Hello there, campers! How was your weekend? The sun shone on Sweden for our Midsummer celebrations, and it was a glorious few days full of dancing, feasts, and wildflowers. Our Viking mugs are full!
Who says all Scandinavians are minimalists? This lovely home is brimming with unique touches – from bookshelves stacked with tomes, sculptures, lamps, and other treasures, to an eclectic mix of furniture for both big and small family members, an incredible array of lighting, and plenty of art.
And I’m not just talking traditional art – there’s also the most wonderful hand-painted mural on the ceiling, adding a playful and personal touch to the space.
Keep an eye out for the earthy tones, some gorgeous colour combinations (brown and fuchsia pink, for one – details at the end!), and a clever DIY children’s bed that adds a lovely touch of fun.
A wonderful home where traditional early 19th century architecture meets mid-century and antique pieces – full of personality and, true to Scandinavian style, a calming sense of balance. Welcome inside!
What stood out to you? And tell me – would you ever go for a mural on your ceiling?
Too many traditionally styled homes take themselves too seriously, in my opinion - how refreshing that this one doesn't! There is a welcoming sense of playfulness and lack of pretension. Would I go for a mural on my ceiling? Absolutely, especially if it crept down a corner of the wall like this one does!
ReplyDeleteYes love this home - so compelling, even the photos are drawing me in!
DeleteWhat a stunner! It looks so welcoming and inviting :)
ReplyDeleteThat ceiling is spectacular and it took me a long time to scroll away from the dining room. I could definitely go for a mural on the ceiling—what drama! When a home exudes this much character and personality, it’s fun to imagine what the people who live there must be like!
ReplyDeleteWe're about to see how long of a comment I can make before I get cut off. 🤣 This is fabulous! I would totally have a ceiling mural, although my ceilings are too low to pull it off well. I've been looking for ideas for pairing chairs with an old table--love what they did here. The built-in cabinetry throughout the house (filled with curiousities), the corner table with what I assume is a unique vine-ey light, the adorable bed--all of them caught my eye. I think I could discover many more things to love if I spent more time gazing at the pictures. What a great start to my Monday! Let's go visit!
ReplyDeleteVery nice and homely, I really like the many plants
ReplyDeleteA most interesting home!! I too vote YES for the ceiling mural!! It's just so cool! I love the vintage lighting, especially in the kitchen. I am wondering if I am seeing things in that kitchen though. In one picture there is a super cute table across from the island. Later there seems to be an equally lovely dresser there. Love the blue jug on top of both of them. Thank you so much for sharing!! Stay cool!! (Here in the Midwest it is hot and humid!) : > (
ReplyDeleteLove anything eclectic
ReplyDeleteThe area with paints, pens, pencils, hats and guitars
Is very Artistic
