The Melbourne home of an illustrator and vintage bargain hunter

I spotted this Melbourne home of illustrator Paula Mills over at the great, well known blog Design Sponge. When I saw it, I knew I had to have it, eh hem, I mean share it. I can't tell you how much I love the home-owners' style. The wonderful wall displays, the vintage finds from around the globe, the pops of colour, the white backdrop. Everything is spot on and apparently this is only the beginning.

If you fancy reading more about this home hop on over to the full interview and more pics at Design Sponge.  Don't you love the display of tomato tins? Such an easy to way to make a great display. Next time I'm at the supermarket I might just buy a few items for their packaging (x15!). Any ideas you'll take from this?

Bespoke furniture by Norwegian photographer Trine Thorsen

Hej hooo!! How was the weekend? Are you feeling as blurry eyed as me this moring?! If we think we've got a lot on, consider Trine Thorsen, Norwegian photographer, and now designer and producer (together with her boyfriend) of timeless, classic bespoke furniture including shelves, benches, wood storage etc. And when Trine isn't busy with that she's renovating her early 20th century Norwegian home. Phew!  Impressive! More projects anyone?!

A black and white Finnish log cabin

I'm so happy it's Friday! Today I'm off with my little girls and we're planning on going out and doing lots of fun things. But first, I couldn't resist publishing this charming Finnish log cabin decorated in black and white and crammed with vintage finds. Oh how I wish I had a country home like this. Thank you Mrs Jones for the inspiration!

You can see more pics here (check out the way the creative homeowners use old doors and windows for decoration and ways to display items in many of the rooms - wonderful or what?!).

Any plans for the weekend? Finding yourself a log cabin to renovate perhaps (I'm tempted)?. What ever you're doing, have a lovely one - and see you Monday!

A modern retreat in the Swiss Alpes

Hej hej! Sometimes, when it feels like winter is never going to end the only thing you can do is embrace it. And this is what I would do if I stayed at this chalet dug into the mountain side in Switzerland. Designed by Peter Zumthor of SeARCH and CMA it sleeps 9 and is completely heated by green energy from a local dam. Skiing anyone?!

There are plenty more of pictures here! Fantastic architecture and of course loving the concrete, the lighting and the funriture. But what do you think - could you stay here or would you prefer a more traditional alpine chalet?

And just before I head off - hello to all new lovely readers! Great to see you on here. I hope you feel inspired and will come back and visit soon! kram!

A lovingly renovated Norwegian home dating back to the 1800's.

Morning! It's beautifully sunny here today and the sea is iced over as far as the eye can see BRRRRR! So cosiness (and charm) is the order of the day and this home has oodles of it! It's the renovated home of blogger Monica Bromseth of Karlottes Hjem and her family in Norway. Built in the 1800's the house has so much history, once the home of the community's first midwife,  it has also been the village post office and a general store! If walls could tell stories, this home could write a library!

White rustic /shabby chic home with modern surprises

Hej and happy Friday! Today I love this home. Of course cos it's white, yes. (Tell me honestly, do I publish too many white homes?! I think maybe I do..:). But also because it's full of surprises. At a distance it looks like a classic white rustic /shabby chic space but look closer and there are lots of gems. From vintage industrial Tolix stools, to deco chairs and modern bulb lighting. And that wonderful huge white gilded chair.
