An elegant, light and airy Swedish home

Hello! I'm so far behind today with everything. It's one of those crazy pre-Christmas days. I've finally taken myself round the corner to a little café by the sea to get focused on today's home tour. And what a beauty it is! Recently sold through Bjurfors 'exclusive', the designers at Bybon have made the most of the large spacious rooms, parquet flooring and beautiful period features by adding sheer curtains, soft tones and classic furniture. What lovely home staging,  and what a fabulous apartment?! I think a move to Gothenburg is in order, don't you?!

I feel a little calmer now, how about you?!

A few items I love in this home: hay tray table, Z1 cotton pendant light, IKEA daybed, bent wood chairs, stonewashed linen table cloth, buy made-to-order sheer curtains here, sea grass belly basket.

A few more dreamy white and grey homes (over 100 to be precise - crazy, I know!) squirrelled away in this archive. Enjoy!

Have a wonderful, calm day!

PS Thank you to everyone for entering the give-away to win a fab typography poster from Kortkartellet. The winner has now been announced here.... oh the suspense.... and if it wasn't you, no worries, there's another wonderful pre-Christmas give-away going live shortly (watch this space!).

A cosy cocoon-like Swedish home

As the days get darker and colder here in Sweden it's tempting to stay indoors, light candles and cocoon yourself in a jumble of soft blankets (I'm thinking this one!). Although dark interiors might not be for everyone, there's no denying that the elegant home of Swedish stylist Lotta Agaton evokes the feeling of a cosiness with it's grey walls and ceilings and layers of soft textures. I could quite easily curl up here for the day and read books and magazines - how about you?!

This apartment is just so incredibly striking, trust Lotta Agaton to create such a beautiful space (her last home was pretty great too!)! And full credits to photographer Pia Ulin for capturing it so beautifully too!

Is this your kind of style?

A few items I know and love from Lotta's home: Molecular light (although not featured, I also love this table lamp!). Kaare klint safari chair. Brown sheepskin throw. The rug in the hallway looks like a Gan.

For a similar wall colour try Farrow & Ball dark hues. And there's a whole archive dedicated to 'decorating with grey' here.

If you came here looking for Christmas inspiration try here (there'll be more festive posts to follow this week too!).

Have a wonderful day!

PS it's the last day to enter to win a poster of your choice from Korkartellet - hurry

The Scotch™ Brand Tape gift wrapping challenge

In my family I'm known for going all out with the Christmas present wrapping - I'll spend hours over it! And then this year something wonderful happened. I received a mail from Scotch™ Brand Tape (Swedish site here) asking if I was up for a present wrapping challenge - who me? ALWAYS!!!!  It seems we share the same sentiment: 'let no gift go miswrapped this holiday'. A box of gift wrapping heaven arrived in the post a few days later, including no fewer than five different tapes: there was magic tape, gift wrap tape, transparent tape , double-sided tape and expressions tape! Oh joy! After careful deliberation I decided to go super natural with brown and white paper, monochrome ribbons, fresh cuts and a sprinkling of pine cones and lots of the wonderful 'magic tape'! I hope you like the results!

Any guesses what's inside (apart from the obvious one)?!

Do you know how you'll be wrapping your presents this year?

If you're in need of a little inspiration, you could get some tips from Scotch™ Brand Tape magical elves: Scott.E, Smitty, Zoe, Jack and Emily.

Have fun!

This post was brought to you in collaboration with Scotch™ Brand Tape. All words are my own and I only ever work with brands I love and think you will too. Thank you for supporting the brands that help bring fresh content to your inbox each day.

Festive touches in a beautiful Norwegian home

There are a few spaces that I love to go back to time and again. The Norwegian house of blogger Elisabeth Heier is one of them. Elisabeth has that rare talent which combines impeccable interior design and styling with the ability to take beautiful photos - the result of which is regularly featured on her blog. Over the past few weeks, Elisabeth's been adding subtle festive touches to her home - including a white advent calendar, pretty stars, a mini tree, and a wreath (in the bedroom - love that!). Let's take a peek....

So lovely?!  The light, the natural linen, the pine - everything!

Get the look: dining area - &traditional mass light (marble version), Eames DSR chairs, grey linen napkins, a cast iron teapot, daybed: Himla cushion, sheepskin throw, Christmas tree heart decoration by Stelton. bedroom - brass wreath from COOEE design, the bedding is from Hoi of Scandinavia, marble table light (I also love this one by Lee Broom).

Elisabeth shares her coffee table styling tips (and where the items are from on her coffee table here) - just saying!

Do you remember her home from Christmas 2014? The space looks equally beautiful in summer time (as you can imagine!) - you can find all the posts I've shared of her current and previous home here (not that I'm stalking her or anything....).

And since we're already in Norway - how about a few other favourites including this serene house looking out over the Oslo fjord,  a cosy Norwegian country house and the rustic cabin hide-away. Guh!

Since visiting this summer for my next book I'm officially in love with Norway (I can't wait for you to see the three Norwegian homes we photographed!) and so looking forward to going back as soon as possible (I discovered Oslo is only five hours drive from where I live - how amazing is that?!) - have you been?!

Have a great day!

A white Swedish home with warm, natural touches

I can't tell you how much I'm enjoying blogging (and instagram) this December - from cosy spaces and christmas trees to winter kayaking (cue - a new instagram favourite) and gift give-aways, it's all been so inspiring, I hope you've been enjoying it too?  Today we woke up to clear blue skies here in southern sweden - which I think calls for something fresh, don't you?! This lovely home in Gothenburg, Sweden fits the bill perfectly with its soft tones and natural textures. Think white walls wooden furniture, jute rugs and layers of texture...

Perfect!

With lots of guests coming to stay this December I'm thinking how great it would be to have a wooden clothes rail like this one - anyone know where it's from?

And I love the lighting in this apartment: you can't go wrong with the Aurora Vita feather pendant and the fab Z1 pendant (I've got this in my bedroom and it looks especially beautiful when the light is dimmed). This knitted lamp is similar to the one over the kitchen table.

Is there anything that stands out to you?

Have a great start to the week!
