Bohemian home of a Melbourne florist

You know when you see something and you get just a tinsy bit well,....jealous?! Well, when I spotted this Melbourne home of florist, Poppy on Keke I couldn't help getting a tad envious. Firstly I love Poppy's laid back, bohemian interior style (most of all her fab kitchen), then that she is a florist and spends her days working with beautiful plants (look at the way she has used flowers to brighten up her home) and finally she is an incredible chef and cooks a mean 'Love Fern Paella'! The funny thing is my home looks nothing like Poppy's, I am blonde and I am no mean cook. I did buy daffodils yesterday though...could that be a start?!

Thank you Kirra, for inspiring me with your wonderful blog and for allowing me to publish these pics. Oh and, for the wonderful Love Fern Paella recipe!

Step Inside A Relaxed Bohemian Family Home In South Korea

Why, hello there! I'm excited to be kicking off the week with a My Scandinavian Home all time first: a home tour in South Korea! And it's perfect time with the country's first ever Oscar win last night!  B.Minjung (who I'll refer to from now on as 'B'!), her husband and their adorable two-year-old girl Yoon Seul live in the coastal city of Busan. The family are currently awaiting the imminent arrival of a baby girl, a little sister for Yoon Seul. The relaxed apartment is testimony to B's passion for vintage and bohemian decor and is a sea of warm, earthy tones and natural materials including wood, rattan and bamboo. B also loves to make her own home decor items - some of which she sells through her web shop. I hope you enjoy this lovely tour as much as I did!

The apartment is full of earthy natural tones - including an abundance of wood, rattan and bamboo. A simple wooden children's fence / gate ensures Yoon Seul can play safely in the sitting room.

I spy IVAR cabinets from Ikea. In Sweden it's popular to paint the cabinets to match the wall colour - but I love the way B has left them in natural pine.

And how cosy does that fluffy sheepskin throw* look on the rattan chair?

I have been scanning the pictures for clues on how South Korean's live. If the picture above is anything to go by, it seems they have a tendency to put washing machines / dryers in the kitchen - just like the Brits (in Scandinavia they these appliances tend to be in the bathroom). Where do you place them in your country?

Another thing I noticed is the dark wood floors - something you don't tend to see in Scandinavia right now.

I have always been a fan of binga baskets having seen them in this relaxed beach home, a bargain hunter's Antwerp home and a relaxed Tucson home (source a set of 5 here*).

Cuteness overload!

Is it too early to be thinking about weekend lie-ins and breakfast in bed?

Spot the tootsies!

There are few ledges in the bathroom so B has used the power of hanging plant holders and an Ikea step stool to add a touch of greenery!

There are so many pretty items in Yoon Seul's bedroom - but I especially love the little wicker trolley. I remember when my girls were two. They used to love rolling their toys from room to room, this luggy basket* would have been perfect!

I absolutely love that most of Yoon Seul's toys are made from wood. I often wince when I see mountains of colourful plastic toys that buzz and beep (even if kids do love them!). Having said that, I used to have a plastic fisher price garage and my children enjoyed it 30 years later. Some toys never go out of favour!

Did anything from B's home stand out to you?

You can see more pictures from B. Minjung's lovely home over on her instagram feed @ddbling

Here in Malmö the sun has just come out (hurray!) and I'm thinking of heading out to survey the damage from the storm last night - did you get crazy winds too? I also need to clear my head after a crazy week at fairs in Denmark, Stockholm and Frankfurt. I'm feeling full of inspiration but massively tired too! Roll on the weekend. Oh. It's only Monday. Bah!

Have a great start to the week folks!

The home of a Swedish fashionista

Things are a little frantic as I'm off to Paris first thing tomorrow for Maison & Objet - wahaaaay! So exciting! I must get packing. Which is perhaps why I felt drawn to the home of Karoline de la Concha today. With over 16 years experience in the fashion industry, Karoline runs a unique and fabulous store with a focus on private shopping, housed within her turn-of-the-century home in RĂ¥Ă¥, SkĂ¥ne. Oh how I could do with a creative consultant like Karoline today! Of course, the rest of the home is rather fabulous too. Here are some snapshots....

Photography: Sofi Sykfont

How lovely would it be to shop here? No queues, no grappling about in the changing room - just cool, calm and collected shopping in beautiful surroundings. What a great concept?!

