An apartment in Stockholm with a happy glow

It's Friday - woohooo! Up to anything great this weekend? I think I'll be doing a lot of lazing around with my family in the last of the summer sun and enjoying long breakfasts like the one seen in these inspiring images. It's amazing what a difference pops of yellow do to a space, the colour instantly adds warmth and happiness. I love the way it's used as an accent against the soft pastels and greys too.

Splashes of yellow with pretty pastels

There's no denying that Muuto is one of my favourite Nordic brands. They are always spot on with the latest trends, and I love the designs and colours. This selection of images were styled for Muuto by my neighbour's company All The Way To Paris (ATWTP) (you can see my neighbour Petra's beautiful former home here). I'd like a new house just so that I can buy the huge pink Muuto sofa (do you think my husband would agree to that?!).

For more pastel inspiration you could try my 'decorating with pastels label'....I love pale pink with yellow it's such a great way to update the home for spring don't you think?

For other homes with splashes of yellow (the colour de jour it seems) you might want to check out this and this home.

Would you dare go for a bold sofa?

Have a lovely day!

A very cool black and white Swedish home

This is your original white and black contemporary Scandinavian home tour. White (or light wood) floors and walls. black accessories, a yellow accent colour and a really fantastic black and white kitchen. What's not to love?!

Stadshem via Coco Lapine with thanks

A few items I know and love: Hay DLM side table in yellow, I love this black and white print and others here, Pia Wallén cross blanket. Panton chair dS in the kitchen, Black and white striped basket, and Ferm Living half moon basket. Fab fancy finger cushion / pillow by Lucky boy Sunday.

Could you live here?

In this home they've chosen a yellow accent colour and stuck to white walls. However, Swedish paint company Nordsjö announced their colour of the year 2015 yesterday. Which is (drum roll please...) Copper orange. What do you think? Can you see yourself using this hue in your home next year?

Before I dash off  I just want to say a a big warm welcome to all new readers. I hope you like the daily home tours and find some inspiration for your own home! We'd love to hear your thoughts in the comment section below!

Have a lovely day!

Spring has Sprung in This Delightful Copenhagen Home Full of Pastels!

Since living in Sweden, spring has become my favourite season of the year. I can't tell you what a wondrous site it is to see buds on the trees and the vibrant yellow of a trumpeting daffodil! They mark the end of a long, dark winter! Spring also brings with it, the first big event of the year: Påsk (Easter) - in all its pastel glory. If you're a big fan of the season too, you're going to love the Danish home of Melissa Xenia Sandra Gosvig. Nestled in the charming Copenhagen neighbourhood of Amager, Melissa's 80 m2 / 860 ft2 apartment is full of pastel tones - from pale blue, green and pink to bold pops of yellow and electric blue! Interior decorating has been a long-standing passion of Xenia's and her home is full of art, second-hand design pieces and flea market finds. Ready for the tour? Velkommen to Melissa's world!

Above: a Kubus candleholder and iconic Noguchi coffee table* sit atop a Beni Ourain rug*. The fab Planet Lamp is by Please Wait To Be Seated (you might remember it from the hallway in this feature).

This reading spot in the window with art by Nynne Rosenvinge (check out her shop for other colourful prints!) as well as a lovely bright sunshine yellow velvet cushion* is perfect for a moments pause!

I'd never seen one of these Harlequin mirrors until yesterday and then two come along at once (see yesterday's tour!). It's a sign that I need to pick one up for my own home, what do you think?!

There's a whole load of mix and match love going on here with different colour Hay chairs and vintage finds. Such a pretty dining space!

Melissa's kitchen is mini but mighty with striking black cabinet doors, dark wood floors (keep a look out for the darker wood trend this year - it's coming!) and white walls. I can imagine the balcony serves as a perfect spot for a 'kaffe og wienerbrød' (coffee and Danish pastry) in the warm spring sunshine too!

