Soft Greens and Floral Dreams: A Gothenburg Apartment Tour

It's Friday, the sun is shining, and spring is in the air here in Sweden! Throughout the city, small signs of spring are popping up everywhere—from delicate first buds appearing on rose bushes clinging to the sides of houses to vibrant crocuses brightening the roadsides. Even so, when you live in an apartment high above the city, nature and the changing seasons can sometimes feel distant. That's why I was so captivated by this lovely Gothenburg home.

Laid out over two floors—with a brand-new loft conversion—the apartment has been thoughtfully decorated in soft shades of green, creating a wonderful sense of harmony throughout the living space. Even more charming, subtle botanical-themed wallpaper adorns the walls, while floral textiles decorate the bedroom beneath an oil painting of blooms arranged in a vase. And throughout the home, you'll find pretty yet simple displays of fresh spring flowers.

A gentle reminder for us all to pick up our Friday flowers!

Another aspect of this Swedish apartment that caught my attention was the blend of materials—warm wood and exposed brickwork create visual interest and contribute beautifully to the mix of old and new elements throughout the space.

Ready for a look around? Let's go!

It's definitely the raw materials that caught my eye—such a clever way of highlighting architectural details that you might not have noticed otherwise.

Despite the more minimalistic feel of the decor (the flat is currently for sale via Entrance), glimpses of personal touches shine through, such as this floral retro stool beside the bed and the pink Panton chair!

I realise that without ALL the images, the gymnastic rings and ropes might seem strange, but if you click here for the complete tour, you'll also see a nice children's room, which explains their presence!

Is there anything that stood out to you in particular about this Gothenburg loft? If so, I'd love to hear your thoughts below as always!

Did you see the tours earlier this week? If not, don't miss Anna's coastal home on a Swedish island (I loved reading all your comments!) and a rustic surfer's cabin that's currently for sale in Tasmania, complete with its own Headland!

Have a fantastic weekend all!

  1. The Apartment is absolutely beautiful….I love the light over the dining table

  2. I have to admit that the soft green will never be among the colours I am drawn to (no matter how popular it is) but I love the room with the access to the deck and the bathroom.
I wonder if the current owners actually do use the gym rings for exercise?

    1. I have a feeling the gym rings are for the children, my daughter used to have the exact same rings when she was little. You never know though, the adults might use them too!

  3. There’s a soft earthiness that is refreshing and, as you said, evokes spring. I also like the raw architectural details and always find it interesting when those details are mixed with modern touches. It adds a bit of excitement to the environment. That balcony and its view must be heavenly

    1. This is such a lovely home, it's modern, yet they preserved all the beautiful architectural details, awesome! Lots of texture without clutter.

    2. I also really love a blend of old architecture with modern details - it's a great way to bring the history of a building to the forefront and yet create a home that feels modern and fresh.

  4. I thought the inclusion of the gymnastics equipment was fantastic. What fun to be a kid in this home! I chuckled when I read Alena's comment--I had just been thinking that I would never tire of that shade of green (although I don't use it in my own home) and how it was a perfect fusion of cool and warm ..... and then I read what she said. Isn't it great that we all have a unique idea of what we like?

    1. Yes, I love that everyone has different ideas on colours and styles - it makes every home unique. Just the way it should be :)

  5. I think I would feel like a bird up in the rooftops! Can I say that I like the "cleaning corner"? I know another designer who thinks we should buy nice quality brushes, dusters etc. and hang them on the wall.

    1. Thank you so much for pointing this element out. At our summer cottage I make sure we have lovely cleaning items and beautiful cleaning fluids too and it makes a dull job feel so much more enjoyment - and they look better in our little cottage too!

  6. Could you tell me the lovely green color in the kitchen??

    1. Sorry, I am not entirely sure of the exact shade they've used - plus a colour in this space could look completely different in another depending on the direction of the light etc. I hope you can find something similar that works for your space.

  7. The soft green is lovely. It seems to read more blue in the bedroom, or is that just me? I am also drawn to all the raw wood, especially the door with remnants of white paint. What I love most in this home are the sweet old windows, an oval one in the stairwell and the eyebow window in a sitting room. Thank you for sharing and happy spring!

    1. It could be the way the pictures have been edited or your screen. But I do love the way colours appear differently in the home depending on the season and time of day.
