Artilleriet studio in rich dark tones and light pink accents

Popping in early morning before today's photo shoot to share these lovely images from the new Artilleriet studio snapped by one of my favourite Swedish bloggers Johanna Bradford. For those of you not familiar with it,  Artilleriet is a fab interior store in Gothenburg. The studio has been created as part of their 5 year celebrations. I must plan a visit as soon as possible (road trip anyone?!). In the meantime - we can take inspiration from their studio with it's rich dark colours and soft pink accents. So lovely?!

Beautiful! Don't you think?

All the items you see are available Artilleriet - including those wonderful Le Pipe chairs around the table (I feel I need these in my life!).

I'd actually promised myself to take a few days of blogging to focus on my my project this week (go, go, go!) but it's so hard to keep away  -  if I don't manage to post tomorrow I'll be back on Thursday.

Have a fab day!

PS this post isn't sponsored (I always mark them when they are) - I just loved the look of the space!

Harmony and balance in a Swedish home with green accents

Green is known for balancing mental, emotional and physical energies (which is why it feels so great to walk in the countryside). This lovely Swedish home combines calming sage green and grey for a wonderful sense of harmony and balance. Imagine coming back here after a hectic day? It's like a true oasis in the heart of the city. Just what I need after a very long day on location here in Copenhagen!

Photos: Anders Bergstedt for Entrance. Post inspired by Dust Jacket with thanks.

 ......And relax!

A few items I know and love: this shop sells lovely linen bedding, grey pouf, butterfly chair (beautiful!). Try here for vintage suitcases. These boxing gloves. Rustic stool and vintage crates.

For a very, very light grey floor (or 'grey-white') floor I like 'Strong White' paint (which I've used on my bedroom floor).

Other homes with a hint of calming green include this, this and this one.

I'll be on a photo shoot over the next couple of days without a minute to spare so I'm afaid I won't be posting again until Thursday.  Have a relaxed start to the week and see you then!

PS - where I'd rather be this morning....(beautiful feed for anyone who's getting married!).

PPS I was excited to see an interview with me popping up in a Swedish newspaper over the weekend.

Exotic meets boho in a Bali pool villa

Dreaming of a touch of paradise after a long week?  I love the relaxed vibe of this pool villa near the surfers paradise of Batu Bolong beach, Canggu, Bali, Indonesia. Set among palms and lush tropical surroundings, it's been designed so the indoors and out merge into one - with a covered terrace encompassing a sitting room, dining area and an amazing outdoor bathroom. The decor is inspired by 'Mexico and the exotic east' giving the villa a distinct bohemian touch. Aaaaannnd? It's available for rent through Australian swimwear brand Fella - race you to it?

Fella Villa

Guh! I'd swap my indoor shower for this beautiful outdoor shower any day of the week.  I once dedicated a post to showering al freso - so wonderful! I also love this outdoor bath and for something more modern, this shower!

Not quite warm enough or not got the outdoor space for bathing al fresco? This, this and this bathroom will make you feel you're bathing outdoors even in the heart of the city - heaven!

A few items I love from this Bali villa: wooden bar stools, pick up a selection of vintage handmade kilim cushions/ pillows here (for brighter colours try this shop), rugs (this one is especially lovely!) and poufs (this one!). I love this mid-century credenza. Rustic ladder

A few other lovely holiday home rentals to be browsed- with some of my favourites including a Brazilian escape, an ethereal beach house in St Barths and a vintage inspired home in Australia.  Who needs work anyway?!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Incidentally I'm working on an intensive photo shoot early next week (exciting!). I'm going to do my best to blog but the posts might be a little erratic so bear with me!

The Swedish island home of a fashion designer

I stumbled across the Swedish cottage of Carin Rodebjer, fashion designer and creative director / founder of Rodebjer earlier today and had to share it with you! I wonder, if like me, it will set of a sequence of daydreams - starting with beautiful summers, ending up in 'my year on an idyllic Swedish island' (seriously, I got that carried away!)?  Whichever it is, the cottage and barn on the Swedish East coast island of Gotland are undeniably charming, and surrounded by the most beautiful wilderness. What's even more unbelievable is that Carin (who originally hales from Gotland) has put the property on the perhaps our dreams can come true after all?!

