Finnish inspiration

Some light inspiration from Finnish brand Iittala today who have branched out into the world of interiors and launched a new storage system and light for spring / summer. I love the clean lines and the way the spaces have been styled around the products.

What do you think of these new pieces? Do you own any Iittala glasswear?

I had a great time in Copenhagen yesterday evening visiting the new Muuto headquarters. We got to see the latest Muuto collection and meet some of the talented designers behind it. We also enjoyed hot dogs and champagne on their roof terrace! I can't wait to get my photos sorted so I can show you some of their latest collection, it's all very exciting (you can buy fab items from Muuto here). Afterwards I went to Tivoli Gardens and went on some of the scariest rides I've ever been on eeeeeek! It was so much fun though! Have you been to a funfair lately?

It's Midsummer in Sweden tomorrow so I'll be off to dance around a May Pole with my family! I hope you all have a wonderful Midsummer and see you Monday!

Sense of space

Swedish brand Asplund has just released these inspiration images from their latest collection 'sense of space'. So I'll give you just that to take a look through!

I love Asplund products, they are simple yet beautiful. I especially love their rugs, perhaps I should get something with a little colour for my sitting room? What do you think?

An exciting edition to the my scandinavian home sponsors today: online shop Kathapult, founded by Katharina Berggreen. I know you'll love her prints which include the wonderful Single Diamond poster prints and very cool knit pattern postcards, among other things!

Hope you all have a lovely day!

The home of a Danish artist / architect

Hello! I hope you had a lovely weekend? Malmö was en fete with the Eurovision Song contest and the sun came out just for the occasion, all in all such a fab weekend! And a huge well done to the winners, Denmark! To celebrate, it had to be a Danish home for today's post! This is the home of Danish artist and architect Anne Boysen. The home reflects her design philosophy: to surpise and at the same time cultivate simplicity. For examples of her work check out Anne's wonderful shop!

A beautiful Malmö home in neutrals

Hello, and happy Monday! I'd like to kick off the week with a home tour of this beautiful apartment here in Malmö, Sweden (currently for sale, wink wink!). I love the soft, neutral tones of paint, the large open rooms and high ceilings which are so typical of the buildings in the theatre area. The furniture reads like a who's who of designer items and that spiral staircase *sigh*!

I spy: the Eames armchair DAR around the dining room table, the Isamu Noguchi coffee table (both 15% off with code MYSCAN :). The Modernica bubble ball lamp, Bertoia's Diamond Armchair (on my wishlist!) and the fabulous bird pendant light by Swedish based designer Hung Ming Chen. Am I missing anything?

Could you live here?

It was super sunny in Southern Sweden this weekend. After a long winter everyone appeared from hibernation, and sat in rows outside cafés with faces angled towards the sun. It was a site to be seen! Ooooo to feel the warmth of the sun on the skin again.

PS a warm welcome to all you lovely new readers. If you get the chance, leave a message, we'd love to hear from you!

Beautiful home of danish fashion designer

This is the fabulous home of Danish fashion designer and co-founder of clothing company Munthe plus Simonsen, Naja Munthe. Naja commissioned Martin Koldby to take the pictures for her book 'Fashionable Living' and spring summer 2012 catalogue. I'm not sure what to say except I love every last detail, from the colour scheme, to the patterns and the personal collections to the architecture, kakelugn fireplace and Tom Dixon beat lights, this home is a dream.

What do you think?

Before I leave you to enjoy your weekend I've got a little exciting news.

I'm really excited to introduce my new sponsor: 'Buy Some Damn Art' (fab name!). If you see the website I think you'll want to (I have my eye on Beachcombing 61 by Jennifer Steen Booher). Owner, Kate, also author of  blog Art Hound, works closely with some of the best up-and-coming artists to bring you new, original artwork every week so keep an eye on the site!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! Any great plans? Here we're knee deep in snow and it's freeezing BRRRRRRRR so I will be hibernating like a bear :)

Cottage with a modern twist in Landskrona

A Swedish psychologist told me that 40 years ago parents were giving their children names which would help them fit in. Today Swedish children's names are chosen to stand out. When I saw this home in the old quarter of Landskrona here in Southern Sweden it made me think of this. Stockholm architects Elding Oscarson have transformed this town house from a cottage to a 21st century home which certainly stands out from the crowd!

I absolutely love the interior which is designed around letting as much light in as possible with its large windows and open plan living. I especially love the window nook with cushions, the fab Scandinavian designer pieces, the mid century dining table and chairs and the nod to orange / apricot in every room.

Could you go for a 21st century facelift like this for your home and stand out from the rest?

PS thank you so much to my good friend Ullis for the tip, I hope your little one arrives soon :)

If you're going to Helsinki....

On my list of places to go in 2013 is Helsinki, Finland. I absolutely love Finnish design and Helsinki is teeming with fantastic design shops and museums.

The Finnish Design Shop 'pop-up' shop in Helsinki which I think is now closed. But keep an eye out on their website for more pop up shops!

Have you been to Helsinki? (Or are you lucky enough to come from Helsinki?) Perhaps you can give me some tips?!

Which city do you have top of your list for 2013?

Have yourselves a very merry Wednesday all and I'll see you tomorrow!

Antwerp home of a graphic designer

You just know that the home of a graphic designer is going to be pretty cool, especially when they have an Art Nouveau house to play with. Davy Dooms, has made a bit of masterpiece out of his 850 metre square living space in Antwerp with all it's cool scandinavian designer touches. I also love the way photographer Niko Caignie has photographed it for Remodelista using interesting angles.

What do you think? Your kind of home? I love the wooden touches used to soften and add warmth to the look and enjoy the clean lines, although, you know me, I could never be as orderly as this and would definitely need to add some feminine touches.

I hope you all enjoy your last weekend of 2012! See you Monday (aka New year's Eve! - woo hoo!).
