It’s only a few days until the Easter holidays begin. For some in Scandinavia, that’s the cue to open up the stuga (summer house or cabin) after a long winter—sweeping out the cobwebs, airing the rooms, and letting the fresh spring breeze roll in.
No doubt the Danish owners of this charming summerhouse in Lammefjorden (a reclaimed fjord area in north-west Zealand, Denmark) are doing just that. The lovely wooden property consists of three buildings: a main house and two smaller outbuildings, including a rustic garden room designed to feel alfresco—even if it’s not quite warm enough yet to go without a roof!
Styled in soft tones of white, grey, and beige, the interiors are pared-back yet full of subtöcharacter. Much of the space has been thoughtfully handbuilt or furnished with vintage finds, giving it a relaxed, soulful charm. It has everything you need to unwind: a kitchen, dining area, sitting room, bedrooms, and of course, somewhere to spill out onto when the sun makes an appearance.
Oh, and a little birdie tells me it’s also available to rent—just in case you’re tempted to embrace a simpler life, Danish-style.

Earthy and enchanting! I noticed a few small wall mounted cabinets that seem to have possibly been repurposed for decor and storage. I also like the crockery container filled with candles, ready to grab and light as needed. We live in an area of the US with frequent spring storms that knock out our power, so I may have to borrow this idea… practical and cute. I was wondering about the half brick partition between the kitchen and dining space. Possibly a fireplace wall at some point? This would be a serene place to holiday.

ReplyDeleteSeeing this home did make for a happy Monday! It is such a peaceful sanctuary. I am drawn to calm colors such as these. I was quite taken by the vintage (?) kitchen lights and also the wood and glass cupboards previously mentioned. But the real kicker for me was the sunny glassed-in garden shed....so very cool!! I am ready to pack my bags!! Or maybe just try to recreate a similar vibe here at home. Love it. : > )

DeleteThis is a cutie patootie of a home. I have started learning macrame, and noticed several decorative macrame accents, including a doorway cover. Clever way to allow in light but provide a little bit of a visual screen. I enjoyed the fun accent pieces--the snail, birds, and mushroom. Subtle charm 💕. Thanks for featuring this one! Something about the way sunlight streams in and blends in with the colors and textures indoor and outdoor. Perfect little wooden open shelves, earthenware and ceramics, vintage lamps, lovely fabrics, wire mesh coffee table?( we had chairs and sofas like that while growing up, only problem, rewire every few years). The kitchen brick wall caught my eye too, and the garden shed.
