An apartment with a zest for display!

There's something about this Gothenburg apartment which really stands out. The high ceilings and original features from 1907 and the mid century touches certainly play a part in it's fabulousness. But what I notice most is the shelving and other display units and how they differs in style throughout every corner of the home! Whether it's String, IKEA or Vitra, the designers have really thought about what they want and need and the best way to display treasured items.

Stadshem

Which style of shelving do you like the most?

In my bedroom we have a really high sloped ceiling and couldn't find the right shelving to fit the space. So in the end my husband set about designing and building a custom made unit complete with hooks and suspension wires (you can see a glimpse of it here)! Just goes to show, there's always a solution!

Have a lovely day!

An oh so fabulous Greek escape

Autumn is really kicking in here in Southern Sweden but I refuse to let go of the summer just yet. Oh no. Firstly a beautiful book arrived in the post yesterday about how to bring the holiday into your home - more on that next wednesday when I'll be holding a very exciting interior book give-away!) and secondly today's oh so am-azing holiday home on the Cycladic island of Serifos in Greece. These images taken by Jerome Galland (check out his oh so fabulous portfolio here and instagram here) of Paola Navone's beautiful summer retreat are enough to keep Autumn firmly at bay!

If there's one thing that stands out for me it's the way Paola has painted rugs and patterns on the ground - and we don't need a home overlooking the Aegean sea to follow suit. Perfect inspiration! OK and there's that view too. Greece anyone?

More Greek escapes here and here.

Have a lovely day!

A Malmö home with a cool mid-century vibe

There's something kind of cool about this home in a hidden creative corner of Malmö, Sweden. I'm a big fan of mid century finds as you know, but mixed with geometric patterns and the odd splash of colour and greenery. Oh yes! Kind of inspiring for a Monday morning don't you think?!

Bo-laget

I've seen quite a lot of IKEA hacks with the Tärnö garden chair and table set. Here they've painted the chairs pillar box red. And I've also seen canary yellow and deep indigo versions- such a simple update but oh so effective!

Before I shoot off I also wanted to introduce you to my fab new sponsor See Design Shop selling clothes and accessories designed by Donna Gorman. Personally I LOVE the leather handle circle tote in either black basket or karma stripe black and I think I might have to get my girls the karma stripe mini tote for what remains of our summer days at the beach here in Sweden - too cute!

Have a great start to your week!

A striking Danish log cabin

Hello Friday! To celebrate the weekend I always try to find an all singing all dancing, awe-inspiring home. I spent several hours rifling through Pinterest and other sources for the perfect home today. And then I found it! It's hard not to instantly love this Danish cabin by the Haderslev Fjord with it's almost entirely exposed wood interior, high ceilings and contemporary furniture. The basic way it's been furnished allows the incredible vista to do the talking and yet there's also something incredibly cosy about it too. I could definitely spend my weekend here, how about you?!

Such a fantastic space, don't you think?!

I have a real penchant for Scandinavian holiday homes as you'll know from these archives: rural retreats, summer cottages and log cabins. Pure escapism for the weekend (just scroll past the home above as it will likely come up first).

I hope you have a fabulous couple of days and see you Monday!

The cosy and relaxed home of a Norwegian blogger

Well hello there! It was a long time since I showed a Norwegian home, too long I'd say. So I thought you might like today's home tour for two reason: firstly it will introduce you to a wonderful Norwegian blog: Marsipan og Smilefjes (unless of course you already follow it?) and secondly these images taken by the blog author Marthe of her own home which she shares with Rasmus, Mathea and Anna will make you feel like you're right there in a her relaxed cosy white and wood house in Norway. So lovely, don't you think?

What a beautiful home don't you think?! I love the touch of pastel (although I'm a 'hot' colour wannabe I'm a real pastel girl at heart, how about you?).

Other bloggers homes I love include the Norwegian home of Elisabeth heier, the serene home of a Swedish fashion blogger and the home of a Danish fashion blogger. If you're up for a little more inspiration today you can always have a fun snoop around the Norwegian home tours I've shown here previously (scroll passed this one as it will come up first).

I hope you have a lovely day!
