Cottage with a modern twist in Landskrona

A Swedish psychologist told me that 40 years ago parents were giving their children names which would help them fit in. Today Swedish children's names are chosen to stand out. When I saw this home in the old quarter of Landskrona here in Southern Sweden it made me think of this. Stockholm architects Elding Oscarson have transformed this town house from a cottage to a 21st century home which certainly stands out from the crowd!

I absolutely love the interior which is designed around letting as much light in as possible with its large windows and open plan living. I especially love the window nook with cushions, the fab Scandinavian designer pieces, the mid century dining table and chairs and the nod to orange / apricot in every room.

Could you go for a 21st century facelift like this for your home and stand out from the rest?

PS thank you so much to my good friend Ullis for the tip, I hope your little one arrives soon :)

  7. How fantastic! It looks like a lovely, light-filled place to relax with friends or a good book. I have to wonder what the neighbours think, though. Maybe they're planning renovations of their own. :)

  8. I love it. I love the separate office space in the back of the garden! I've seen the first picture before but never really knew the full story behind it. I bet the neighbors on either side of it aren't entirely pleased, though ;)

  14. What a great house! It really sticks out from the neighbors, as you and Erin said they might not be pleased but the design is just marvelous. I would enjoy grabbing a book from the bookshelf surrounding the window seat and plunk down there to read or watch the neighbors pass by...
