The village itself is full of sweet little shops and cafΓ©s too. We usually take the scenic route and admire the villas (you know me!) – a mix of cosy year-round homes and dreamy beach houses. And today, I’m so excited to share a peek inside one of them.
This villa is a true original—built in 1901 for a Stockholm bank director who came here every summer with his family and staff when sea bathing became all the rage. With its grey-painted faΓ§ade, small-paned windows, and detailed carpentry, it’s full of turn-of-the-century charm. Inside, the original light wood floors, beadboard walls, and vibrant wallpaper bring that nostalgic summer vibe to life.
The house has eight rooms over two floors, including a veranda, a big kitchen and four upstairs bedrooms. One still has its original sink – and I love that. I’d save myself so much queueing in the mornings! The master bedroom has a balcony with views through the park down to the beach - so peaceful! And the garden is just as dreamy, with roses, century-old trees and a greenhouse made for long fika moments. No wonder this gem’s been featured in over 30 interior mags. Ready to take a look around?
This villa really is a dream – the history, the style, the architectural details, the mature garden, the greenhouse (imagine sitting in there with friends under the glow of oil lamps? So cosy!) – it has everything I could possibly need and more. Sadly, it’s a little out of our budget… but that doesn’t stop me dreaming!
Could you imagine living in a Swedish beach villa like this, too? Is there anything in particular that caught your eye?
One thing that stood out to me is the use of textiles with a floral or botanical theme - seen in the kitchen and on cushions. What a difference this makes to the overall space - and it's such a quick update too.
See more pictures and find out more about the property here.
Shall we take a nosey around a few more villas today?
How about summer in this Swedish pool villa?

I could imagine myself feeling right at home here! The wallpaper, flooring, and beadboard throughout appeals to me so much! Beadboard is one of my favorite things in life! The sunroom(?) with beadboarded walls and ceiling plus a gorgeous old table and mismatched chairs would be the perfect spot for meals or fika with family and friends or just a place to set your laptop and catch up on emails. The outside of the home is so charming as well. Thank you for helping me start my day with such peaceful and dreamy images. : > )
ReplyDeleteI am so happy you spotted so many beautiful details to feel inspired by. It is indeed a dream!
DeleteI love the spaces that have the wood ceiling. The dining room and greenhouse may be my favorite spots but there are many places I would enjoy a fika moment, including the outdoor patio. It’s all very lovely and would be a great place to exhale!
ReplyDeleteYes! Thank you for pointing out the wood ceiling, a lovely detail! The greenhouse is wonderful - I was thinking how nice it would be to have an extra place like this to gather with friends - especially when lit with oil lamps and candles.
DeleteThere is so much here to love. I don't know where to start! I think I'm most drawn to all of the communal dining areas. They are beautiful in their simplicity, and there is something so heartwarming about sharing a meal with others. From the looks of the cookstove, they take their meal prep seriously.
ReplyDeleteThe second-floor wallpaper (with the window in the ceiling) and the wood panelled ceiling also caught my eye. Thanks for providing a bit of cheer on a dreary weather day.
Thank you so much for pointing out all these pretty details Kris. I wonder if this is a summer home or a year-round home? Often in Swedish summer homes they'll have larger gatherings - with family and friends dropping in for a few days or impromptu get-togethers with other folk who are there over the summer - hence the lovely large dining areas.

ReplyDeleteThe bedroom with double doors opening on to a terrace...wish I could step out there now. Blue wallpaper as accent walls. Every window serves its purpose...natural light, ventilation, and enhances the aesthetic appeal of the home. The greenhouse would be perfect to refresh after a long day! This beautifully maintained home and its ages old lovely garden carries with it a 'living message of a time that we have not seen'.
ReplyDeleteImagine waking up on a summer's day and throwing the doors open to the terrace? A perfect, quiet spot for a morning coffee!
DeleteAlso like the botanical prints.
ReplyDeleteThose bambo chairs look comfy aswell.

Yes, there is something so summery about the bamboo chairs - and they look especially lovely with the botanical prints!

ReplyDeleteI LOVE the greenhouse too - it's a dream!
DeleteTHis home is truly calling my name. I think I could live happily in the sunroom/greenhouse alone.
