A pared-back Australian beach house with a retro vibe

Spring is in the air...at least in the home tours this week (and outside here in southern sweden, yay!). This pared-back Australian beach house certainly adds to the vibe.  Located in the coastal town of Merrick, Victoria, it's decorated with pretty pops of colour, retro floral prints (my grandparents had curtains just like these in their sitting room, they had fab style), and freshly cut branches from a cherry tree. The owners have completed their holiday home with a mix of vintage, industrial and modern furniture as well as homespun textiles for a relaxed, bohemian feel. An Australian take on the Danish home we saw yesterday? Just lovely! I could wile away a summer here, how about you?!

Anything in particular you love about this holiday home (or everything perhaps?!)?

Items I know and love: Try Etsy for retro floral print curtains, Tivoli radio, Moka coffee maker. Wood wool stool sells crocheted items.

I dream of having an outdoor shower, there's something very cool about them and instantly conjure up days of long summer days at the beach. Here are some of my favourites.

The other thing I noticed are the shelves across the window - what a great idea?!

See more pictures and a full write up of the house here.

Other holiday homes in which I could wile away a boho summer include: this tranquil space in Corsica, a white and wood villa on Mykonos, a Norwegian cabin by the sea, and a Scandinavian style cottage in Oregon.

Roll on summer!

Have a lovely day!

A Charming and Relaxed Swedish Summer Cabin By The Sea

Do you have a 'happy summer' place? On a warm summer's day there's nowhere I'd rather be than by the sea in Sweden. One of Sweden's most popular holiday destinations is the laidback island of Gotland. Located in the Baltic, the sea might be a few degrees chillier than Sweden's West coast, but what the island lacks in water temperature, it more than makes up for in stunning scenery, creative vibes and a friendly summer community! This charming, laidback cabin perfectly captures the relaxed and pared-back nature of the island. Complete with sea views, a sauna, outdoor shower and many, many hammocks - it has everything you might need to kick back and enjoy everything the island has to offer. The only problem is, it might be hard to leave once the summer comes to an end. Oh and did I mention it's on the market?!

Black and white striped blanket with pom poms*

Could you imagine wiling away your summers here?

If only I could rustle up some spare cash - this cabin is my absolute dream! Maybe we can all go in together?!

It's actually not situated far from Fabriken Furillen (featured in 20 instagrammable places to stay in Sweden) - so even if you're not quite ready to splash out on a Swedish summer cabin yet (as tempting as it might be), you might still like to experience a slice of Gotland summer life!

Roll on summer!

My top ten most popular Pinterest pins ever

I have to say Pinterest is one of my favourite social medias - one huge site full of interior inspiration, recipes and travel ideas - what's not to love?! Such is my avid use (some sceptics would say addiction) I was recently named a Power pinfluencer. But even I didn't realise the extent of my pinning until I noticed that today I will have posted over 10,000 pins across my (56) Pinterest boards - that's a lot of pinning, even by my standards! I thought it would be fun to take a look back at my top ten most popular pins ever. I'm particularly loving the last one - it goes to show we're kindred spirits!

1. This green wall in a Swedish apartment caught everyone's eye!

2. We're all loving the idea of this Paris bolt hole.

3. I'm not sure if it's the puddy cat or the extremely cosy Finnish home, or most likely both?!

4. One Swedish apartment, two different ways.

5. It seems creating an urban jungle is high up on everyone's list, and we're taking inspiration from Marij Hessel's plant display.

6. Walk in wardrobe, organised corner or a fab hallway - either way, we all loved this arrangement in the home of a Norwegian blogger.

7. A firm favourite bedroom (and one of my top posts of all time too - who doesn't love Holly Marder's Dutch boudoir?!

  8. Dream tub?!

9. Or perhaps an outdoor shower is more your thing (if only the Danish cottage came with it!)?!

10. And finally....

 No words, just the recipe.

What do you think, can you see why these pins were so popular?!
 Have a lovely day!

PS Loved reading all your comments about yesterday's all white apartment - so interesting, thank you!

A Swedish City Apartment That's Pretty and Practical!

I discovered this little gem yesterday evening and was immediately drawn in by the tiles (keep an eye out for the ones in the kitchen and hallway too). The split-level apartment is on one of Gothenburg's most well-loved streets and dates back to the 1920s.

I particularly appreciate how the owners have ensured it's both practical and pretty! Think mid-century furniture, iconic Scandinavian design, oodles of storage and plenty of plants! Ready to take the tour?

I love climbing plants around windows - especially in the city or in winter time. It adds just the touch of greenery you need!

I'm also a big fan of curtains in the hallway, they are a great way to keep the draft at bay. And also, if you're not happy with the look of your front door but don't fancy the investment to change it, it's a great way to conceal it when you're tucked up indoors!

If you look closely, you'll spot lots of smart storage in the hallway, including a wall mounted chest of drawers and a narrow shoe cabinet (from IKEA), as well as open storage such as a low mounted Vitra hang-it-all for children items and a rail by the door for coats.

All-in-all, lots of lovely ideas! Is there anything that stood out to you?

I loved reading everyone's comments on the dreamy danish cottage yesterday - so interesting! It seems I need to work on my botanical knowledge - so grateful for all the plant and flower experts out there.
I'm still dreaming about the outdoor shower!

Happy Lillördag (little Saturday!) friends!

Dreamy Escape: The Cottage, Byron Bay

As far as holiday rentals go, The Cottage in Byron Bay, Australia is pretty much everything you could ask for! Not only is the location amazing (this coastal town is way up on my list of places to visit, is it on yours too?!), it's been decorated in true Byron Bay style - relaxed, open and friendly with a hint of tropical surfer chic. The cottage was re-designed to retain it's original timbers and features - but given a fresh, modern update with white washed walls and a load of natural materials and vintage furniture (we like!). Oh and did I mention the plunge pool and spa - as well as an outdoor bathtub and shower? I'm seeing a soak under the stars followed by an Aperol spritz on the terrace! Fancy joining me?!

The linen sofa is so pretty! Try the linen Bemz Urban Loose Fit covers (which are designed to fit many IKEA sofas).

This bedroom set-up is so simple yet so pretty. I love the formula: white wood cladding, botanical oil painting, white linen bedding*, light grey pillows* and a hanging plant (this macrame hanger with glass pot* is similar). Perfect!

Rattan hanging chair*

I love an outdoor bathtub (who wouldn't love a soak under the stars?!). In fact, my dream summer cottage has an entire outdoor bathroom and a hot tub like this! What do you think?

Oh. My. Word. I need to book flights. This place is so worth the long haul from Copenhagen. That sun longer has my name on it!

Could you imagine hanging out here for a week or two too?!

For bookings visit The Cottage at  Byron Beach Abodes. It sleeps 6 but just in case all your mates want to come (and who can blame them?) it can be rented together with The Chapel (how nice is that?!). I also love Magnolia House!

Meet you for sundowners Feb 2019?!

More beautiful holiday rentals here!

Have a *dreamy* weekend friends!
