A Danish home in earthy hues

Wednesday is known as 'lilla lördag' (little Saturday) here in Sweden, because it's time to go out and have a little mid week party....or that's my interpretation at least, and I am sticking to it....I'm not sure if it's the same in Denmark though, but this home of Tine Havmöller and her family just North of Copenhagen, decorated in earthy tones and a beautiful light wood floor is definitely worth celebrating. PS spot the family rabbit. Altogether now...aaaaaaah!

I really love the last image of their garden. Couldn't you just slip under one of those fleece blankets and read a book in the spring sunshine right now?

Finnish style in the Hamptons

You can take a Finn out of Finland but there'll bring their fantastic finnish style with them. This is what Tiina Laakkonen did when she and her husband bought a series of old barns in the East Hamptons and pretty much re-built them from scratch with their own Scandinavian touch......

There's a great article about this home in T magazine here.

I am a happy bunny at the moment as I have a whole pile of great interior inspiration magazines to flip through thanks to my trip to London. Top of the pile are the latest issues of Elle Decoration UK and Living Etc. Would love to hear any glossy interior tips from your country....?

Have a lovely day!

A warm wood feel in Southern Sweden

Feeling revived from my mini break to London (more on that tomorrow), and since I have just set foot on Swedish soil I thought it'd be rude not to post something from around here. So here are a few pics from Malmö photographer Vidir Giersson's portfolio, the photographer behind the Malmö Modern post I shared last Monday. These warm rooms are all softened by touches of different types of wood. I love the way Vidir has captured the texture, it makes me want to reach out and touch it!

I see the great blog La Maison D'Anna G has also spotted Vidir's portfolio, perfect!

Don't you just love arriving home? I think I'm going to relax on the sofa with a cup of tea and one of new interior magazines! I hope you all had a lovely weekend. x

A fun, quirky and bright Stockholm home

Le weekend is here! YAAAAY! To celebrate, and complete the Swedish interior week, what better than this happy and fun home bang in the centre of Stockholm? I love all the quirky posessions, the colour choices and the relaxed feel of the apartment.   Myrica Bergqvist, the stylist behind the shoot told me that it's her friend Bella Goldman's apartment and that  'she has done all the fantastic interior design herself'.  Wonderful job Bella, thank you for brightening up our weekend!

Stylist: Myrica bergqvist. Photographer: Patrik Johansson. Interior Designer/home: Bella Goldman

If you fancy checking out a few more inspiring interior pictures this weekend, why not check out the portfolio of  Swedish photographer, Patrik Johansson the guy behind the above images. It's well worth a visit!!

Just a little note also to say hej hej! to all my new readers. The guys at wonderful Atelier Decor blog asked me where my 'follow' button was yesterday and so now I've made it crystal clear with a big B icon in the right margin (thank you Ana at Blog Milk). Just give it a quick click if you want to stay up to date with all my posts! You can also click here to follow me! New followers always make my day!

Any plans for the weekend? I am actually off on a mini break to see my little sister. She has been in Australia so I haven't seen her for an entire year. Soooo exciting!

Trevlig helg! :) and see you Monday!

Monochrome home of a Swedish photographer

Since this is panning out to be a bit of a Swedish week I couldn't resist sharing images from another Swedish photographer's home. This time, Stockholm based Jakob Nylund who has an incredible portfolio (hard to believe he's 27). I'd definitely recommend having a whirl around his blog. I especially love the white walls and black floors and the use of wall mounted and desk angle poise lamps. And the photography of course, is simply stunning.

A renovated Swedish fisherman's cottage

Hej there! For the Swedes out there, I hope you had a lovely Valborg! My family and I sailed up the coast to a beautiful old fishing village on Sweden's South West coast where the girls helped light the bonfire. A photographer friend cycled down to the harbour on his long john the following morning to collect us for breakfast at his home. It was such a beautiful house, built in the 1860's by a fisherman. I couldn't resist borrowing his tripod and whipping round to take a few photos........

They've done tonnes of work on the house, knocking through walls, lowering floors, building an extension. Much of the Danish sitting room furniture was bought on the auction site Lauritz which they then upholstered. ....... I think the result is incredible!

PS I know my photography is need of a little improvement and it was quite embarrassing letting my friend look through the pictures! However, he did give me one great tip: use F20 when photographing interiors as it will give you a wider focus range and sharper detail across the room. Next time.... :)

Malmö Modern

Hej hooo! A few weeks ago I was in shop heaven when I visited Malmö Modern which sells amazing scandinavian designer items and a few fab international pieces too including a selection from the very wonderful Scottish designer Donna Wilson. The good news is they've just opened an online shop too (sorry...Sweden only). As you'd expect, the owners have a very cool home which I thought I'd share with you.  A cream bun for the person who can spy the most designer items?!!

It's a public holiday here today so we're heading off sailing for the day. It's a little choppy but hopefully that'll just add to the fun....! Have a lovely day. x