Another wonderful trend this year: mix and match coloured glassware. And these second-hand ones from Ann-Sofie Munk Hansen are so pretty! Keep an eye out for others on Ann-Sofie's page (there are some great ones up for grabs at the moment).

What do you think? Does Melissa's home make you want to start bringing a flurry of Easter pastels into your home? I might just get started this afternoon with some 'daffy-down-dillys' as my mother likes to call them!

If you'd like to see more of Melissa's home - there's a load of pictures on her instagram @mxeniaz

A Charming Swedish Home With Pops Of Golden

I've just arrived in London for my book launch as well as a very exciting collaboration with new Scandi homeware brand Eërtmug (if you're in town try to get down to the pop-up shop in Shoreditch on Saturday where you can pick up beauties like these - with all proceeds going to Centrepoint!). Miraculously it's going to be beautifully sunny all weekend (how's that for a warm reception?!) and it's the same in Sweden too. Even so - don't you find there's a distinct crispness in the air? Today, I'm taking inspiration from this lovely Swedish home which embraces the fiery colours of autumn. Think  tones of cinnamon, golden brown and mustard yellow mixed with olive green and a hint of yellow.

So cosy!

I love how the autumn sunshine pours in through the double balcony doors. I can just imagine drinking a coffee and reading all day in those warm pools of light!

Is there anything that captures your imagination?

Get the look: Dining - Series 7 chairs. Sitting room -  this bar cart is similar, pick up a mid-century mustard yellow chair here. Bedroom - blue linen duvet cover and pillow cases (I have the same in my bedroom and it's such a cosy colour for this time of the year!).

Other homes with autumn touches include a dreamy estate in Australia, a beautiful Swedish home with beautiful autumn touches, and a lovely small Swedish space.

And that's it from me this week! If you're curious about my London adventures follow along over on Instagram Stories!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend - and see you Monday!

Black, white with a touch of yellow Swedish home

Hello and happy Friday! I wanted to share this fascinating home with you. I like lots of things about this space. The pops of yellow that break up the black and white, all the different textures used on the walls. And the eclectic mix of furniture ranging from modern IKEA and industrial style to and mid-century. Very lovely.

I love the gallery of Therese Sennerholt prints in the third picture. My husband gave me the 'sweet dreams are made of you' Therese Sennerholt print for Christmas last year and it has prime place on my gallery wall. I love it! Latté time  :)

Creative work space inspiration from Studio Hear Hear

Hello, how are you today? This afternoon I've been invited for a fika at a local creative studio here in Malmö. I love going as not only are the girls super talented, the environment is really inspiring too. It always gets me wondering if I should exchange my home office for a beautiful studio somewhere. I have to admit this has been fueled lately by the recent discovery of Studio Hear Hear just outside Amsterdam, The Netherlands. The design studio belongs to Rena, a self-confessed plant enthusiast and founder of  Hear Hear, an online shop selling handmade ceramics, and a forever changing selection of bags, prints and other items selected for their simplicity and authenticity. The two floor space has been divided into a series of zones from which to run the day-to-day business, create ceramics, and other items and hold themed gatherings such as plant swaps and picnics.  What a wonderful place to work, don't you think?!

All photography y Rena / Hear Hear, except the 'overhead table shot' by Oak & Fir and 'table spread' by Food Bandits.

If I were to create a studio I'd like it to look like this! Industrial, slightly boho, an abundance of plants (did you spot the indoor climber?) - somewhere warm and sunny to relax, a great space for entertaining....

It reminds me a little of this fab Brooklyn home and studio of two creatives I featured a while back (also lovely!).

Could you imagine working here? Or what does your dream work space look like?

Get the look from Rena's studio: the yellow patterned rug is from IKEA, pick up a similar vintage industrial cabinet here. Choose from a selection of vintage yellow table lamps here or pick up a new one here. Pick up beautiful handmade ceramics at Hear Hear.

Looking for more workspace inspiration? Why not check out the atelier, studio and home office archives?!

Have a lovely day!

PS I'm holding a really exciting give-away later today so don't forget to stop by!
