A Stockholm apartment with a 'twist'!

Hello Thursday! I wasn't kidding when I said this Stockholm apartment has a 'twist'. Currently for sale through Fantastic Frank it has been styled with a strong theme throughout -  'cross-legged' or 'twisted' furniture legs! Look closely and you'll see them everywhere. How very cool! I also love some of the subtle light grey walls which soften up the starkness of the white. How about you?

Many of the items you see are from fab brands No Early Birds and One Nordic.

Fantastic Frank are pioneers in exploring funky ways to style an apartment for sale (see cool examples of their homes here, here and here).

This is catching on across the Swedish estate agent scene and recently a home swept across Swedish Facebook sites because one seller took funky styling to a new level. Take a look for yourself here and see if you recognise a link between the rooms?!!

Have a wonderful Thursday!

The extraordinary 'Ordinary House'

I have a real penchant for houses tucked away in a forest somewhere, how about you? One day I hope my dream of renovating a Scandinavian retreat by a lake or the sea will be realised. In the meantime, I'll  store away inspiration from homes like this beautiful black wood paneled cabin. Named 'The Ordinary House' it is really anything but ordinary, in fact it's a bit of an architectural feat and simple stunning inside. Could you spend your weekends here?

Photographer: Björn Lofterud via Skattejakt

There are a couple of things that caught my eye. Firstly the Eames Side Chairs (try LiveAuctioneers for vintage ones like the ones here or Design Collectors). And secondly the bright coloured tribal-inspired rugs and textiles in the sitting room which are so now and create such a warm and cosy atmosphere (Anthropology and Loom Rugs sell a beautiful selection).

Is there anything in particular which catches your eye?

Other retreats I absolutely love include this sea-side cabin in the Stockholm archipelagos, a white and wood holiday home, and a Finnish chalet. And so many others here!

The photographer behind these beautiful images of The Ordinary House, Björn Lofterud also sells wonderful prints here.

Quick reminder: have you had a chance to enter the give-away to win a Rosendahl Monkey by Danish designer Kay Bojesen yet? The competition is open to everyone worldwide - I wouldn't want you to miss out!

Have a lovely day!

What colour kitchen cabinets would you choose?

The kitchen is such an important room. One of my Mum's friends always refers to it as 'the engine room of the house', which I think is spot on, don't you? Last night I got a message from a great friend in London asking for advice on what colour kitchen cabinets she should choose. We've all been in interior dilemmas before and when I saw the picture of her kitchen (scroll down to the last image), I knew I had to help, plus it gave me an excuse to drool over beautiful kitchens on Pinterest. I also found these beautiful kitchens shot by one of my favourite Swedish photographers, Jonas Ingerstedt...could white or a shade of blue be the answer?!

Blue from the kitchen of Saša Antić:

Or a shade darker?

I absolutely love the dark blue one, but perhaps not for my friends space.

Any thoughts?

What colour is your kitchen?

If you'd like to see more inspiration, take a peek at photographer Jonas Ingerstedt's own kitchen, this stunning Danish kitchen in pastels and this white and grey Malmö kitchen. Infact, type 'kitchen' into the my scandinavian home search and you'll find hundreds of beautiful kitchens (I couldn't believe it!).

PS I was quite nervous about this post since I only ever post images of spaces on My Scandinavian Home I absolutely love. So putting the last image on here was enough to break me out into a slight sweat (eh hem. I mean a gentle 'glow'!) but it's important to get out of the comfort zone from time to time....especially to help a friend in need, isn't it?!

Have a lovely Tuesday!
