A White Swedish Home With An Intriguing Hanging Plant!

It's Friday - tjho-hooo! I was hoping too slope off early, after all, it's POETS day - but then I remembered I've got to write an entire article for a magazine by 4pm - eeeeeeek! How did I forget about that?!  More details to follow (if I get round to finishing the piece, that is!). No matter how busy (or disorganised) you know I'd never leave you without a beautiful home tour to enjoy over the weekend though. So I'm nipping in to share this beauty with you. The 89 metre square (957 feet square) apartment is located in the heart of LinnĂ©staden, Gothenburg and it's waiting for one very lucky person to move in! Think period features, white washed walls, she fabulous furniture and one very intriguing hanging plant!

Menu Carrie lamp*, Source beautiful custom made rustic tables and benches like this here*

Grey linen bedding*, I'm having a total mental block on the lovely table lamp - help!

What do you think, could you imagine living here?!

I'm fascinated by the plant arrangement over the bed, I think I might have to explore this more over the weekend - how does it work do you think?! Is it actually a living plant, or cuttings? If real, how would you water it? Questions, questions! It does look pretty fab!

I must say, it feels great to end the week with a Swedish home - especially after I was lamenting only yesterday about heading off somewhere warmer (admittedly I am still dreaming about the waterside cabin in Australia!). Sweden, this is proof that I do love you really - rain or shine!

I hope you found this week on My Scandinavian Home as inspiring as I did.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend!

A Simple, Relaxed, Happy Family Home With Scandinavian Touches

Oj oj oj! Today's home tour is a real goodie! It's full of soul, interesting details and lovely, rich accent colours like 'muddy puddle' (great name for paint in a children's room, don't you think?!), 'rum caramel' and 'soft maplewood'. Although it's located in West Wales, UK, it has a distinct Scandinavian look and feel thanks to the white washed backdrop and delightful Nordic pieces, which of course, makes my heart sing with joy this grey, rainy Tuesday in Malmö! The simple and relaxed space belongs to Cassie Chung, who has amassed quite a following on instagram thanks to daily updates of her interior and fab wardrobe style! Cassie takes inspiration from books, magazines, Pinterest, travel and blogs to evolve her style and create a wonderful family home which she shares with her husband and three children - Lyssia, Emmy & Mio as well a cat and dog (quite the full house!). Enjoy!

Eye Eye print*, This pendant light* is similar, as is this Kawa chair!

Paint: Dulux, Rum Caramel*

Lisabo desk and Odger chair - both by Ikea

Lucky Boy Sunday Nulle pillowcase, Brown linen bedding*, Ferm Living basket*, IKEA junior bed, print by Pax and Hart
Paint: Dulux muddy puddle

What a truly lovely home! I love how Cassie has filled it with pieces which she has hunted far and wide making the space truly unique.

It also feels full of soul, and truly lived in.

I was really happy to discover a few of those Dulux colours too - I'm totally into brown tones after decorating my bedroom and office.

Is there anything that stands out to you?

For now you can keep up to date with Cassie's interior updates on instagram @casschung - but soon she'll also be launching an online shop too - watch this space!

Other homes I love today: umber and chestnut accents in a lovely Swedish home, a relaxed boho family home on the edge of a desert and a cosy, boho Swedish family home.

Happy Tuesday friends! We're just preparing for the arrival of two very VIP guests today - my Mother and Father from London - and it's my Father's birthday too! Can't wait!

Have a lovely day!

Snapshots From a Serene, Light Family Home in Normandy

There's so much to love about Cecile Fossey's calm oasis just outside Le Havre in Normandy, France (yes, the French streak continues - if I carry on like this I'll need to change the name to 'My French Home'! - does that have a nice ring to it?!). It's a house which would make Marie Kondo proud (have you seen her Netflix series?). Items are whittled down to a minimum and carefully selected to fit with the calm nature of the space - which is a perfect blend of white and light wood. Rattan, seagrass, wicker and other natural materials add to the warmth, while soft blue accents offer a homely feel. It's time to sit back and lower your pulse. Enjoy the tour!

