper and a nostalgic nod to times gone by.  

Welcome to Linnéa's world!

Linnéa and her family added a greenhouse to their property a couple of years ago. Greenhouses have become highly coveted in Sweden and are used not only for gardening - but also as an extra room! With its Gotland stone foundation this greenhouse is extra pretty! Note how Linnéa has lined the ceiling and walls with fabric to help keep the heat out. A crucial element! 

Simply beautiful!

The Idyllic Thatched Cottage and Garden of a Danish Artist

The work of Danish artist and freelance designer Ane Kirstine Bilde is inspired by flora and fauna - which makes her idyllic country home a perfect base. From the outside, the property on the coast of western Funen is every inch the quintessential country home, with its thatched roof and whitewashed stone walls. Inside, the relaxed vintage and antique furniture helps to accentuate the warm and inviting, yet calm and relaxed feel. look closely and you'll notice every corner of Ane's house is filled with pretty floral motifs and nature-inspired art. In spring, the house comes alive with spring touches from the garden - and life moves outside to the garden and a simple outhouse. Ready to take a look? Velkommen (as they say in Denmark)! 

What a lovely life! I couldn't think of a more perfect home for an artist inspired by nature, can you? 

The outhouse is so pretty. This style of sunroom / greenhouse has become increasingly popular in Scandinavia lately as somewhere to hang out when the weather is less than favourable - but still mild - and prolong the summer! 

Funnily enough, it looks a little like the tiny cabin we have just built - except, of course ours is a contemporary version!

A Vintage Christmas Table Setting in a Swedish Greenhouse

In a time when socialising outdoors in winter has become a thing - there's one particular piece of garden equipment that has exploded in Scandinavia: the greenhouse! Not only are they great for plants (I could really use one for my lemon tree, it's taking over our bedroom like something out of Little Shop of Horrors!), they've become a perfect hybrid setting for indoor / outdoor gatherings! And in wintertime they really come into their own! Just look at this wonderful vintage Christmas setting in Marlene Agemo's garden in Märsta - on a farm just outside Stockholm. The greenhouse is festooned with Christmas cheer with pretty paper flowers (DIY instructions here) hung from string lights, vibrant red touches and an au natural tree. Layers of textiles, candles, and a heater help to keep everyone snug and full of festive cheer while the chickens roam free outside. 

What a beautiful setting! 

I love all the vintage linens (I was excited to find a load of vintage Swedish Christmas linens* and also rolls of farmers linen by the metre* - I love this roll of French sacking* too!) and crockery.

A Pretty Outdoor Autumn Table Setting

Did you see the beautiful Swedish country home of photographer Mari Magnusson on Monday? I've been dreaming about it ever since and couldn't help pouring through her instagram for more Autumn inspiration. And then I stumbled across this outdoor table setting. What a wonderful way to celebrate the season and make the most of the balmy weather before temperatures force us indoors! 

There are so many pretty elements at play - and I'm sure the authors of the book Curate (see yesterday's post!) would be impressed with the natural elements, small imperfections and vintage flair! 

In case you'd like to create a similar look try these items: Mika plate*,  Mika side plate*, Mika soup bowl* from , glass candleholder*, natural linen napkins*, hand blown wine glasses*. And of course add a fabulous bouquet of flowers. 

A bit too chilly? Greenhouses are popping up left, right and centre in Sweden and are a perfect place to prolong the season while still surrounded by nature. If you are lucky enough to have one, why not clear it out and create space for a party? 

So pretty!

Speaking of country homes, I've set up home for three days in a pretty cottage in Blekinge, south Sweden (you might recognise the name from this guide).
