Hello there! Thank you so much for all your lovely birthday messages on Friday! With that little celebration behind me, I’m all set to dive into the festive season! For those of you who’ve been following My Scandinavian Home for a while, you’ll know this is my absolute favourite time of year—not only because the Christmassy touches bring a much-needed sense of warmth and coziness to our homes during the cold weather (brrrrrr), but also because I love seeing the many unique ways people choose to celebrate. Whether it’s embracing ‘Jul’ or simply enjoying the beauty of the winter season, there’s so much inspiration to be found.
You might recognise the Swedish country home of Maria Narvefors from a previous before and after tour. Maria lives with her family in a 19th-century country house just outside Karlskrona. A lover of flea markets and all things handmade, Maria truly comes into her own during the Christmas season, crafting her own decorations with a simple, rustic flair. Think elegant wreaths, garlands made from dried oranges, foil ornaments, and even a handmade star lantern for the window. Let’s take a tour and see how Maria’s lovely home is transformed for the holidays!
I love wall hung candles - they are beautiful all year round, but easy to jazz up with a bow at this time of the year.
Happy Belated Birthday!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Ellen :)
DeleteThank you for sharing this cozy home! I love that many areas were photographed with candle light! Dreamy!! And yes, that play kitchen is the best!! Your posts really help me get into and stay in the Yuletide spirit!!
ReplyDeleteI am so happy you enjoyed this home and that this blog is helping you to stay in the yuletide spirit - yay! There's more to come!
DeleteThank you for posting this beautiful home. It's lovely decorations have put me in the Christmas spirit. I keep enjoying the pictures over and over agin. Can you help me understand the design ascetic of the homes you show. They all appear to be so uncluttered and relaxing. Does your book NJUTA explain this to someone living in the USA where there is clutter everywhere?
ReplyDeleteI am so happy to hear that! I suggest picking up a copy of either my Lagom book or my Njuta book - in the Lagom book there is a chapter dedicated to the 'less is more' home and in my Njuta book there is a chapter about how to create a cosy home that taps into all the senses and brings the seasons indoors :)
DeleteVintage + rustic + handmade. Love it. That star lantern and play kitchen!
ReplyDeleteSo much texture in Maria's just-lovely home, brushed wood and beautiful fabrics. Sage green is my favorite and the children's kitchen and dining:)
ReplyDeleteAmong her Chrismassy things, love the garlands, wreaths and what an idea to use gold and silver foil!
DeleteIt’s all lovely and it also feels so real. You can sense that everyday living takes place among their pretty surroundings! Love the star lantern she made.
ReplyDeleteI am so happy you enjoyed this home Pamela. I am also so impressed by the star lantern she made, it looks so pretty in the window!
