A Beautiful Swedish Country Home with Layers of Cosy Textures

Hej vänner! I hope you had a fabulous weekend! I have to confess, I'm feeling slightly worse for wear today after a conference in Ischgl, Austria! What a crazy place! So much fun. It was a lot of work, but it was great to get a little skiing in and enjoy the mountains too. 

We landed back in Sweden late last night, and today I'm thinking I'd much rather be in the beautiful, serene home of Emily Slotte than at my desk!

If you don't already follow Emily on instagram, it's a must! The Swede shares daily snapshots from her beautiful home in the countryside near Norrtälje, Northeast of Stockholm. Think warm, off-white shades, a blend of texture including stone, wood and rattan and layers of textiles - from shag-pile rugs to sheer curtains for a cosy, soft touch. In the winter, the family gathers around a roaring fire in an upstairs living room, in summer, life moves outdoors!

I particularly love the upstairs sitting room with its towering ceiling, cosy fire and TMBO lounge chair - but there are lots of other lovely, simple details too.

A Dreamy Vintage-inspired Family Home on the French Riviera

Bonjour! Yes, you've guessed it, we're off to France today. Not IRL of course (although that would've been nice, don't you think?) - but right here on the blog. Jessica, her husband and their two children Cara and Maya live in a beautiful home on the French Riviera. Decorated in calming neutrals, the house is a sea of cool white and cream, punctuated with rattan and wood for warmth. Vintage furniture and art help to add a relaxed vibe throughout - and the perfect base from which to explore Cannes, St Tropez, Nice and Monaco. Bienvenue chez Jessica!

Michiel's Harmonious Dutch Home in Natural Hues

Good morning friends! Stopping by here on this bright and sunny Monday morning in Malmö with the beautiful home of Michiel Bosman. A photographer, stylist and teacher, Michiel has been busy renovating his house in the small town of Bodegraven between Amsterdam and Rotterdam in The Netherlands. The canvas is in place with a calming combination of natural wood, stone and soft earthy hues, and now he has begun to layer it with a perfect blend old and new (with a particular penchant for Scandinavian design - which of course, I love!). Here are a few snapshots from his harmonious home. 

The wooden kitchen cabinets are from the Norwegian family run business Ask og Eng, the marble top is from De Keukenbladenfabriek and the taps are by deVOL. Wooden shelves are laden with artisan objects by ceramicists such as Robynn Storgaard and Poppy Lawman. 

This popular lamp is popping up in many beautiful homes right now - it's by Valerie Objects.

The bedroom is one of Michiel's latest projects, the walls have been painted in 'clay mid' from Little Greene. Next step - art! 

Such a beautiful home. To me, it looks like the perfect canvas, backdrop from which to build upon over time and layer with personal objects, art and everyday items.

A Harmonious Stockholm Apartment Furnished with Vintage Finds

This lovely Swedish apartment caught my eye this morning. There was something about it that felt familiar and yet at the same time unique. Nestled on the second floor of an early 1920's building in Stockholm, the one bedroom flat has been decorated in soothing tones of white, beige, and a hint of green. The furniture is a perfect blend of vintage and mid-century finds - with every piece unique - and a nod to some of the biggest Scandinavian trends of the moment: conical shapes, fluffy rugs and plenty of linen. let's take a look around! 

What a lovely, harmonious apartment. 

It's on the market - a hard space to leave but from looking at the shared bedroom, I can only guess the family have out grown it. Might you be the next owner?

A Serene Stockholm Apartment In Neutrals

This incredible Stockholm apartment might seem tight in places (check out the angles in the kitchen and bedrooms), but don't be fooled - the two-floor maisonette actually has 5 bedrooms - which for Sweden's capital city is immense! When I stumbled across it, an incredible sense of calm washed over me, which I put down to the lovely pools of sunlight, wide open-plan living space and the soft putty shade throughout. I could quite happily see myself flitting about in this wonderful oasis, how about you? 

Note the rounded shape of the sofa - curved edges are set to be a big trend in 2022. 

I am guessing the fluffy rug is from Cappelen Dimyr - a popular Swedish brand co-owned by Elin Dixdotter who's wonderful Copenhagen home I featured here and incredible country kitchen here.

When you choose a monotone palette, it's critical to shake things up a little and add interest with texture - clearly seen here in the bedroom. 

So beautiful!
