Dramatic dark greys in a Swedish apartment (spot the legs!)

Do you ever have those days when you start late, and then never really catch up? Today is definitely one of those for me! I meant to get this home tour out in time for you guys in Europe to enjoy over a morning coffee break, but it's turned out to be lunchtime instead, sorry! Still, better late than never and this lovely apartment with dark grey walls is well worth the wait! It's crammed with fun designer pieces and I'm loving the legs - they really put a smile on my face (good old Fantastic Frank at it's finest!). I hope you enjoy the tour too...

Fantastic Frank

I have to admit, at the start of the year I was a little unsure about the 'dark' trend sweeping the interior world but it's growing on me more and more. It creates such as elegant feel, but it's also very homely, like a cosy cocoon!

What are your thoughts on the 'dark' interior trend? Would you consider it in your home?

Quick round up of items I know and love: Flos 265 light, Gubi mirror, Hay tray tables, leather strap hanger, white linen bedding, dark grey / heather knitted throw.

For a similar dark wall colour try Downpipe (thank you for this recommendation in the comment section below) perhaps you have your own recommendations too? If so, we'd all love to know - give us a shout in the comment section below!

Have a lovely day!

The calm and collected home of a Swedish interiors stylist

It's always a pleasure to stumble across the home of a prop and interior stylist.  And this Stockholm space belonging to the talented Joanna Lavén and her husband David is no exception! The couple set about restoring the flat back to it's former glory - even peeling back layers of flooring to reveal beautiful original parquet floors. I love the light in these photos by Marcus Lawett - he has really captured the elegance of the space, which has been decorated throughout in grey tones and teak mid-century finds. The brass gives the home a distinct touch of fifties glam too, what a fabulous home!

Home owner / stylist - Joanna Lavén. Photographer: Marcus Lawett, shared with kind permission. Via Dust jacket with thanks.
Is this your kind of style?

There is something very cool, calm and collected about the space. I couldn't ever imagine feeling flustered if I lived here.

Get the look - source beautiful teak mid-century furniture here or on auction sites such as e-bay and Live Auctioneers. All of these vintage drinks trolleys / bar carts are fab! This wall light is similar. Oven from Ilve. 2097 Chandelier by Flos. Painting over bed by Lennart Sand.

To see more of Joanna's lovely home and find out where other items are from check-out the full piece over at Elle Decoration. You can also find out more about her work as a prop & set stylist here.

And if you're after a few sneaky peeks of Scandinavian stylists' homes how about the stunning Danish home of Nathalie Schwer, the lovely home of Dorthe Kvist and Sofia Jansson's delightful family home.

If it was Christmas inspiration you were after today, you might want to sit back and enjoy this archive or my latest pins! Or if that fails - how about this recipe for spiced mulled wine? Ooooo, now you're talking!

Have a lovely day!

A romantic space in Malmö, Sweden

There's so much going on at this time of year that it can be nice to just take a step back from time to time and breath. That's how I feel when I look at today's home tour of a light-filled apartment here in Malmö, Sweden. The space was photographed by Bo-laget back in the summer, hence the beautiful light (it's a little darker now!). I love the relaxed, romantic feel of the space and the white, black and peach colours. Oh to be padding around here today.

Bo-laget

.....And relax.

Could you imagine living here?!

A few items I know and love: These chairs by Design House Stockholm are similar, Eames DAR chair (15% off with code MYSCAN at checkout), Kartell Fly light, leather pouffe, bumling floor lamp (check Lauritz), Andy Warhol print. Blossom wallpaper. Does anyone happen to know where the armchairs are from? If so it would be wonderful if you could leave a note in the comment section below.

If you like the wallpaper you might like to check out more lovely homes with bold wallpaper. And do you remember this fab Danish home with the trompe l'oeil? So fun!

Have a lovely, relaxed day!

Pretty Danish Christmas inspiration

Morning! I hope you had a great weekend? I'm on the early morning train, traveling through the countryside, the sun is sloooowly starting to rise but it's cold brrrrr. Where I really want to be is back in bed (or in this room with dark green walls - could this be the wall colour of 2016?). Failing that I'd love to be pottering around, putting the final touches on our Christmas tree (this is our home several Christmas's ago).  That's why I couldn't resist sharing a little more festive inspiration today, this time from Broste Copenhagen. The Danes really do know how to decorate for Christmas, don't they?

So pretty! I love the touches of eucalyptus and washed grey linen.

All of these items can be purchased through a Broste stockist. I also absolutely love this linen tableware.

More beautiful Danish homes at Christmas include this beautiful house in the snow and inside a rustic log cabin.

A few more Christmas links I love today:

This simple white star garland.

Christmas cards - the art of beautiful penmanship made easy. Oh yes we can!

Decorating with a personal touch using instagram / instax.

If you love the macrame wall hanging trend but would like something a little different from the white -  how about this one? Art in itself?!

10 of the best simple table decorations.

Fab Alternative Christmas trees

Pretty Scandinavian Christmas inspiration for the home.

Have a great start to the week!

PS This is not a sponsored post, I just love the images....
