A Boho, Warm and inviting Home in Södermalm, Stockholm

Who lives here do you think? Looking at the pictures of this charming apartment in the boho district of Södermalm, Stockholm, I can't help think it belongs to a creative of some sort - potentially working in the field of music. Right or wrong, the lovely living space might be on the small size (it's 40 metre square / 430 feet square) - but the clever lay out makes it a perfect home for a single person, couple or small family. And it oozes charm!  Keep a look out for the eclectic blend of furniture, walls painted in a rich patina, and the way they've worked with the original kitchen to create a cosy, warm and inviting space. I could totally imagine rocking around here after work, how about you? Just add music! 

A perfect example of how an old kitchen can be revamped without ripping out all the units and starting all over again (which can be eye-wateringly expensive). 

Exposed beams add to the charm of the space. 

A mezzanine floor over the living room provides space for a separate master bedroom (the high ceilings have certainly help facilitate this!). 

How lovely! I find this relaxed, bohemian style so inspiring, do you? 

A quick translation / Swedish lesson from the floor plan: 

Kök (pronounciation): kitchen

Hall (pronounciation): hall

Badrummet (pronunciation): bathroom

Vardagsrum (pronounciation): living room

Sovloft (pronounciation): sleeping loft

Balkong (prounciation): balcony

I've found Swedish to be a very sensitive language. Speaking from experience, if you get the pronunciation ever so slightly wrong a Swede will likely not understand what you're saying (it could also be that my pronounciation is horrible!). All-in-all, it makes it a little tricky to learn. 

Do you speak a second language? Or perhaps a third, fourth or fifth like my linguistically skilled older sister? I'd love to hear about your experiences!

Step Inside Verena's Relaxed, Warm and Inviting Home

When I look for homes / interiors to feature I try to find ones that inspire with a certain lifestyle (a Swedish cottage by the sea, a magical mountain cabin or rustic country retreat for example). I also strive to find homes with a wonderful unique touch and bags of personality that are full of ideas. Today, it's the latter in focus (I'm sure there's a wonderful lifestyle here too!). I discovered Verena's German home on instagram a few weeks ago (if you have the time check out her inspiring feed hop over to @vren1984) and immediately fell in love with the warm, relaxed feel. Verona's eclectic home is the kind of place you can instantly feel at home. So, pull up a chair and enjoy the tour - I hope you'll walk away with lots of new ideas for your own home! 

Love the mix and match vintage dining set - it works because everything is made from wood. The sheepskins help to add a cosy touch. 

A real life scene - how refreshing! 

We drink the same Oatly Barista with our coffee - have you tried it? Word of warning, once you start, you can't actually go back to milk. It originates from right here in southern Sweden! 

An indoor swing - wonderful! We have one from Finnish brand Lillagunga in Ali's room and it's always been a big hit. 

I love a packed bookshelf, do you? The other day on instagram I asked how people chose to organise their books. Many said by theme and then author, others said by colour or language. But best of all - one person said that their husband loves to spend hours organising books - organising them according to theme, and then if he thinks the authors would get along and have a good chat he'll place them next to each another. How brilliant is that? You can see the post and read all the responses here. 

Great to see a rug / blanket used as art. Instant cosiness and colour!

Tina's Relaxed, Boho Home Full of Plants & Cats!

Why, hello there! I hope you had a great weekend! Love plants and cats? Or simply a relaxed look? If so, Tina's lovely home is for you!  I think the above picture sums up the look and feel of her Berlin prrrrrfectly. But do continue with the tour - there are lots of fun ideas to feel inspired by. Here's Tina to tell us all more about it! 

"I have lived in this wonderful apartment in the Köpenick district of Berlin since March.  It's one of my favourite parts of Berlin as it's where the water meets the forest. My apartment is 56 sqm and I live here with my two cats Eddie and Valenzia". 

"I became interested in interior design when I was eleven years old. My mother was always telling me to clean up my room and I found it so boring. Instead, I rearranged and decorated it! My passion grew over the years and I started to share my living space on Instagram (@tinalebat). Besides interior design, I also love to write. I write about interior design, minimalist details and also about my fears and experiences and share them with my community."

"I love the charm that old apartments exude. The walls carry a history and I, happy to be a part of it. I think it was built in around 1910." 

"It's really important to me that my home feels cosy and not too 'forced'. Plants give me strength and the care they require grounds me. I love to sit with my cats on the sofa and think about life while Lorde plays on my record player. For me, decoration is much more than just products, it reflects us and excites me when I see other people's homes."

A Warm and Relaxed Artists Home Full of Vintage Finds

I'm in the mood for some arty / creative inspiration today, how about you? Scrolling through my instagram feed I happened upon Edna's charming home in Rheinland, Germany and it fits the bill perfectly! Edna has always wanted to live in an old house - and was delighted when she moved into the Art Nouveau property - with its high ceilings and wonderful light - dating back to 1911. Edna and her husband are both artists and live in the two lower floors of the property with their children and adopted cats. Their studio occupies the top floor. Edna loves to immerse herself in history and likes to keep the look and feel of her home "bright, natural and unconventional". The furniture is a blend of antiques (matching the date of the house), vintage finds as well as a few handpicked contemporary pieces. The result is a wonderful, relaxed, lived-in feel where no two pieces are the same. Ready to feel inspired? 

Oh, so beautiful! 

I love how distinct and personal this home is, it's truly original.

A Calm and Relaxed Berlin Oasis, Inspired by The Med!

Men tjena! Hur är läget? I hope you had a wonderful weekend! I'm going to launch right into today's home tour since I'm so excited about it! If you're into fashion and travel, you might just recognise the lovely lady in the picture above. Jacqueline Mikuta has amassed a global audience of nearly 900,000 on instagram thanks to her inspiring outfits and dreamy travel pictures. Over the past twelve months Berlin-based Jaqueline and her boyfriend, photographer Klemens White have been making the most of their time at home to revamp their new apartment. The pair decided to do most of the work themselves - from plastering and painting, to building shelves and tables - as well working with a local welder to create the most incredible bespoke glass wall. Their home is now complete, and it's AM-A-ZING! I particularly love the earthy tones, texture and subtle beach vibe which was inspired by the calmness of the Balearic Islands - a nod to their mutual love of Mallorca and its surroundings. Let's take a peek! 

In the kitchen, a concrete worktop from Carament rests atop cabinets which the pair made from scratch, find out more details here). 

Large plants like this Fiddle leaf Fig help to draw the eye upwards and emphasise the height of the room - as well as helps to create a green oasis in the heart of the city. The sofa is a vintage find. 

Jacqueline and Klemens have painted the walls and wardrobe doors with Palladio from Kalklitir - a powder paint from Iceland.

The incredible bed throw is from Colour Locale. Source a similar little wood stool here*. 

The bathroom has been fitted with a round sink from Vallone, lights from Wever & Ducré and the wall has been decorated with a finish from Carament. You can read more about the bathroom and see the before pictures here. 

Wood cladding was added to the balcony walls which has then been decorated with a seagrass hanging bringing a beach vibe sanctuary to the heart of Berlin! The balcony railing has been adapted to create a special place for plants and a glass or two - so clever, don't you think? 

What an incredible home! 

I love that the pair have done a lot of the renovation work themselves - including building shelves etc - it makes the space feel extra personal!
