A beautiful Swedish space with autumn tones

Oh have I got a treat for you today. This fabulous Swedish apartment incorporates all the latest trends (marble, aged wood, a Lampe Gras, linen (sofas and bedding!), Gubi beetle chairs, black framed windows and even a Vapeur light!) - and features lovely, cosy Autumn touches (the earthy tones on the wall, amber accents, the flowers)...and all so beautifully put together too. Can I move in with everything intact please?

A dreamy home-from-home in Australia

Third gloomy day in a row here and I have to admit I'm not feeling the 'hygge'. And no amount of candles, sheepskins and kanelbullar are going to help. Instead, I'm dreaming about a visit to The Estate Trentham, and it seems to be lifting my spirits no end! Located an hour from Melbourne and inspired by Scandinavian interiors (cue white washed walls and a pared-back look) The Estate Trentham is an original early twentieth century three bedroom federation house surrounded by beautiful gardens. And if that's not enough, it's also been artfully decorated with lovely muted autumn colours, soft natural textiles and a wonderful mix of old and new. In other words my ideal get-away and the perfect antidote to gloomy days! Excuse me while I search for flights....

Photography: Lisa Cohen (shared with kind permission). Book a stay at The Estate Trentham here.

See you there?!

I wanted to be able to use this little space to pick out a small detail but I have to say, the whole house is positively dreamy!

Is there anything that stands out to you in particular?

Get the look (if my home looked even a little like this I'd be thrilled): pick up an industrial pendant here, I like this jute rug. The sofa looks like a Gervasoni ghost (beautiful!). This online shop sells cushions in autumn colours.  Vintage scissor lamps. I like Kara Rosenlund's horse and nature inspired prints.

Loving the neutral colour scheme with touches of brown it reminds me a lot of Kara Rosenlund's home which I featured a few weeks back. Maybe I can do this Autumn thing after all!

More holiday rentals in my archive  here (you so knew that was coming right?!).

Have a lovely day!

Georg Jensen - You can never be too much you

As one of three sisters and mother to two (wonderful) girls championing women is something I'm passionate about. If you feel the same you'll feel so inspired by Georg Jensen's latest campaign.  Georg Jensen has been on the cutting edge of design for more than 112 years and renowned for artistic boldness, superior craftmanship and visionary collaborations with leading artists and designers. 'You can never be too much you' encourages women all over the world to empower themselves and never compromise on their personalities.  The campaign stars 5 influential and inspirational women who are 'demanding, strong, provocative, loud and ambitious': award winning film director Susanne Bier, WBA, WBC and WBO world champion welterweight boxer Cecilia Brækhus,  the world's best female chef Dominique Crenn, award-winning comedian Sarah Kendall and professional motocross rider Behnaz Shafiei. The campaign video is so unbelievably powerful, and the message applies to everyone, not just women.  I hope you feel as moved and inspired as I do!

'you will always be too much of something for someone: too big, too loud, too soft, too edgy. If you round out your edges, you lose your edge'

- Danielle LaPorte.

Beautiful individually handcrafted backpacks and bags

Earlier this year I introduced you to one of my wonderful sponsors Dorayaky - creators of natural waxed canvas bags that 'explore the connection between the natural world and the urban lifestyle'. Their bag have fast become my favourite - and every time I leave the house with my backpack someone comments on it (seriously!). I proudly tell them it's by a small Spanish brand and that every piece is handmade to order in their studio (this is one of team members in action!). It also has a nifty inside pocket and perfectly fits my macbook air! Yup! Lately, the Dorayaky team has been burning the midnight oil and introduced four exciting new models including the ALICE backpack, CATHERINE bag,  CHLOE bag and NURIA tote all available in a choice of brown, blue, grey or black. Here's a sneak peek...

In order of appearance: 1. and 2.  ALICE backpack, 3. CATHERINE bag, 4. CHLOE bag and 5. NURIA tote.

I'm loving the ALICE backpack (I've turned into a real backpack girl lately- so practical!)

Do you have a favourite?

It's also well worth checking out their instagram feed for inspiration - and to see the bags on the go!

Oh and one final thing - Dorayaky ships worldwide - perfect!

This post is sponsored by the wonderful team at Dorayaky. All words are my own and I only ever collaborate with partners that I love and which I think you'll love too. Thank you for supporting the brands which make My Scandinavian Home possible.

A Swedish home with inspiring ideas for tight spaces

Hello Friday - eeeeee! We've got that Autumn vibe going on here in Malmö and I'm thinking lie-ins, long walks, mushroom picking and blackberry pie this weekend, how about you?! But we've still got a few hours before then and I've got a lovely home tour for you! The main reason I chose this Swedish apartment (apart from the fact that it has lovely wood clad walls and exposed beams of course) is because we all have area in our homes that are pretty tight - a sloped ceiling here, a narrow hallway there. And this home shows it doesn't have to be redundant space. A bespoke narrow staircase in the hallway has meant easy access to the loft space / attic which they've converted it onto a wonderful master bedroom. And simple rods have been placed at different heights in an awkward corner of the bedroom to create open clothes storage. Such an inspiring use of space don't you think?

I'm already thinking about our loft space which is so crammed, we can't even open the door without things falling out. What on earth would Marie Kondo say?! Perhaps it's time to do something about it.
Do you have a storage space in your home like this?!

Get the look: dining room - the lovely Voliere (bird cage) light, I like these bentwood dining chairs bedroom - pick up curtain rods that adjust to any size at IKEA, the desk lamp is also IKEA. Source a beautiful vintage mirror here.

See a full tour of the home here (they've also managed to squeeze in a neat little reading nook in the kitchen!).

And a few links I love this weekend:

8 favourite netflix picks for cosy Saturday nights (thanks Si!).

I once showed Jessica De Ruiter's fabulous LA home here - and recently discovered more lovely pictures of it here. Her little girl is just adorable!

These armchairs, though.

Tour the inspiring studio of Stephanie Stamatis (I'd love to work here!).

5 kids rooms inspired by the sea...

....and being by the ocean.

Happy Friday!

Skål!
