Today, I’m transporting you to the charming thatched cottage of artist and designer Ane Kirstine Bilde to see what she’s up to this time of year. As you can imagine, her home is a hive of creative activity, with Ane at her desk crafting everything from paper snowflakes and sweet-filled cones to hang on the tree, to angel garlands, paper bell gift tags, and embroidered Christmas tree ornaments.
It’s truly inspiring for anyone looking to add their own pretty festive touches to brighten up the home this season! Let’s dive in:
What a sweet cottage! I love the window--it looks like an eye winking at me. I enjoy crafting and creating, especially at Christmas, and I would completely enjoy creating with Ane. All of her creations are gorgeous, but the mushroom house has my heart.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure why, but older homes look cozier to me. Anyone else feel that way, too?
In answer to your question, this year my daughter and I made origami Christmas trees. She made hers into a garland, and I made some of mine into ornaments. I left a few trees free-standing, tucked into different corners. So fun!
I made origami trees this year too!
DeleteI have them all over the house
I love the picture of the dresser with the trees on top
Making the origami trees is addictive! I'm fascinated with how a sheet of paper can become a thing of beauty.
DeleteI usually make simple ornaments with my older grandchildren....last year were pinecone gnomes with an acorn nose. The children foraged for the raw materials at our farm-away-from-home. This year we are doing green painted popsicle stick trees with button ornaments. I too loved the eyebrow window and paper cones- the papers they are made from are gorgeous and the little extra jagged edge embellishments put them over the top! I love this home bursting with creativity!
ReplyDeleteThe small branch of red berries in a glass on the kitchen table first caught my eye - so simple, yet so evocative of the holidays. And those paper angels are lovely!
ReplyDeleteHer home is bustling with creativity! Quilted ornaments, paper angels, the lovely cones and gift tags are all such sweetly sentimental touches. As a fellow reader commented above, the berries on the table was very eye catching and perfectly symbolizes the season. What a wonderful home for celebrating the holidays!
ReplyDeleteI have looked up Ane's home so many times. Its that table-by-the-window-room I dream about, the kind of home I would love to spend the 'twilight' years. Love every bit of this cottage... and the treat cones, paper angels, quilted ornaments...
ReplyDeleteI agree with Kris. The older an home, it seems to get cozier. Or it could be the people who live in it... This year, my daughter is busy or we could make some/bake some. I wouldn't trouble my son... a card he created and a shelf of books he once arranged were eye-openers, though he is great with tools and brute force.
Thank you for sharing Ane's cottage at this time of the year!
