Two Idyllic Cottages To Rent In Denmark This Summer

It's going to reach a high of 12 degrees Celsius (53 degrees Fahrenheit) here in southern Sweden tomorrow and we're seriously excited (we've been waiting 6 months for this, I kid you not!). If you walk through Malmö tomorrow, you'll see people outside cafes in droves, with faces tilted towards the sun. With warmer weather finally on its way, my thoughts are drifting to the summer holidays and carefree days by the sea. If you haven't been to this part of the world in summertime, it's an absolute must. In case you're wondering where to stay, I stumbled across these two idyllic coastal cabins on Airbnb last week while planning my day by the Danish coast. Both are located in beautiful holiday destinations on the Danish coast and are a relatively short hop from Copenhagen!

1. Liseleje
Danes flock to Liseleje on the Danish riviera in the summer time to enjoy the authentic fishing village, al fresco dining on the quay and the long, golden stretch of sand. This charming white washed cottage sleeps 6 and is a mere 600 metres from the beach - and the interior is as pretty as can be!

2. Rørvig

About a one hour and a quarter drive from the Danish capital, this rustic log cabin is surrounded by woodland and situated near Rørvig harbour which is lined with quayside restaurants, cafes and shops. The area is also great for hikes. I'm loving the rustic vibe! Oh and it sleeps 6.  

Could you imagine spending your summer holidays at one of these lovely cottages?

I certainly could!

A Charming and Relaxed Swedish Summer Cabin By The Sea

Do you have a 'happy summer' place? On a warm summer's day there's nowhere I'd rather be than by the sea in Sweden. One of Sweden's most popular holiday destinations is the laidback island of Gotland. Located in the Baltic, the sea might be a few degrees chillier than Sweden's West coast, but what the island lacks in water temperature, it more than makes up for in stunning scenery, creative vibes and a friendly summer community! This charming, laidback cabin perfectly captures the relaxed and pared-back nature of the island. Complete with sea views, a sauna, outdoor shower and many, many hammocks - it has everything you might need to kick back and enjoy everything the island has to offer. The only problem is, it might be hard to leave once the summer comes to an end. Oh and did I mention it's on the market?!

If only I could rustle up some spare cash - this cabin is my absolute dream! Maybe we can all go in together?! 

It's actually not situated far from Fabriken Furillen (featured in 20 instagrammable places to stay in Sweden) - so even if you're not quite ready to splash out on a Swedish summer cabin yet (as tempting as it might be), you might still like to experience a slice of Gotland summer life!

Dreamy Holiday Let: A Cosy Waterside Eco Cabin In Australia

I try to stay positive, really I do - but the weather in Malmö right now is so dreadful. It's been somewhere between rain and snow for the best part of a fortnight! BAH! So today, I'm dreaming of warmer climes and charming waterside getaways like The Little Black Shack. Located in Great Mackerel Beach, an hour from Sydney, owners Jamie and Ingrid Kwong first discovered the fisherman's shack over 20 years ago during their many boating trips on Pittwater. In 2013 they noticed it had been put up for sale. Despite the poor condition, they were hooked (and who can blame them?!). With the help of an environmentally conscious builder, the pair spent 18 months recycling, repurposing, reusing and rebuilding the shack- transporting materials by boat and carrying them up to the site by hand. Today the shack has been fully restored into a cosy and charming waterside cabin. And the best news? It's available for short term stays / holiday lets! I've got my eye on that spot by the window - how about you?

Other dreamy off-the-beaten-track waterside stays in Australia I've got my eye on include Captain's Rest and this cabin on Satellite Island (both in Tasmania). When I finally make my way down under, I feel like I'm in for a treat!

Could You Imagine Relaxing At This Hill Top Guest House?!

God morgon, god morgon! I hope you had a fabulous weekend?! We've been in London celebrating my nieces' 1st and 3rd birthday - you forget just how much they love birthdays at this age - it's so sweet! We're heading home today, but I might just ask the pilot to divert to Hunt, Texas. Situated two and a half hours west of Austin, Hunt Sunday House has been newly renovated by photographer and artist Kate Zimmerman Turpin and her husband Luke. The cabin rests on a brow of a hill surrounded by golden grass, oaks and cedars, which is popular feeding ground for deer and hummingbirds. The couple were keen for the property to blend with the surroundings, opting for a simple design in soft, natural tones.  The A-frame ceilings, open plan living space and minimalist kitchen have helped contribute to a handful of design awards (including Remodelista's 'best amateur kitchen') but best of all, the guest house has been artfully transformed into somewhere friends and family can relax, and recharge in the grounds of Kate's family's holiday house. Ready to dream a little?!

The renovation budget was fairly tight so the pair opted for open shelving (a clever idea in a guest house, since it helps guests easily find things) and white concrete countertops. A lot of the furniture was taken from Kate's parent's house in Houston, or found at flea markets. 

Kate and Luke wanted the house to blend with the surroundings. The earthy, natural tones and minimal yet warm furniture was one of the ways in which they drew nature indoors. 

Someone's loving that sofa!

The shower head (from Signature Hardware) adds contrast to the simple, yet richly textured shower. 

Kate loves a clutter-free living space in which she can breath. Hunt Sunday House is bathed in  natural light and peppered with items she finds on her walks and small treasures picked up on travels. 

What a breath-taking guest house! I'd certainly feel at home here, how about you? How do I tell my husband I've swapped Malmö for Hunt today?