Since I'm leaving early tomorrow morning the next time I'll be posting is after the weekend, but in the meantime I thought you might enjoy these home tours - all completely different, and all fabulous in their own way:

A happy, eclectic and bohemian world.

Krickelin's beautiful home in Elle Decoration (which I once also showed here).

Theo and Soula's creative studio and home.

And for something back to nature and unwind:

This shot is kind of beautiful and at the same time gives me chills....you?

I love this video!

Have a wonderful weekend, I look forward to reporting back on all the latest interior trends next week.

PS Are you heading to Maison & Objet too?

A fabulous home in Fontainebleau, France

Hello! It's Monday. It's November. I'm feeling the autumn inspiration, how about you?! It's great to be back after a wonderful week in London (I really missed My Scandinavian Home - is that weird?!). Although I must say, it's hard leaving London too - especially as my sister's expecting a baby anytime soon, so exciting! Do you have family in far away places too? Anyway, on with the home tour - and I thought I'd kick off the week with this rather fabulous 'maison' in Fontainebleau, France. I'm loving everything about the way Royal Roulotte have designed this space complete with monochrome and cognac colour theme, mid century geometric patterns and furniture, and vintage and antique touches - this home has it all!  Let's take a peek...

Home designed by Royal Roulotte. Found via DustJacket with thanks.

Oh la la! Think I might just move in if I may. That kitchen?!

Could you live here?

A quick guide on where to buy a few of the items: source mid-century furniture on Lauritz. Bert & May sells similar geometric tiles. Black fridge freezer by Smeg. Vitra RAR rocking chair (15% discount with code MYSCAN).

Other incredible French spaces include the home of French stylist (the black floor), the bohemian retreat of a fashion designer and a perfect Parisien home.

While in London I attended the Amara Interior Blog Awards and was incredibly honoured to be awarded 'highly commended' in the Best European Interiors Blog category! Thank you so much to everyone who voted for me, the judges, the category sponsor Missoni Home and of course luxury online homeware boutique Amara for a fab night!  I was so excited to meet so many talented bloggers, creatives and all round lovely people including Emily Quinton, Gudy Herder, and Natasha of CandyPop too.  Roll on IBA 2016!

I wasn't entirely off last week as I did do a little brainstorming - and I've got so many exciting plans for My Scandinavian Home this November - including a free gift for all of you (watch this space...), several gift guides (see how I avoided the C word there?! I'm not quite ready for it!) and fun give-aways. As well as lots and lots of fabulous Scandinavian inspired home tours of course. Eeee, can't wait!

Have a great start to the week!

A Bright and Airy Portland Home in Sepia Tones

Gog morgon vännen! How was your weekend?! The official holiday month has started here in Sweden. Swedes everywhere are rushing off to summer cottages, mapping out road trips or simply wondering down to the nearest bathing desk in their dressing gown for a morgon dopp (morning dip!). We're currently in Varberg on Sweden's West coast (a bit of a surfer's spot) and I'm enjoying an hour's respite from my family (eeek, is that mean?! I do love them really, it's just that, you know, school holidays and all that...!). I thought I'd take an hour, pour myself a coffee and we could virtually transport ourselves to Portland Oregon and the home of assistant interior, prop stylist and interior designer Ezz Wilson, what do ya think?! Recently featured in Rue Magazine, Ezz's bright and airy home is delightfully sepia (cue: white with touches of tan, rust and ochre) with natural textures throughout. I caught up with Ezz to find out more about it!

Can you tell us a little about the history of the house?
The house is a 100-year-old, former farmhouse that was turned into a multi-family building, and then back into a house, and then humbly patched and slap-dashed together before we moved in. So, needless to say, the layout is somewhat wonky! So much so that we almost didn't get the house. But it felt so cozy and charming that we decided to adapt to the layout as best we could. But there are days when you find a hidden chimney stack in the TV room wall or a mysterious doorway outline appears in the bedroom wall as the foundation settles over time and the drywall cracks and you think to yourself, "What on earth??" The size of the house is about 1500 square feet.

Stockholm 2017 chair, Chemex coffee maker*round basket bag*, The Scandinavian Home (so happy to spot this on Ezz's coffee table!).

