The charming home of a Swedish designer

Keeping it real on a Friday with this lovely, relaxed home and studio of Swedish designer Emma Von Brömsson, husband and three children. It's no wonder that someone who designs patterns for fabric, wallpaper, and products for the likes of House of Rym and Svenskt Tenn has a charmingly creative home full of vintage finds, unique pieces, pretty patterns and greenery. Perfect inspiration for the weekend, wouldn't you say?

What a lovely home! The combination of blue and white gives it a real Swedish touch - accentuated by the pair of traditional clogs and Swedish Hasbeens of course!

Is there anything that stands out to you?

I love the relaxed way in which it's be captured for Lovely Life too, you can see more of Emma's pretty home here (see other home tours in a similar style here and here). Is this your kind of look?

For more weekend inspiration, there's oodles of images in my archives: Danish homesNorwegian homes, Finnish homes, Swedish homes and International homes. Warning - there are litereally hundreds of homes so get comfy and pour yourself a big old cup of tea first!

I hope you have a wonderful couple of days, see you Monday!

PS I spy the safari daybed....oh how I'd love one of those!

A Swedish artist's home in a former school house

When you go on holiday do you sometimes have a fleeting moment where you wonder if you should move there permanently?! Whether it's the Gothenburg archipelago in Sweden, Cornwall on the SouthWest coast of England or even the French Alps, I start imagining what life would be like year-round.  Sadly I've yet to follow this dream. However, Swedish glass artist Gunnel Sahlin has done exactly that.  Gunnel and her husband were looking for a summer cottage back in the 1990's and were so mesmerised by the former school house with it's beautiful light-filled rooms and incredible vistas that it eventually became their year-round home and Gunnar's atelier. One look around the house with it's high ceilings, original features and relaxed feel and I understand why, how about you?

What a lovely, realxed home?!

I love all the vintage and antique finds, muted blues and greys and the art on the bedroom wall.

I'm also in love with that bathroom - where we're staying right now doesn't have one and I'm missing my long baths - they're my sanctuary! More dreamy bathroom inspiration here, here and here.

Is there anything you love about this home?

More beautiful Swedish country homes include the magnificent Dalarna home of Ylva Skarp, the boho home and studio of a Swedish artist and the striking monochrome home of a photographer. Time to move to the country?!

 Have a lovely day!

A calm green, grey and white Swedish space

Well hello there! I hope you had a great weekend? It seems Sweden's starting to wake up from the summer holidays....Stadshem has started selling again. Yay! This home in Gothenburg, Sweden is full of calm green and grey tones mixed in with natural materials in the form of rattan (got my eye on that Tine K chair) and plants. Perfect inspiration for a Monday, don't you think?!

What a calm home? I think it's the green tones (according to research people naturally associate green with lush pastures, trees and forests, evoking the feeling of peace and tranquility).  Do you have any green in your home? I recently started to introduce it as an accent colour in my own home (loving my green vintage scissor lamp found on Etsy), I think it works so well in a monochrome backdrop.

Items I know and love from this Swedish space: various prints found at The Poster Club. Chairs: Rattan, Menu, Thonet 214Tulip table, Z1 pendant light in bedroom. Lohals rug.

Quick fix of the day: love how they've brought in a simple bunch of cow parsely from outside for the table decoration.

Is there anything you love in particular about this home?

More calm homes with just the right amount of green include this english style house in Sweden, and pops of green in a Skåne family home.

Have a lovely, calm start to the week.

A happy Swedish home with black floors and bright colours

As I finally complete my off white floor  - this Swedish home comes along and throws everything up in the air! GRRR! Will you take a look at those glossy black floors?! What a striking backdrop the black and white makes for all those bright splashes of colour and lush plants?  Owners Hannah and Don Billberg are an impressive duo. Using a shoe string budget they set about building the home and then furnishing it with flea market finds and items bought second hand online -  and a bucket load of imagination. The result is a truly inspiring, vibrant family home. What a perfect tour for the weekend, let's take a tour....

Wow, I love this home. It's so refreshing! I love the creativity with which it's been put together. How about you?

I first visited Sweden when I was around seven years old to visit Ullis and her family (who are still great friends today). Her mother Yvonne, has a loom and she'd make these wonderful rag rugs. I've been a huge fan of them ever since - they're just so simple and such a great way of brightening up a space. I love how the colourful rag rugs in Hannah's home pop against the black floor too. Try Etsy for similar.

Other simple ideas to steal from this lovely home:
- Create moodboards using colourful pictures to brighten up a hallway, or delicious looking recipes cut out from magazines in the kitchen.
- Add a touch of comfort to bent wood chairs with fluffy, bright colour seat cushions.
- Adding a splash of paint to a simple box makes a fab wall-mounted bed side table.

Is there anything that stands out to you?

You can see more of Hannah's charming home on Instagram

For more inspiration this weekend I'm loving this cheerful Swedish home with bright splashes of colour and another home with black floors but in a whole different style. Or perhaps you're inspired by green floors or even red floors?!

Have a wonderful weekend and see you Monday!

A lovely, calm white and grey Swedish island home

There's a howling gale outside and the rain is lashing against the windows of our summer cottage. It's actually very cosy (slippers at the ready!) - as long as the sun promises to come out tomorrow. Even so, my day has been totally brightened up by this home on the island of Dalarö in the Stockholm archipelago. Beautifully captured by the talented guys at Lovely Life, the home belongs to stylist  Mari Strengheilm,  Christian, a digital strategist and their children Dante (6) and Juno (3).  Looking out over the Baltic sea, the home is decorated in pretty shades of grey and white (love the half/half wall and chequered hall floor) with a slight African touch.  Let's take a tour...

Homeowner: Mari Strengheilm Photography: Amelia Widell.

Oj oj oj (as they say in Sweden) - what a wonderful home, don't you think?!

I'm intrigued by the bed nook in the children's bedroom - it looks incredibly cosy! It reminds me of the one in this pretty Swedish cottage - which has been used to create a private place to sleep on the landing. I also love this modern version of the bed nook. In fact I'm all for nooks in general, so much so that I've dedicated an entire Pinterest board to them! I'm sure if we look hard enough in our own homes we'd find a place to create one.

Is there anything you love in particular about this home?

There are images galore of this lovely space and a full write up /interview with Mari  (in Swedish) here

Have a lovely day!
