Swedish home with vintage finds: part II

Yesterday we took a peek around the wonderful  little children's bedroom from Johanna Gartmyr's Southern Swedish family home. And today I promised you the remainder of this fab home crammed full of wonderful retro flea market finds and timeless Scandinavian designer pieces. I particularly love how Johanna and her husband have balanced the splashes of colour in each room, for example the bright yellow lamp matches with the retro chilren's high chair in the dining area...

I spy variations of the String shelves in the dining and sitting room areas. The IKEA black and white striped STOCKHOLM RAND rug in the sitting room and the 'round elefant' black tray from Svenskt Tenn in the last picture.

Such a fab, happy home! Is there anything you particularly love?

PS Thank you Johanna for your kind permission  to share these images (taken by sister, Lisa Wikstrand).

PPS My Scandinavian Home is finally on Facebook as of a month ago (although it has an identity disorder and thinks it's a Tumblr so if you like to have your day occasionally interrupted by a pretty interior picture it could be worth a 'like'. Oh and I am also a little addicted to Pinterest too, are you on there too?

Swedish home with fun vintage finds: Part I

Hej hej! On Saturday I went off on a great flea market road trip around South West SkÃ¥ne. It's amazing all the fantastic things you can find at bargain prices (and for charity).  The home in today's post, with kind permission from the owner, Johanna from AprillAprill blog and her family, is the perfect example of what you can do with a little upcycling. Since there are so many fab pictures (photographed by Johanna's sister Lisa Wikstrand (blog here) for Retro magazine) Here's part I of a two part series- her daughter's fab bright, fun bedroom.

Isn't it such a perfect bedroom for a little girl?

We were at a friend's house for brunch yesterday (who have the most fantastic converted school out in the countryside but that's another story) and they had exactly the same play castle (lekborg) from Smallroom in their children's playroom. Oh how much would my girls love one of those.

Look out for the rest of Johanna's beautiful Scandinavian retro home in part II tomorrow!

PS How come my home doesn't look like this after Saturday's flea market tour?!!

Swedish country style with a modern twist

I love the relaxed country-style vibe of this home from Swedish interior magazine Hus o Hem. If you look closely there are so many interesting features such as the painted chequered kitchen floor, vintage tins used as plant pots, 'Dalarna' horses in frames, hats hung on the walls and used as decoration and a pallet on wheels used as part of a modular sofa. Soooo much inspiration!

Thank you for the great 'guest room tips' you gave me yesterday, I did my best to follow as many as possible (I'd love to come and stay if that's how much you pamper your guests!):

Habotai:  Fresh flowers and a scented candle
Jen Magazines and books about cookery, gardening and interiors etc.
Erin A card with the wireless internet password and fluffy towels
Kelly A tray with mints. water, snacks, alarm clock and slippers

Tonight we're going to enjoy a slice of Swedish tradition with a mini Crayfish party at home, maybe minus the schnapps - or is that boring of me?!!

White with a little unique touch

I finished the week with sitting rooms that've all appeared in Alvhem estate agents this year. So I thought it would be fitting to start the week with a home that is also for sale right now in Stockholm (this time with Stadshem). I love the kitchen. Note to self: it takes just one interesting and eye-catching item which breaks away from the rest of the colour scheme (in this case the storage unit with the orange circular handles) to make a room. OK; the room happens to be beautiful too, which helps!

Stadshem

Right now I'm preparing for the exciting arrival of my Mum and Dad. Any tips for guest bedroom essentials? I always love to add a little 'luxury' touch!

Hope y'all had a lovely weekend!

Swedish sitting room inspiration

One of my first projects this Autumn will definitely be our sitting room. I foresee lots of evenings on the sofa under a blanket! I'm taking my inspiration from some of these lovely Swedish sitting rooms. All of which have appeared on Alvhem estate agents website over the year). And all very white and lovely.

Alvhem
I think the last three are my favourite, just need to throw in a roaring fire to the mix! Perfect! What about you?

Have a lovely Friday all! YaaaaaaaY!

A bang on trend malmö home

You'll have definitely seen this home floating around the blog world. But I am particularly excited and have more reason than most to show this fab home - I know the owners! They are a wonderful, fun and talented family. She's a designer with her own Copenhagen based company and he's an architect which explains all the fantastic renovation. They really haven't lived there that long and they've done absolutely loads; including an all white canvas, new plywood stairs, kitchen cabinets and shelving units among other things. All in all they've turned it into a fun, beautiful, sunlight drenched home and guess what? It's for sale!!!.....

Bo-laget

I'm already excited to see what they do in their next home!

Will it be plywood again? Plywood is definitely the interior material for 2012, but what do you think of it?