How would you describe your colour scheme?
Lots of whites, creams, and wood tones, but lately I'm adding some earthy colors like terracotta, rust, warm blush and ochre. I think that's about as wild as it's gonna get at my house!

Kitchen from IKEA.

What inspires you?
I grew up in a sunny climate in the U.S., in a Puerto Rican family, and was heavily influenced by the Mediterranean and Caribbean, although I didn't care for those styles as a kid. If you told me that when I grew up, my house would end up full of rattan and wicker, I probably would've cried! When I was 19, I moved to Sweden for about six months, and I think that must have influenced my love for Scandinavian design as well.

For a long time, I've felt that my style was the love child between a serene Swedish minimalist and a bohemian, beach-loving Spaniard, even though I wasn't sure how to execute that combination at first. But I finally narrowed in on what I really wanted this home to look and feel like. I need lots of white, calm and clean lines in my home to feel relaxed and clear-headed. Yet, I also need plenty of warmth, natural fibers and folky 70s vibes to get me through the long, dark winters of Portland and help me feel more connected to my roots and culture.

I'm also very inspired by the design coming out of Byron Bay, Australia, as well as French magazines such as Maison Cote Sud, Toc Toc Toc Editions and Milk Decoration!

You have some beautiful pieces in your home, where do you shop?
I've found a lot of great pieces through my local thrift stores, Craigslist, World Market, Urban Outfitters and Target. I also love the following ethically minded companies: Fine Life Co - a beautifully curated shop in Arizona that mostly sells ethically made clothing but has some lovely ceramics too (and the shop owner Emily Benziger has a gorgeous home!), Bohemia Designs for Moroccan straw bags, stools etc and Bea Linen* for linen sheets.

Can you recommend three inspiring Instagram account 'must follows'?!

The loft space has been painted in the faintest hint of pink which goes beautifully with the rust coloured cushions!

Thank you so much for inviting us into your lovely home Ezz!

If you'd like to see more pictures, check out Ezz's instagram feed and also issue 50 of Rue Magazine, for the full write-up!

And for more 'sepia' home inspiration today I'm loving this cosy weatherboard cottage, white and warm brown tones in a lovely Swedish home and a soothing white and caramel home

I'm curious, is this your kind of scheme, or do you need more colour?

Due to the (aforementioned) holiday here in Sweden my blogging is going minimalist and I'll be stopping in every other day instead of everyday (I hope that's OK?!).

Have a wonderful couple of days and see you Wednesday!

Mid-century meets Boho in a Brooklyn Home

Hejsan! How's everything with you today? I'm curious, do you have a city that feels like a home from home for no other reason than it feels right? One of mine is Brooklyn! I always get excited when I discover a home tour in the New York City borough, especially when it's as lovely as this one. Mallory shares her apartment in Greenpoint with her partner and two cats and runs The Reserve, a thoughtfully curated shop selling the most beautiful rugs, poufs and cushions made from vintage Moroccan textiles. Let's take a tour...

How would you describe your style?
My style tends to shift faster than I can keep up, but I would describe it as eclectic meets Mid Century modern meets California cool (in New York, of course). I’m drawn to natural materials like wood, jute, and wool and I love designing our space with a soft color palette in mind.

Tell us about your passion for rugs:
"I'm a big believer that woven rugs can add so much character and texture to your home and alongside plants, make a huge style statement! I'm a fan of rugs in the dining room, kitchen, and layered in a living room or bedroom. My jaw always drops when I see a pop of colour in a perfectly worn runner lining a hallway or entry."

Rugs can be really tricky - do you have any style tips for us?
"My tip would be to invest in quality handmade pieces with a history. Beautifully worn Persian rugs or faded Moroccan Boujaad rugs are my absolute favourite to style with. One-of-a-kind always wins in my book."

Loving the poufs you sell, do you have any advice for anyone looking to buy one for their home (i.e. me!)?
With poufs, my advice would be to think outside the box! I use my floor poufs as additional seating when entertaining, as space holders for those awkward nooks and crannies in the house, as lovely-to-look-at pet beds, and I stack them up to use as ottomans for movie nights at home. I know many people that also use them in reading nooks for kids or as meditation pillows.

Urban Outfitters NYC paid Mallory's a visit a few weeks back and turned their bedroom into a 'floral wonderland! Love how Michael (one of their kitty cats) is taking shade under a cheese plant leaf on the windowsill too!
