Lovely black floors in the home of a French stylist

I can't seem to get enough of black floors right now. While the previous home had high-gloss black painted floors, this wonderful French home has matt stained floors for a rougher texture. French stylist Anne-Fleur Broudehoux, one half of Roseanna, immediately fell in love with this former shop in a hidden courtyard in Paris and has turned it into a wonderful home. It's teeming with vintage and second-hand finds and beautiful Morroccoan rugs which pop against the black backdrop. Are you tempted yet?!

What a lovely relaxed home, don't you think?

I love the clever built-in headboard which brings the bed away from the wall to create extra space for shelving. The open shelves make a really personal feature and add a little cosiness to the room.

Find a similar array of rugs at Beldi (I once featured Beldi's owner Tamsin Flower's cheerful home - which is full of lovely Boucherouite and Azilal rugs - perfect inspiration!

Is there anything that stands out to you?

Other beautiful French homes to admire today include Elodie's Bordeaux townhouse and the home of a French fashion designer.  Oh la la!

Have a wonderful day!

PS If you're stuck in the office today - close your eyes for a minute and dream you're a million miles away on this swing. Did it do the trick?!

A Finnish home in striking charcoal tones

I love it when I receive an exciting e-mail. This time it was from designer Laura Seppänen sending over lovely pics from her latest interior design project. The client brief was to turn a two room apartment in Helsinki into a stylish, monochrome interior with the slightest hint of a hotel vibe. Laura added handmade and designer Finnish design pieces, and some fab prints to make the space come alive. The result is a pretty cool space with charcoal tones softened with warm wood. Let's take a tour..

Photos kindly submitted by Designer: Laura Seppänen, Photographer: Suvi Kesäläinen

I love the bedroom! Charcoal bedding is such a great way to channel the broody dark grey trend  (as seen in this home)- but without committing to painting walls. This charcoal linen bedding and throw are similar.

To furnish the home Laura has used items from Finnish brands Adea and Valanti. The prints (in order of appearance) are:  RK Design, Blur, Brooklyn Landmarks. If there's anything in particular you're wondering about give me a shout in the comment section below and I'll dig into it!

I love the last home Laura designed too. Two totally different styles, which do you prefer?

You can keep up to date with her latest projects on Intagram and Facebook.

A Swedish artist's home in a former school house

When you go on holiday do you sometimes have a fleeting moment where you wonder if you should move there permanently?! Whether it's the Gothenburg archipelago in Sweden, Cornwall on the SouthWest coast of England or even the French Alps, I start imagining what life would be like year-round.  Sadly I've yet to follow this dream. However, Swedish glass artist Gunnel Sahlin has done exactly that.  Gunnel and her husband were looking for a summer cottage back in the 1990's and were so mesmerised by the former school house with it's beautiful light-filled rooms and incredible vistas that it eventually became their year-round home and Gunnar's atelier. One look around the house with it's high ceilings, original features and relaxed feel and I understand why, how about you?

What a lovely, realxed home?!

I love all the vintage and antique finds, muted blues and greys and the art on the bedroom wall.

I'm also in love with that bathroom - where we're staying right now doesn't have one and I'm missing my long baths - they're my sanctuary! More dreamy bathroom inspiration here, here and here.

Is there anything you love about this home?

More beautiful Swedish country homes include the magnificent Dalarna home of Ylva Skarp, the boho home and studio of a Swedish artist and the striking monochrome home of a photographer. Time to move to the country?!

 Have a lovely day!

PS last day to enter The Youngters give-away!
