A fab Copenhagen home revisited

On Friday I showed some beautiful images from the Copenhagen home and showroom of Karen Maj Kornum of Another Ballroom (remember that trompe l'oeil?!). And then yesterday I was so excited to discover a few more pics of the  lovely danish space and had to share them with you! I love her eclectic style, the mid-century touches, the lovely rugs and gallery walls. Let's take a peek at a few more corners...

*sigh* what a fab space, don't you think?

I love to see books in the home, don't you? I'm constantly looking for new ways to store mine (currently, they're on shelves made by my husband in our bedroom) - I like the way they've showcased the books on low wall mounted shelving and then created a gallery wall above in this space. More book inspiration here.

Many of the items you see including the art, ceramics, and  rugs are from Another Ballroom. Pick up cool mid-century piees at Lauritz or Etsy.

I'm so excited to introduce Modo Living, retailer of Skargaarden, iconic Swedish furniture.  I've had my eye on a H55 Outdoor Lounger (so fab!) and Haverdal throw blanket for my little back garden. Modo Living ships to the USA and Canada.

Have a lovely day!

A delightful home in Finland

Hello Monday! I hope you had a fab weekend? My alarm went off at 5.30am this morning - not ideal but you know what they say about the early bird....and it certainly rings true this morning. This is the beautiful Finnish home of Riika Kantinkoski - photographer, artist, stylist and blogger extraordinaire.  Think light wood floors, soft greys, Scandinavian design pieces and impeccable Finnish style. Oh how I'd love to start my week in this home, how about you?!

Photos: Riika Kantinkoski, with kind permission.

Honestly, Riika's home is like a breath of fresh air...it's just so effortlessly serene!

I love the idea of grouping different shaped vases with flowers from the garden, so simple yet so pretty (more indoor garden ideas here).

Items I know and love (in order of appearance): String shelves, aquarelle print (by Riika), Hay about a chair. SINNERLIG table lamp, macrame wall hanging (by Riika). SINNERLIG stool. Bedside table, Linen bedding.

You can keep up to date with Riika's latest home updates, projects and designs on her beautiful blog Weekday Carnival.

More oh so beautiful Finnish homes here, here and here.

Have a wonderful start to the week!

PS so pleased to be invited to be a part of luxury online home store Amara's 63 beautiful kitchen ideas piece. And thrilled to be nominated for 'Best European Interiors Blog' in the Amara Interior Blog Awards. My voting page is here. Exciting!

Bold and beautiful wall murals by Anewall

Hello there! I don't often post on weekends but after our discussion around Karen's home on Friday, I had to stop by and tell you about Anewall. Based in Vancouver, Canada, Anewall prints vintage art, iluustrations and photography and specialise in large prints including wall murals that are printed in house. I absolutely love their self adhesive banana leaf wallpaper, watercolour mural, and map of vancouver. All I need to do now is clear a large wall....

All photos: Anewall

I see they also offer a customised service - meaning you can turn your own photos, favourite quotes, or personal design into a wall decal. Oooo, interesting.

I was in a Danish home recently and they had a black and white wall mural of their three boys wading out to see - it was so personal and such a lovely way to bring a seascape inside, I've been thinking about it ever since.

Do you have a photo or design in mind?

The amazing guys at Anewall sponsored me to write this post - and for me it was a no brainer since I absolutely love what these guys are doing and really wanted to share their work with you! Thank you for supporting my sponsors who make this blog happen.

Happy weekend!

Great Dane style in Copenhagen

High ceilings, large light-filled rooms and a spattering of mid-century cool. This is the fab home of Karen Maj Kornum, owner of design gallery and webshop Another Ballroom, and her partner and four children in Frederiksberg, Copenhagen. Karen describes her style as 'classic with an edge'. The space also serves as a showroom for Another Ballroom - which thrives on a passion for aesthetics, harmony, people, cultures art, design and alternative ideas of interior design - and many of the rugs, ceramics, and art photography are from the store (cleary one to keep an eye on!). Let's take a tour....

Nicoline Olsen with kind permission

It took me a few minutes to understand the backwall of the sitting room - at first I thought it was another room, and then a mural. And then a giant wall to wall mirror (I've had a long week!). And now after a great discussion in the comment section below - I'm settling on an art photography mural or 'Trompe l'eoil' - realistic imagery which creates the optical illusion that the objects exist in 3D. Thanks for all your help!

Another great idea - and quick fix this weekend - is to pick up a beautiful, bright, bold patterned printed textile and throw it over the sofa / arm chair. Try Etsy for bold fabrics.

Other amazing Copenhagen spaces to celebrate the weekend...the fabulous home of a Danish interior designer, a Danish home with a touch of homespun, and a home with warm tones and quirky touches. Oh Danes, how I love your style!

A note popped into my mail this morning about a blow-out sale with 30% off Normann Copenhagen accessories from Blackthumb Decor, oh yes.  Time to snap-up a couple of different colour Pocket Organisers (as seen in action here) and a Folk Candlestick.

And now....it's THE WEEKEND! Yaaaay! We're heading to a 'kräftskiva' or Crayfish party tomorrow evening- which means singing, schnapps (and if I kmow my friends rights - a whole load of dancing)...can't wait! Are you up to anything fun?

Have a wonderful couple of days! And see you Monday.
