I’ve always been fascinated by the homes of people living abroad. It’s so inspiring to see hints of the culture they’ve brought with them mixed with influences from their new country—and everything in between. Over the years, I’ve shared so many beautiful examples: a Swedish photographer in France, two German creatives in Österlen, Sweden, and a Scandinavian living in Mallorca… and today, I’m excited to introduce Daniela’s home!
Originally from Munich, Daniela now lives in Gothenburg with her husband and their two children. Their 145-square-meter apartment is a newly renovated rental in an old building, and they’ve been here for six years. With a Finnish husband, German roots, and a love of design, Daniela’s home is a wonderful mix of Scandinavian mid-century modern, vintage treasures (including pieces from her husband’s Finnish family), and unique finds she’s thrifted or picked up on Facebook Marketplace. It’s stylish yet full of warmth, romance, and personality -a beautiful reflection of their life and creative spirit.
I can’t wait to show you more!
I don't have a good track record with houseplants but I love seeing them in posts like these, especially the vines that trail around windows. You're right, they do lift the spirits! Perhaps I should give it another go, despite not having a great deal of indoor light. If those of you dwelling in more northern latitudes can manage it, maybe I can too!
ReplyDeleteI used to have a dreadful track record with plants and then one day i decided two things: to only buy / inherit plants that are incredibly hardy and require little in the way of water, food and light - and also to then look after said plants. It has done the trick, and our home is now full of plants which makes such a difference. Although, I have to confess, we do still get some casualties here and there!
DeleteWhat a light and happy space. This sounds silly, but I get excited when I see pocket doors in a home. Our house has two pocket doors and they are brilliant! I could move in here and not change a thing--such a homey place.
ReplyDeleteI understand you, I love pocket doors too - happy you enjoyed this tour Kris :)
DeleteI too enjoyed seeing the lovely green plants! They freshened things up and brought in that feeling of nature which is especially important in winter! I seem to have a black thumb rather thna a green one.....mine never look that nice. : > ( Yes! Pocket doors are just cool!!
ReplyDeleteI hear you - plants can be tricky and we have had many casualties in our house. These days we only have VERY hardy plants and that seems to have done the trick!
DeleteThose bunk beds with a slide are every child DREAM!!💕
ReplyDeleteI really like the wall color (blush? peach, pink?) with the varied greens, from sofa upholstery, plants, rug and textiles. I think I even spotted a green bench at the dining table. Such lovely light in their home, too.