Home-owner Carin Rodbjer. For sale through Bertwig

We can't all live in a 19th century Swedish cottage (unless of course you snap this one up!) but we can at least get the look. Here are a few items I love:  for vintage wallpaper this shop is great. I like this and this vintage school / classroom 'plant' sketches.  This is one of my favourite places to source Gotland sheepskin throws. Buy a traditional swedish rag rug here. The little chair and table are from IKEA.

If you're as fascinated by this little island as I am, you might want to check out these other cottages and homes which are equally pared-back and relaxed, and all unique. I once contacted the owner of this one for my book, but sadly it'd been sold. One of these days I'll make it there, I'm sure of it! Have you been?

Are you ready to up sticks and move to a lovely home like this one? Or perhaps you already have your own island cottage - if you do, pleeeease share!

Have a lovely day!

A Swedish space with lovely warm pools of light

It's beautifully sunny here today, the sea is all sparkly and I'm itching to go the beach (should I just drop it all and go?!!). Having said that you don't always need to be outside to enjoy the sunshine - take the bedroom in this lovely Swedish apartment for example. You can practically feel the warmth from the pools of light (and as for that chunky knit blanket). I also get a lovely summer vibe from the white linen curtain billowing in the wind and the balcony (perfect for people watching in the sun with one of these!). The rest of the home is pretty fab too, with a perfect blend of indigo, black and white in the sitting room and stunning herringbone floors. All in all, a great home for a touch of mid-week inspiration, don't you think?!

Oh so lovely! Nice work by stylist Johanna Bagge for Alvhem (photography - Alice Johnsson).

A couple of other items I know and love: chunky knit blanket, white linen curtain, Flos 265 wall light and Tom Dixon beat light. Annalena clothing rail (in the corner of the bedroom).  I'd love to know where that beautiful coffee table is from - any ideas?

A few other links I love today:

This 'Outlanders' video about weaver Maryanne Moodie in Brooklyn (what a lovely home!). If you find weaving tricky - you might like this 'no-weave' DIY wall hanging.

19 genius ways to use IKEA products for your garden. And cactus in a children's room.

A shower with a view (not sure I'd dare use it at night, how about you?!).

How about these this evening?

Have a lovely *sunny* day.

The inspiring home and studio of Maaike Koster

I'm so excited to share the beautiful home and studio of Dutch graphic designer & interior designer Maaike Koster in Haarlem, The Netherlands today. Maaike has an inexhaustable passion for transforming ideas into inspiring concepts, beautiful designs and sophisticated spaces. And fortunately for us she frequently shares her family home, where she references much of her artwork (sold through 'My Deer Art shop') -on instagram (if you don't follow her, you definitely should!). Maaike's home is teeming with vintage pieces, the odd design classic, fabulous art and an abundance of greenery with an overall look which truly reflects her signature style - 'uncomplicated simplicity with a feminine touch'. Enjoy!

Photography / home owner Maaike Koster - My Deer Art Shop. Shared with kind permission.

What a charming home, don't you think?

Did you recognise it? I once featured Maaike's home here in 2013 - although I must say, it's gone through a pretty big transformation since then!

Get the look: All art from My Deer Art Shop. Sitting room - Eames lounge chair & ottoman, beni ourain rug, macrame plant holders and wall hanging. This antique apothocary chest is wonderful! Eames DCW chair. Children's room - source lovely vintage childrens desk and chair sets here. Studio - black work lamp, eames house bird.

See more beautiful Dutch homes here

And if you feel like getting a little creative after seeing Maaike's home, why not give one (or all) of these DIY projects a whirl:

Abstract modern art.

An easy leather strap shelf.

A wooden X shaped magazine holder.

The Icelandic Birch Cocktail- (this counts as DIY, right?).

Have a lovely day!
