Hej there! For the Swedes out there, I hope you had a lovely Valborg! My family and I sailed up the coast to a beautiful old fishing village on Sweden's South West coast where the girls helped light the bonfire. A photographer friend cycled down to the harbour on his long john the following morning to collect us for breakfast at his home. It was such a beautiful house, built in the 1860's by a fisherman. I couldn't resist borrowing his tripod and whipping round to take a few photos........

They've done tonnes of work on the house, knocking through walls, lowering floors, building an extension. Much of the Danish sitting room furniture was bought on the auction site Lauritz which they then upholstered. ....... I think the result is incredible!
PS I know my photography is need of a little improvement and it was quite embarrassing letting my friend look through the pictures! However, he did give me one great tip: use F20 when photographing interiors as it will give you a wider focus range and sharper detail across the room. Next time.... :)
Looks like a lovely place, I tried to take photo's in my house.....definately needed a wide lense!! mine were rubbish!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a great day.
Just had a look at thatb auction site very nice, saw some fantastic Eames chairs on there. x
It's always harder than you think it's going to be. I'm so thankful there's photoshop to fall back on but I definitely need a lot more practise!! Lauritz is a brilliant site for vintage classic scandinavian items - I love it!
DeleteWhat a beautiful + relaxed looking cottage .... so glad u were able to take photos to share with us! Gorgeous!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's even lovelier in person, but it is pretty gorgeous isn't it?
DeleteGreat job on the upholstered pieces.
ReplyDeleteI am always on the look out for indoor photography tips too (so thanks for sharing)
It's quite tricky isn't it? Any other tips very welcome this side!!
DeleteNo Valborg in England unfortunately... Maybe next year! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful home. Love what they have done with it! And it is tricky to photograph interiors, I find the hardest part is often to get enough light in the pictures. I am such an amateur... what does F20 mean?
Shame! You'll have to light a bonfire in your garden and hand out some song sheets - the neighbours might wonder what on earth you are doing though!! So the camera. Now, bearing in mind I'm also an amateur so it's the blind leading the blind here.... but if you put the camera in Manual mode (M on the dial) (I've got a Canon) there's a little box with a F number. If you want to have something in focus near you and blurred in the background you can choose something like F5.6. If you want to have everything in detail (i.e. the whole room) choose a higher number like F20.
DeleteThank you so much Niki!!! :D I actually have a good quality camera so I really should spend more time playing with the different settings :)
DeleteWhat a beautiful home. It looks bright and airy but is still cozy at the same time. The furniture is gorgeous! I still need to learn all the functions my new camera has. Thanks for sharing the tip on how to get better photos of interiors.
