Whites and greys in a Swedish apartment

I woke up this morning to a thunderstorm. I love thunderstorms as long as I'm tucked up all cosy indoors. I once sat playing cards with with my family in a summer cottage while a thunderstorm raged outside and it was so cosy! What are your thoughts on thunder and lightening - exciting or frightening?! Do you have any happy memories from one? I hope the weather gets better though as it's actually a four day holiday here in Sweden so we're off for the weekend soon - yoohoo! Before I head off I wanted to leave you with this little gem of an apartment in Gothenburg which has been styled by Alvhem. It's so beautifully arranged and home to so many lovely pieces.

I absolutely love the Flos 365 wall light. I was keen to have it in my sitting room and then I saw it in real life and realised it's actually really big! Perfect if you have a lot of wall space and looking to make a bold statement.

I also love the clothes rail. I've been thinking about buying one from Annaleena's shop for our guest bedroom. She has a lovely blog too.

Anything that catches your eye?

So guys, lots to do before I head off - hurry hurry hurry! I hope you all have a fab weekend and I'll see you Monday!

A beautifully designed Malmö apartment

Every now and again a home goes on the market which makes me want to move home (or at least use that as an excuse to go to the viewing!). Currently that home is one designed by interior stylist Emma Persson Lagerberg, in Gamla stan (the old district) of Malmö.

So many cool rooms and pieces - personally I love the bathroom - there's something extremely luxurious about large bathrooms! What about you?

I spy soooo many fab designer pieces: The Louis Poulsen PH5, Tom Dixon Bronze Copper Shade pendent and the Muuto Unfold pendant lights. Vintage Eames side chairs DSW in the kitchen - try Lovely & Company for vintage fibreglass ones or for new plastic ones: Designcollectors where you can also find the Vitra DCM chair in black (15% off with code MYSCAN).

I wonder how the owners can leave this home?
PS Thank you so much for all your lovely comments about my 'spring' dining space yesterday, you made my day!

My home: first signs of spring

Hello Monday! I hope you all had a lovely weekend. I'm feeling very revived after a weekend sailing in the Öresund! Back home I cut a few sprigs from our Japanese Cherry tree and used them as a centre piece on our dining room table. Despite the signs of spring I'm not quite ready to lose the sheepskin rugs yet.....they're too comfy for words!!

My Scandinavian Home

A little 'get the look' info..... around the table: the dining chairs are from a flee market and painted white, vintage stool from Lovely & Company. On the table, the Iittala Nappula Candleholder gifted by Finnish Design Shop, the Muuto Gloria candleholder gifted by Nest and the Kubus Bowl gifted by By Lassen. The white bowl is by a local swedish ceramicist. Am I missing anything?

What do you have on your dining room table?

A beautiful office in white and light wood

If I had a beautiful white office space like this I might actually skip the sailing and look at pretty pictures on Pinterest work all weekend! I really love this very scandinavian white with light wood look it's so light and fresh. What about you?

The lovely desk by Sandwall Design goes beautifully with the classic white Ant Chair.

I hope you all have a really wonderful weekend!

Fresh inspiration from a Gothenburg apartment

Lots of inspiration to be taken from this lovely apartment in Gothenburg styled and for sale through Alvhem. From the pretty wallpaper, flashes of colour, wall space (love the single pink pom pom) and metal storage units to the pretty balcony with cosy cushions and rag rugs. the entire apartment looks really fresh and ready for spring.

Alvhem
I could definitely see myself sipping a morning coffee on that balcony, how about you?

Speaking about sipping coffee (or something stronger perhaps...) there's only one day left before the weekend - yay! My parents are visiting from London so we're thinking of going sailing  (our boat is available for rent here in Southern Sweden for any of you budding sailors out there!). It's been a long winter so I can't wait to get out on the water for the first time this year. Do you have any plans?

Nordic pastels and neons

For those of you with IKEA furniture (err, anyone out there who doesn't own a piece?!) you'll be as excited as I am about Swedish store Bemz and their latest Collection: Nordic Pastels. Bemz promises to give your IKEA sofa, chairs, cushions etc a new lease of life with custom made textiles in the latest spring colours, just add a lick of neon paint! Bemz actually makes me want to go out and buy an IKEA sofa just so I can cover it in apricot fabric and paint the legs neon yellow, what?

Bemz

How about painting your bed / sofa / chair legs in hot neon for a super cool, super quick make-over?

It's a bank holiday here today so I'm off to enjoy the sunshine with my family, I'm tempted to run passed the paint shop too....:)

Swedish apartment: black, white and texture

I spotted this beautiful apartment over on Emmas Design blog this morning. The kitchen and bedroom in particular are soooooo fab. Bistro style dining chairs are quickly becoming the dining chair of the moment and I love the contrast of the black against the otherwise white kitchen. The wood effect wall (wallpaper?) also adds warmth to the room.  Having seen the painted grey floor in the bedroom I am seriously tempted with my own bedroom! And what about how they've cut a square out of the plaster to expose the brickwork?

What do you think?

An important announcement - thank you so much for all your wonderful entries to win the Vitra L'oiseau from Designcollectors. The winner of the beautiful birdy is Karina from Makao Home! Congratulations! I wish you could have all won :)

Here in Sweden my family and I are heading up the coast to celebrate Valborg (Walpurgis night) with a huge bonfire and singing. Do you celebrate Walpurgis night in your country?
