Cue: the search for the perfect Airbnb (I won’t pretend I don’t love this part!). And that’s how I stumbled across this one. It was actually featured in a Vogue Airbnb round-up, and if it’s good enough for the fashion bible, it’s good enough for me!
Would you like to see inside and dream about a long weekend in a beautiful Stockholm villa dating back to 1910?
I love how so much of the original charm feels completely intact yet it feels so relaxed. There are worn wooden floors, old radiators, wonderfully wonky walls, vintage furniture and books everywhere, alongside soft earthy tones and touches of greenery. The kitchen in particular feels as though it has evolved naturally over the years, rather than being designed all at once, and I’m rather taken with that cosy built-in bench piled with striped cushions too.
And then there are those big windows, looking out onto the garden. I can already imagine how lovely the house must feel in autumn, with the low October light filtering through the trees.
Plus, I quite fancy a coffee on that veranda, wrapped in a blanket and looking out over the autumnal garden! Ready to take a look?
Ah, so beautiful! What a wonderful home. You can see more pictures over on Airbnb here.
Can you imagine staying here for a few autumn days?

Wishing you a wonderful autumnal weekend. Thank you for stopping by this little corner of the web and for all your comments and emails. I've loved reading them and look forward to responding this weekend!

P.S. Do you have any young children, nieces, nephews or grandchildren in your life? I’ve been busy behind the scenes, and they might enjoy this lovely new IKEA collection — and the little quiz I wrote to go with it this week here.
Photography courtesy of airbnb, with thanks.

I would want to live there all year around. I love it. Is the bathtub just for looks? I didn't see a faucet. Very cozy, just my style
ReplyDeleteVery eagle-eyed - you could very well be right - it's beautiful so I can see why. Perhaps they fill it with buckets of hot water?
DeleteI need to get to IKEA!! My grandchildren love stuffies and these are very cute. In fact, two of them have red pandas that look supiciously like the ones pictured. I did really well on the little quiz questions! Fun! And now for the house.........definitely very calming and peaceful vibes. Old houses just bring that out somehow. My favorite spot would probably be sitting on the low cupboards and picking out a book from the bookcase while something was heating on the stove. The kitchen is pretty stellar too. Any child would probably adore the treehouse in the twisty tree. Thank you for sharing. Have a fabulous weekend!

I love that they are already into their red pandas - they are so cute! Happy you enjoyed my story and the quiz (well done for getting top marks!).
DeleteThe spot in the kitchen you mention is a perfect little place for a coffee and a book!
P.S. The porch!!! : > )
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely - and I can imagine would be equally perfect in all seasons!
DeleteThere is something so tangible in the autumnal light, particularly shining into the porch and on the leaves of the trees outside. Something that feels warm and familiar. Even though I live in the other side of the world; I believe I would feel completely at home there.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking the same thing about the light! October is my favorite month--the cooler temps, the tree colors, and that golden lighting. We just returned from a fall vacation in Kentucky. Our airbnb wasn't nearly this fancy, but we had a fantastic time. This rental is so effortless--lovely!
DeleteI love autumn too. For some reason it always reminds me of my school days, I don't know why. We used to love collect conquers on our way home from dance class too!
DeleteI hope you had a lovely time in Kentucky - I've never been but would love to visit one day.
Fantastic!
ReplyDeleteDe sfeer is inderdaad heerlijk! Het voelt echt als een ademteug frisse lucht. Door de natuur zo naar binnen te halen, is het de perfecte plek om helemaal op te laden.
DeleteThis would be a fabulous place to stay. And I am very taken by the images of the bathroom. It has a chic-vintage style that also feels a bit romantic. Though I’m a dediacated shower only user, I do love the tub in the room!
ReplyDeleteI agree, the bathroom is absolutely lovely! We actually removed our tub last year as it was falling apart. I've never not had one before. I might miss it in the winter!
DeleteThese photos are very inspiring and just looking into these homes makes me feel like I went on a little vacation. I feel relaxed! Thank you for posting pics., of these lovely homes!
ReplyDeleteThank you, I am so happy you enjoy my posts.
DeleteFall is a beautiful time of the year, a little rest after a busy summer with guests, vacationing and gardening. Love the kitchen and the sage green on walls and doors. Its your writing, Niki, that makes homes come alive, love your IKEA articles too☺
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, such a lovely thing to say, I really appreciate it.
DeleteA great example of personal design is a kitchen that looks like it "evolved over time" instead of being planned ahead of time. A casual, laid-back vibe is created by combining different wood finishes, freestanding pieces, open shelves, and pots that don't match.
