A small space with a big personality

I spotted this Gothenburg apartment over at Stadshem this morning and I thought - ooooo. It's perhaps not everyone's cup of tea but there's something about the black leather sofa, plants and cool art and mid-century mix that I love (as you know I'm a big fan of Scandinavian mid-century in my own home). It's also sightly off beat - the rug is askew, they have used a reclaimed stool as a coffee table and simply piled books on the floor for a more relaxed feel. It's hard to believe that it's a one room flat too!

What do you like most about this space?

It's not an easy look to replicate since many of the items are one off finds. However, second hand black leather sofas are often coming up on Lauritz or LiveAuctioneers and you can search for portrait paintings on Etsy.

If you're in or near Malmö there are some great places to pick up mid-century pieces - once a month Nirvana opens it's doors, and they also have an online shop. If you get lucky you can also pick up cool pieces at Sopstationen (this is my ruse to get you to Malmö! I hope it's working?!).

I hope you have a fab Thursday!

A lovely light filled Swedish apartment

This Swedish apartment has everything I look for in a space - wonderful high ceilings, original wood flooring, big double doors and lots of natural light. It's also been beautifully decorated with a colour scheme of white, grey with a splash of yellow in the sitting room and blue in the bedroom - it's amazing what a cushion (like the Dot-Hallingdal and Large Geometry ones shown here) can do to a space too don't you think?! And a mix of old and new furniture.

Did I mention it's also for sale?! More pictures here.

Today I'm actually at my desk (as opposed to the stairs, my bed, the sofa or anywhere else I might sit and work). I was amazed (and excited) to see my office space appear in Grazia UK magazine the other day thanks to the book 'Design Bloggers At Home'. It made me realise I should probably sit here more often!!

Where do you sit and work?

I hope you have a lovely day!

A cottage in the Stockholm archipelagos

I don't know what the weather's like where you are but here it's starting to feel....er.....dare I say it....Autumnal. So today I thought I'd add a little sunshine here on the blog instead. And if I close my eyes this rainy, windy Tuesday morning I can dream I'm at on this beautiful waterside cottage. It's the fabulous home of one of Sköna Hem blogger Åsa Myrberg of @mycasa on Ekerö in the Stockholm archipelagos. If the beautiful, light filled and relaxed interior doesn't do it for you, the setting certainly will. Summer anyone?

What an incredible place to spend long summer days?! The Stockholm archipelagos really are fantastic too.

For more Scandinavian summer cottage dreaming click here - warning, you'll need to pour yourself a cup of tea first - there are hundreds of them! (the home above might come up first, if so, scroll past it).

I'm off to The Conference in Malmö today - anyone else going? Last year's was so inspiring!

Have a wonderful Tuesday.
