Hello there friends. How are you today? I snuck in a little extra post yesterday featuring my dining room and some very beautiful iconic Danish chairs - did you see it?
And today, I'd like to take you on a virtual trip to Denmark, and the beautiful home of fashionista Emily Salomon and her young family. Emily's home reflects her personal style - relaxed and simple with a wonderful unique twist. There are many things to appreciate about her home - including the neutral base and touches of stone. But I particularly love the way Emily decorates her home at Christmas using garlands, a touch of chintz and this year's absolute must - bows!
In fact, as a nod to the eighties we're seeing bows absolutely everywhere this Christmas - on the tree (as seen on this beautiful one), in windows, in the bathroom (as seen in Emily's lovely home), on the door, as earrings (I just ordered these bow earrings for my daughter for Christmas... shhhh), on clothes and of course, in the hair!
Ready to take a peek at Emily's lovely home?
I could get into that bath right now with a good book! I actually haven't seen a stone bath caddy before - have you? It looks so smart! And while on the topic of bathrooms, how cute is the little scalloped sink in the guest loo?
All the Christmas decorations have got me in the mood for decorating my home this weekend - so looking forward to it! Have you started yet?
Is there anything that stood out to you about Emily's home? And will you be decorating your home with bows?
You can see more pictures of Emily's home and also get Danish fashion / style inspiration over at @emilysalomon.
It would be rude not to share a few more Danish homes all decorated for Christmas - so many beautiful and unique ideas to feel inspired by:

Absolutely lovely! Love the white dove garland over the sink around the br window! ⭐️
ReplyDeleteYes! So happy you pointed that out, it's so pretty!
DeleteThat cat garland makes me smile!
ReplyDeleteIt's so fun, I want one now too!
DeleteOh, the cat garland!!
ReplyDeleteIt's so cute!!!
DeleteThis is a delightful home .... with a cat garland! :) Apparently, it's a hit with all of us readers. I also like the dove garland (I seem to like garlands lately), and I LOVE the beanbag chair which is also a world globe. What a clever idea. The home is filled with gentle color (my fave) and ohhh, that gorgeous coffee table!! The more I scroll through this, the more I see!
ReplyDeleteThe cat garland is a definite hit - I wonder where you can buy it? Will have to delve into it - this Christmas' must-have! Thank you for pointing out the beanbag globe chair - I hadn't noticed that!!

DeleteFound it! I know I've seen it for sale in a brick-and-mortar store, too, but I can't remember where or when I saw it. I don't think this is the original (or only) vendor, but it's a place to start.
Charming details -- the cat garland of course, but also the bird garland over the mirror in the bathroom and the ribbon strung across the front window adorned with treasures. Also the delightful bathroom sink; I've never seen one like it before!
ReplyDeleteYes! the bird garland is so pretty. The homemade garland in the window is so clever, I love the way you can make it truly yours!
Deletethe bathroom wall, beautiful....is it a painted mural or wall paper
ReplyDeletethanks for everyone of your posts
always a delightful time ,you bring so much joy, beauty , creativity and motivation
I'm now intrigued by that too! I've asked Emily if it's wallpaper or a mural and will report back! PS thank you so much for your lovely comment, it means so much :)
DeleteI have heard back from Emily - it's wallpaper from Anthropologie :)
Deletea lovely idea to run a ribbon across the window and ornaments strung from it(like a charm bracelet, my youngsters would love it, though heaven knows what they might put up!) Also little ornaments on cabinet knobs, a pretzel, a heart, a bear...the wicker pendant lamp over the dining table, the angled windows and the bath!
ReplyDeleteIt's such a lovely idea, isn't it! So funny - I can only imagine what they'd dream up, it would definitely be a conversation starter! Thank you for pointing out all the other lovely details too - I'd completely missed some!
DeleteCat garland and dove garland- how very merry and beautiful. I love them!! This home makes me appreciate pared down Christmas decor so that everything stands out. I do not like a home where it looks like someone (to put it very bluntly) vomited Christmas in every single corner! Too much can really be too much! This home is peaceful and lovely. Many small details to find. I personally am enamored with the primitive stool next to the claw foot tub. I am on the lookout for something similar for a farmhouse bathroom with a vintage pedastal tub.
ReplyDeleteI agree, I love a more simple, subtle approach, that way all the details stand out (after all, you wouldn't want to miss the cat garland!). I actually have an almost identical stool - try searching 'rustic wood stool' on Etsy and you will probably find one.
DeleteJust beautiful!
ReplyDeletehappy you enjoyed the tour of Emily's home too.
DeleteLove the cat garland! ❤️
ReplyDeleteIt's so cute! We all want one now!
DeleteHey Niki! Really love the decor of emily,s home, specially love the ribbon strung on the window and the candels on the christmas tree, these all are soo unique and adorable, really love the post
ReplyDeleteThan you for pointing out all these lovely details, so much to love!
DeleteLove the bow and garland in the bathroom! & the kitten pudding garland made me smile so cute!
ReplyDeleteI love these details too - so cute!!
DeleteAnd I love that the bow is such a simple detail to add to just about anything. Looks like we all need to pick up a little velvet ribbon this Christmas!