In a relatively small space, building a half-wall helps to provide space for extra kitchen units and much needed workspace. The simple wooden beams make a nice change from glass window dividers and add warmth.

IKEA kitchen cabinets, brass light from Leroy Merlin (this Frama light is similar)

Just look art that fireplace! Isn't it incredible?!

Smaller items of furniture like this cute junior rattan chair cater for the younger members of the family Capucine and Gustave.

Tiles from Mosaic del Sur (look out for the tile edit this weekend!)

Light pink linen bedding*, mobile (pretty shop alert!)

As mentioned in yesterday's home tour, cane furniture is set to be big this year.  I see there's currently a vintage chest-of-drawers* like this one on Etsy right now - but you'd need to be quick!

Raphael wallpaper / Sandberg (also seen in this 2019 colour trend round-up), rocking lamb

Natural seagrass belly basket*, Cam Cam organic swan rattle

Such a lovely space - I wish I could whittle my home down to slightly less items too.

Having said that, fear not friends. These are mere snapshots of sections of Cecile's home and it's highly likely there are plenty of items just around the corner.

See Cecilie's instagram @Octobre_et_mai and shop away at her pretty Sunday Shop (I've got my eye on the wall hanging!).

For more serene white and light wood spaces I'm loving a dutch home infused with warmth and harmony, the beautiful white farmhouse of an interior designer and a wonderful white and wood holiday home.

Tomorrow I have a whole day workshop at an atelier just outside Gothenburg where we're kicking off a VERY exciting project. I CAN'T WAIT to reveal more (hopefully next week!!). It's something I've been thinking about launching for a while and feel really passionate about - I hope you'll be just as excited as I am! The only problem is, I've run out of time to create a Friday post- guh! But I'll try to stop by on Saturday instead.

Importantly though FRIDAY NIGHT is only 24 hours away - we got this! Do you have any plans?!

Whatever you do, I hope it sparkles!

See ya'll Saturday!

A Stunning White Farmhouse in The Snow

It snowed here this morning. Nothing major, just a light sprinkling, but it was enough to make me feel all warm inside! Do you love the first flurry of snow too? I felt nothing captures the cosy mood today like this beautifully simple farmhouse in the Indiana countryside. Photographer and stylist Angie Wendricks has struck the perfect balance between minimalism and warmth thanks to the white washed floors and walls and rustic furniture. Look out for soft, natural textiles, simple bouquets of flowers and the odd candle too!

The beauty of having furniture on wheels like this table, is that you can easily move it around depending on where you need it - you can even roll it outside (not that you'd want to in the snow of course!).

I have a similar stool beside my bed which I sourced here* (I see they currently have a beautiful side table too - but there's only one left*, so you'd need to be quick!). The kitchen cabinets are from IKEA.

Kitchen Aid range

These images of Angie's homes are from a selection taken over the past year - which is why the Smeg is in a different position! I still wanted to include the image all the same, as I think it helps to understand the shape of the room - and get a better look at that stunning table!

Angie's Ikea sofa has been covered with a Bemz linen cover (a girl after my own heart - I'm loving my linen sofa cover!). My bench / coffee table is almost identical too - pick up a similar one here.

This is such a pretty idea: white candles in vintage baking moulds!

The black wood burning stove looks really striking in the all white space and helps to show off the immense ceiling height - imagine how it looks all aglow with the snow outside?!

Woooow, this home is just beautiful, don't you think?

If this hasn't got us all in the mood for winter (and a white Christmas!), I don't know what will!

Could you imagine rocking around here this December?!

See more gorgeous pictures of Angie's home at @countyroadliving and www.angiewendricks.com.

Other countryside cabins I love (I'm on a roll now - there's no stopping me!) - include this little Danish cabin in the woods, an idyllic lakeside cabin in Canada and Leanne Ford's dreamy white cabin.

Speaking of cold weather, I'm currently packing for my trip to Moscow tomorrow (I'm talking at an event about Pure Scandinavian Design there on Friday) - I've never been to Russia before so I'm super excited. Just got to work out what to pack to keep the minus temperatures at bay! Tips welcome!

Have a cosy day - keep warm!
