A crisp black and white Swedish home

It's weird. Some weeks there are oodles of beautiful interiors to choose from and others I find myself scratching around. Fortunately this week, there are so many beautiful spaces floating around on Pinterest, Instagram and other favourite sites, I'm not sure which to blog about first! In the end I plumped for this Stockholm apartment today as it's a great reflection of the snow and silhouettes outside my window. It's been decorated throughout in black and white and crammed with inspiringly simple ideas. I especially love the piles of magazines used as a bedside table, the different lighting and the lovely children's room. Let's take a tour....

I'll always love the crispness and the clean lines of a monochrome home. How about you?

Get the look:  Bedroom - try this beautiful vintage scissor light (not sure why I'm sharing this as I'd love this in my own home! -  for similar try here), concrete plant pot, jar with lid. Sitting room - BESTĂ… storage cabinets. Kitchen - G print, Eames chair, Marimekko bowls. Children's bedroom - wigwam / teepee, kili baby cot.

You can see more pics of this space over at Fantastic Frank.

Other links I love today -

A delicate moodboard.

On the menu tonight (they had me at the avocado sauce). And perhaps a Swedish semla layer cake for pudding?! YUM!

It seems 'mint' is the 2016 alternative to navy blue in the world of sofas. Loving this one (did you see the one I linked to yesterday too?). Although I do love this contrast - beautiful!

Now that I'm back home again the first thing I'm going to do is fill my home with plants and fresh flowers. And this fab studio has encouraged me to do the same in my work space! You in?!

Happy International Women's Day.

See you tomorrow!

The perfect blend of modern and traditional in a Paris home

Hello! I hope you're having a great start to the week? We're back in Sweden and the snow (shock to the system after the soaring heat of Sri Lanka! - not to mention the start of the working week!). But the good news is, I've got a home tour that is set to put a smile on all our faces! It comes in the form of the fab Parisian home of Morgane SĂ©zalory - founder and designer at SĂ©zane the first online French fashion brand. Clients are invited to try on the collections in 'The Apartment' (now that's what I call my kind of changing room!). Morgane's private home is the perfect blend of modern and traditional which is both relaxed and stylish. I sense a touch of Scandinavian influence too. Yay!

Photography: HervĂ© Goluza - shared with kind permission. Found via French by Design with thanks.
What a truly lovely home, don't you think?! Relaxed, personal and homely. It's really brightened up my day!

Get the look: this lovely blue velvet mid-century chair is very similar, House Doctor floor lamp and rug, source a vintage Japanese cast iron teapot here, or a new one here. Keep an eye out for an industrial table lamp here and pom poms here.

Other spaces with a mid-century touch I love today include the fab home of Natalie Myers, an LA pad (one of my favourite homes!) and a beautiful Swedish space.

Have a wonderful start to the week!

PS  If you order a copy of my book through my book store before Friday18th March 2016 I'll happily sign it for you.  Simply send me a separate email with your order number and the message you'd like me to include. Your book will be shipped week beginning 20th March 2016.

A serene Swedish space with pretty pastels

It's starting to feel a lot like spring in this lovely Swedish apartment. Floaty linens, soft pastels, the double doors to the balcony thrown open and a pot of tea waiting to be enjoyed. What a perfect home to welcome in the first weekend of March, don't you think?!

Sadly these photos have been seperated from their owner - does anyone know the photographer / stylist / source so I can pair them up once again?

What a dreamy space!

Get the look: rattan chair, round vintage stool (absolutely love this vintage milking stool too), Thonet chairs, rag rugs (especially loving this handmade teal one, buy beautiful linen by the metre here, source a dream catcher here. Storage baskets.

Other homes full of the joys of spring include this lovely Dutch home and a fab green and cognac space.

More Friday finds:

Don't miss Jeska's lapland trip part I and part II - something for early spring perhaps?!

Ten best office spaces.

Latest rug shop find - Semikah Textiles (this isn't sponsored - I'm just spreading a little Friday love as the textiles are divine!).

The nicest children's classroom I've ever seen.

I haven't seen a sofa in this colour for years - and I kind of like it, how about you?

We're leaving colonial Templeberg Villa today. Time to fly home to Sweden after three amazing weeks in Sri Lanka. What a wonderful country - the people, the scenery and the culinary delights. We'll be back!

Have a wonderful weekend!

A grey-scale Swedish apartment with a dreamy bedroom

I know I'm not alone in my love of grey-scale Swedish apartments - it's hard not to have a weakness for this style isn't it?! And this newly renovated space in Gothenburg (again!) has it all - including a beautiful light wood floor, high ceilings, a beautiful 'kakelugn' (or masonry stove) and a lorry load of white paint! But what really captured my imagination is the bedroom with it's large, airy feel and beautiful mix of classic and contemporary pieces. Not only that but it also has plenty of storage space too - hooray! I also love the contrast against the charcoal coloured walls in the adjoining room. I could wake up here every morning, how about you?!

Alvhem Mäkleri

Such a lovely space, don't you think?! Is there anything that stands out to you in particular?

Get the look: white linen bedding, this light grey knitted blanket is similar, butterfly chair (loving the cognac leather!), 7 chair, AJ floor lamp.

Other links I love today:

A cabin surrounded by nature.

Coming from a sailing family my first love will always be the sea, which is why this 'beach vibe' interiors post hit a chord. Roll on summer!

Lovel, love, love H&M's urban jungle theme for Spring / Summer 2016.

Fancy a pear and nutella tart for pudding tonight? (I'm not sure the Nutella would last long enough to create a tart in our house)?!

We're leaving Sri Lanka tomorrow after three wonderful weeks sniff, sniff. To get a taster of the rhythm of the South of this beautiful country, take a look at this film clip shot by two swedes who have set up a surf and yoga camp here. Tempted?!

Have a lovely day!

A romantic Swedish home with vintage touches

Even though I've published over 1000 Scandinavian home tours here on My Scandinavian Home, there are some spaces which really stand out. This Swedish family home in Gothenburg is one of them. And now it's time for owners Cattis, Robert and their daughter Stella to move on. How they can part with this beautiful home with it's magnificent garden doors, exposed brick walls, sweeping staircase and romantic wallpapers is beyond me. But one thing's for sure, I'm sure their next home will be equally, if not more, fabulous! And whoever snaps up this space (for sale here) is very lucky indeed! Tempted?!

Homeowner: Cattis / Another side of this life. Entrance.

It could be that the style looks a little English with it's patterned wallpaper, retro kitchen tiles and rows of books. Or it could simply be that the owners have created a truly personal, unique and relaxed space with a lovely romantic touch. Either way, I absolutely love this home!

Could you imagine living here?

Get the look: kitchen - cube illusion tiles in grey look similar, Vitra hang-it-all,  Tom Dixon Etch light, source beautiful vintage mirrors here, I love these vintage Thonet chairs similar to the ones seen in the dining area. Sitting room - vintage string shelving, find a similar macrame wall hanging here, seagrass basketBedroom: Linen bedding. William Morris wallpaper.

You can see more pictures of this lovely space here. It's also worth putting your feet up and browsing Cattis' blog which often features lovely snapshots of family life within the home.

Have a lovely day!
