Guest post: Soothing Gothenburg apartment

Hello everyone! I am Dagný Björg from the Feel Inspired blog where I share with my readers what keeps me inspired. I can't believe February is almost through - I feel like the time has literally flown away in this new year. I am starting to look forward to the warm Icelandic summer and have already noted down what I'd like to do and go this year. Have you started any summer planning yet? I also really like the soothing color scheme of gray, brown, little bit of mustard yellow and wood which makes this home really warm and welcoming.

Guest post: Denmark's most wonderful home

Hello everyone. I am Marianne from Nordic Bliss a Scandinavian girl living in the UK who loves Scandinavian style and is helping the Brits getting their hands on it as well through my little webshop.

What an honour to be guest bloging here on Niki's wonderful blog. I've been following it from the start and has always been inspired here. so when Niki asked me to do a guest post for her I told myself I had to find something wonderful. A few days ago I came across these photos on Femina's website and thought they would be perfect. This home has been awarded "Most wonderful home in Denmark" by DR (DR stands for Denmark's Radio, equivalent to NRK in Norway, SVT in Sweden and BBC in the UK etc.)





I loved the black exterior and patio with all the greenery. It is such an interesting contrast to the bright white interiors.

I love how they mixed up the traditional country charm open shelves and white wood panelling on the wall with some stainless steel and metal accessories in the kitchen.

This cosy corner in front of the window makes me long for a Easter holiday. When I was younger and lived in Denmark we would always spend Easter on the coast. Lazy days going for long walks on the beach and enjoying nature and a few rays of sunshine.

White and grey Stockholm apartment

I'm feeling a little worse for wear today with a temperature and everything :(  I was certainly cheered up by this Stockholm home though. Currently for sale through Fantastic Frank,  there are so many things to love about this small, yet charming grey and white apartment.

I love the personalised soap bottle. I think I'll have to make a label saying 'Niki's shampoo' as the rest of my family seem to think my expensive hair care is shower gel, bubble bath or simply something to wash their dolly with!!

Danish apartment: monochrome and wood

I'm never one to miss out on a beautiful black and white home. This apartment in Østerbro, Copenhagen, photographed by Gaelle Le Boulicaut is oh so fabulous in monochrome and cognac.

Of course it helps that the owners have kitted out the home with lots of  fab designer pieces such as the Vitra Plywood Group LCM dining chairs, Eames RAR rocking chair and the Occasional LTR coffee table (15% with MYSCAN code - perfect!). The Wood Table Lamp by Muuto is also pretty cool (and a possible contender for my bed side table).
What a lovely home?!

My home: little girls room

Hej hej! I hope you all had a lovely weekend. Here are a  few pictures of my little girls room.  When I was little I used to share a room with my big sister and remember whispering and giggling well after the lights had been turned off so I was really keen for my girls to share too. When I planned this room my goal was to make it as light as possible and then pepper it with splashes of primary colours and pretty patterns.

In case you're wondering, here's a little info about where things are from: their bed is the 'Snow' bunk bed from Mio. Almost everything else was picked up at one of my favourite local shops Udda Tina - the bed spreads, the long suffering stag (his right antler has been glued on more times than I can remember!), the white basket, purple dressing-up box and picture frames are all Rice. The pretty patterned boxes are House Doctor. The handsome giraffe is from a local Fair Trade Shop. I made the purple cushion using fabric from Panduro's Hobby and the rug is Designers Guild.

If you look closely you'll see I've cheated a little - these pictures haven't been taken on the same day so all the items have moved around a bit, it is a children's room after all! :)

The next step is the other side of the room - still a work in progress!

Lovely work by stylist Sania Pell

Sania Pell is one very talented stylist. I've been browsing her portfolio and blog for hours (as you do on a cold wintery day in Sweden). She's lovely too (I know as I sent her a mail about sharing a few images and she couldn't have responded quicker and been more helpful) we're also both London girls and it transpires that we both studied in Edinburgh too so I have taken an even bigger liking to her work now - ha! But seriously, don't you love these images Sania styled for Cox & Cox last Autumn?

Sania also has a couple of books out; The Homemade Home for Children and The Homemade Home. How cool. I have a dream to write an interior book one day. Do you have a dream like this? Perhaps we can write one together :)
These images set the tone nicely for my weekend. I've promised to bake cakes with my girls, although I'm feeling a little ill-equipped now that I see the cute footprint cookie cutter! Oh and I'm also missing a sweet and soft looking cat too. Hmmm.

A black + white Danish power house

This Danish home by Norm Architects is incredible. Emma showed another angle earlier today on her wonderful blog and my ears pricked up when I heard there were more pictures to be seen! So, thanks to the helpful Norm Architects team just over the bridge, here is the home from a different angle. We've become used to white Scandinavian spaces (especially if you read my blog on a daily basis ha!) but there's something even starker and more powerful about this home and the way that the contrasting black furniture and accessories almost float in the space. A true work of art.
