Singing the blues in a Swedish space

Blue is stealing the show this year (I'm especially loving this blue / black outfit for autumn - could it be because that was the colour of my school uniform?!). And the kitchen in this Swedish apartment is fab  - I'm not sure if it's the combination of deep blue with aqua, the leather handles, the grey splashback, light marble work surface or simply everything? It really sets the tone for the rest of the the home too (loving the cluster light, touches of mid-century and the oh so light and airy home office). Let's take a tour...

Entrance

This home has been styled for sale so it's perhaps a little spartan -but the beautiful bones are there (those windows...), imagine what you could do with it?

The light grey floor in the study looks fairly similar to the floor in my bedroom (painted with 'strong white'). I like the way they've painted the skirting boards in the same colour. It also ties the room with the rest of the home (they've used the same colour on the doors and hallway floor).  I do love a light grey and white combo!

If you're in the mood for more blue inspiration - I'm also loving this elegant blue kitchen in a Brooklyn home and these blue kitchens - in fact, there's an entire archive dedicated to the colour  (skip the first home as it will be this one). Are you a fan of blue?

It's another extremely early start for me today - one of my friends calls them  'double coffee mornings' .... and as I look out of the train window I'm dreaming of a slow morning back at home with coffee gently brewing on the stove (or perhaps I could be in this Gotland summer home or this pretty swedish cottage or infact, any summer cottage for that matter!). Don't you love mornings like those?

Have a lovely day!

A calm Swedish space high up in the rooftops

I had a bit of an eye watering start today - my alarm went off at 5.30am.  Three coffees down and I'm still wishing I was back in bed. Or at least cosying up on the sofa in this lovely apartment nestled high up in the rooftops of Gothenburg, Sweden.  Exposed beams, arched windows, soft linens, neutral tones - there's something incredibly calm about the space. I love the black chalk wall in the kitchen too. I could definitely see myself padding around here today, how about you?

It's like a little oasis of calm! And despite the low, sloped ceilings it still looks light and airy thanks to the white washed ceilings, walls and beams.

A pile of magos and a simple tray has made a great bedside table for the low-lying bed. Also loving these spaces with low beds...here, here and here (love the white-washed pallets!). Perfect for a loft / attic conversion.

I spy a Marshall speaker - I've got my eye on one of these for my sitting room. Love them!
Other items I know and love: sitting room - IKEA floor lamp, thonet 209 chair, this chunky knit cushion from H&M, LOHALS rug, Berlingske poster r, find similar blankets at lo+behold. Dining area: Ant chairs, chopping board. Bedroom: linen bedding, The Kinfolk Table book, I love the Nur tray.

Right...time for another coffee (or matchsticks..?).

Have a lovely, calm day!

The happy home of Marij Hessel (volume III)

Monday's can feel a little 'meh', can't they? So this morning, I went in search of a 'happy home' to brighten up the start of our week. Marij Hessel's lovely Dutch space always does the trick (in case you missed them, see also volume I and volume II!). Marij loves to constantly update her home with flea market finds, DIY ideas, mid-century pieces and bright pops of colour which means it doesn't matter how many times you have seen her home, there's always something new to look at! Let's take a peek at what Marij has been up to lately.

Marij Hessel / Enter My Attic

Marij's home makes me want to pepper my home with colour, it really puts a smile on my face - how about you?!

She's added it in such a clever way too - whether through painted furniture, geometric patterned walls, flowers and accessories.

You can keep up to date (and feel inspired) by Marij's projects and updates over at her blog Enter My Attic.

More cheerful homes to brighten up the start of the week here, here and here.

Have a lovely day!

A truly inspiring and creative loft space

Iiiiiit's Friday, woohoo! This definitely calls for a wonderfully cheerful home, don't you reckon?  And lucky for us, Cécil Figuette (owner of Bien Fait) has graciously opened the doors of her boho Parisien loft so we can all take a peek inside.  The bones of the former workshop can be seen peeping out from behind a creative mix of designer pieces, antiques, quirky vintage and flea market finds, items collected on travels and large wallpaper murals where bright colours and bold patterns reign supreme.  What a truly unique and imaginative home, perfect inspiration for le weekend....

Wow....those murals are just so great! Love the rugs too (Beldi sells similar).

A friend was thinking about buying this green sofa recently - after seeing the one in this home I'd say go for it! It looks lovely with all the greenery and bold patterned rugs. What do you think?

Is there anything that stands out to you about this home?

Thank you so much to Julie Ansiau (you can also follow her blog here) for the kind permission to share these photos - it's so beautifully captured. If you'd like to share these images further on your blog / Tumblr. etc, please contact Julie for permission first.

Other fabulous eclectic homes include this Norwegian family home, a fun Swedish space and a Scottish home.

Have a wonderful weekend and see you Monday!
