A fabulous mid-century modern home in Los Angeles

This a-ma-zing Los Angeles Home of stylist Jessica De Ruiter was shot by Pia Ulin for Kinfolk Home - interiors for slow living. How apt. I could do just that in this space - starting with the pool! At first I was struck by the fabulous architecture (the home was built in 1953), and then I peeped inside and fell in love with the decor too.  Formerly an artist's home and studio, the family have adapted the Silver-Lake home to their needs but kept many of the original features. I love the earthy tones and soft textures and will you just look at that built in sofa, nook, and storage as well as the classic mid-century pieces? What a truly inspiring space...

This is such a dream space. I could absolutely live 'slow' here - could you?!

A few items I know and love: Safari chair. Pick up original mid-century chairs at Live Auctioneers. Houseology sells super soft neutral toned blankets like these. White sheepskin rugs/ throws.

Even though I have a tiny garden I still squirrel away lots of swimming pool inspiration here. For that day when...

More fabulous mid-century inspired homes include a Scandinavian home, a space in Berlin and a Gothenburg apartment. Got to love this style?!

Have a lovely day!

A stunning Swedish apartment in neutrals

I noticed on one of my favourite Norwegian blogs yesterday that they've received their first dusting of snow up there - brrrrr!  There isn't any in the South of Sweden yet (although I'd love some to arrive in time for Christmas) but it is getting a tad dark. I think that's why I love this Swedish home today - it has a beautiful warm glow to it. The neutral shades. the rattan, the wood. The parquet flooring. And of course, the room used as an artist's studio. Not to mention the prettiest cat! Can you spot her?!

Entrance. Anders Bergstedt
What a stunning space?

Did you spot the kitty cat?! She's super cute (and fits right in amongst the greys!) - incidentally Off black by F&B is a similar paint hue to that gorgeous dark grey on the guest bedroom wall.

Items I know and love: &tradition mass light, flos 265 lamp, DLM side table, source a similar macrame wall hanging here. Safari daybed. Brass dumling table lamp (although I think I prefer this fine specimen of a floor lamp!), sheepskin throw, Fancy finger pillow

The man and I are planning a three day hike in Norway next year (I've been waiting to do a hut to hut as long as I can remember). The lodging is going to be uber important to rest my weary feet (next to a roaring fire of course!)- I'm imagining it to look like this rustic cabin hide-away?! If that's the case - better extend it to a week?! Cabin tips welcome!

Do you have any holiday plans for next year?

Have a lovely day!

PS I snuck in a late night post of a Zen Swedish home yesterday (in case you missed it....).

A Zen Swedish space

Evening! I've just been on a lovely train ride through the skåne countryside  - the views were beautiful - one day I might try to capture some of the scenery out of the window and post it on IG. I even passed a sauna floating in the middle of a lake - accessed only by rowing boat! Anyway, I thought I'd nip in with an extra post this evening - a Swedish home tour courtesy of Hitta Hem. The space has been decorated in wood and greys throughout. The beauty is in the details - I love the oversized Bell lamp over the dining table and delicate plants. Let's take a peek.

Hitta Hem

This space has such a zen feel with the linens, rattan and calming greys don't you think?

The roughly painted headboard would make a great DIY project. Other simple yet fab DIY ideas include this hallway 'cloud' mat, a polka dot wall, and for a little luxury - how about a fab walk in wardrobe?! Yes please!

Items I know and love: Bell lamp in grey, pitcher by IKEA, this vintage chopping board is similar, japanese tea pot, Z1 pendant light, rattan chair, sheepskin rug, dark grey 'washed' linen bedding. Chunky knit blanket.

Also loving this grey and white bedroom.

Have a lovely evening!

Workspace inspiration: the Everlane studio

Good morning Monday! If like me you're back at your desk today you might be looking around and thinking - not this place again?! In which case I've just the inspiration for you. This is the Everlane studio in San Francisco. For those of you not familiar with Everlane - they sell absolutely fab basics and sell them without middlemen and stores - with the philosophy 'Know your factories. Know your costs. Always ask why' (love that). Needless to say, there studio is equally great - set in an industrial warehouse building with polished floors, shades of grey and warm wood, the look is simple, clean and fresh. Perfect inspiration for the start of the working week?!

Oh to work in a studio like this!

A tip on large plants for your space passed onto me by an interior designer recently....check out your local online secondhand stores to source large indoor plants.

If you'd like to see a little more work space inspiration it's well worth checking out my 'studio' archive (don't miss the Danish carpenter's workshop and the creative studio of Katrin Bååth - firm favourites of mine!).....and loads more work space (including fab home offices, collectives and ateliers) here. You don't even have to feel bad spending time over it as it's all in the name of work, right?!

Even if there is nothing that can be changed about your workspace - I see from the Everlane website they're shipping international until 22nd November (usually they only ship to the US and Canada) - so there's a way to cheer ourselves up anyway!

By the way - this isn't a sponsored post - I just found their studio and shop so inspiring and had to share it!

Have a wonderful start to the working week!

PS Don't miss the free printable 2016 wall calendar.
