An elegant Malmö home with Shades of Green, Ochre and Red

I'm all settled in my studio today and it's one of those bitterly cold February days - so I'm not planning on going anywhere! It makes sense therefore, to feature a home right here in the heart of Malmö!

I have driven past this apartment a thousand times, unbeknown to me that there was an elegant space filled with art, concealed just behind the facade!

Despite the large spacious rooms and beautiful bones it was actually the choice of furniture that stood out to me - a blend of contemporary finds and the occasional vintage piece as well as the deep earthy tones including forest green, red, ochre and slate - adding. contrast and cosiness.

All it needs now is for someone to take over the reigns and make it their new home. Could that be you?

Did you spot the projector on the wall in the first picture? I can't tell if the owners have made a box to conceal it themselves, or it was bought like this (I'm thinking the former), either way it's so subtle - way better than a big TV screen, don't you think?

Is there anything that popped out at you?

Have a lovely day folks - stay warm!

  1. Really nice place. What do you mean by someone making it personal? It looks totally lived in with a wall of books, eclectic artwork etc.

    1. You're right - it was my poor writing, I'll update now to make what I was trying to say a little clearer. Thanks for pointing out!

  2. I noticed the projector right away. I'm curious as to what the opposite wall looks like. I like the balance of airiness and warmth with the decorating.

  3. I love this especially the daybed in the living room and the curtains in the bedroom. The shiny white paint also adds so much light to the rooms. Being from US, the doors and windows always
    Are charming to me!

    1. Thank you for pointing these out. I do love a daybed, it adds another dimension to a space! The yellow cushion on it is cool too.

  4. Scandi design has such a "youthful" vibe to it, no matter the individual decor. And it always looks like the spaces are not quite finished...a work in progress, which I very much like. I have strived for these looks in my own home here in the southern U.S. Needless to say, my style stands out here among the locals, and I have gotten many compliments.

    1. I love this observation, and totally agree. Your home in southern US sounds wonderful. It's always good to dare to be different, and it sounds like your hard work has paid off.

  5. The collection of artwork feels like an organic display of what they love without feeling too formal or showy. I see that as a theme in many of the homes you share with us. It seems like a natural gift.

    1. Yes, so true! One of the key essence of a swedish culture is to be humble and not flaunt your wealth or show off and I think this comes across well in their homes.

  6. I like so much about this apartment, esp. the green sofa and the really nice kitchen. But I would immediately get rid of the jungle like plant in the main room and the awful art piece above the stack of books on the floor. Yes, I noticed the projector, it was not well hidden.
